Description

Objet de l'inventionObject of the invention

The present invention relates to the technical field of storage and transport devices towed and guided ammunition medium gauge, in particular being inside a turret mounted on a shielded vehicle, as for example described in the document patent DE2448313C .

The invention could also be applied where appropriate to production lines in large series of bottles with conveying.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

Racks, magazines, racks or medium-ammunition storage bays for armored vehicle turrets are known in which the storage is performed on a single or double turntable often located at the rear of the turret while the guide, the towing and delivery of the ammunition takes place between this (s) plateau (x) and the barrel located generally at the front of the turret, passing through various specific structures for guiding, towing and / or routing such as conveyors and ratchet boxes. The passage of medium-caliber ammunition between the rack and its routing structures and the barrel can be done through hoses.

  • minimisant la taille des structures relatives au stockage des munitions de moyen calibre via la mise en place d'un ou deux plateau(x) tournant(s), encore appelé(s) feeder(s), localisé(s) à l'arrière de la tourelle ;
  • réduisant les efforts de guidage, de tractage et/ou d'acheminement des munitions de moyen calibre lors de leur transfert du ou des feeder(s) vers le canon via un système entièrement mécanique par mise à disposition d'un ensemble d'éléments structurels spécifiques et consécutifs de guidage tels qu'un convoyeur, une boîte à rochet, ou les deux ;
However, it is desirable to maximize the space inside the turret and improve the overall ergonomics of the turret, for example by:
  • minimizing the size of storage structures for medium caliber ammunition by placing one or two turntable (s), also known as feeder (s) , located at the rear turret;
  • reducing the efforts of guiding, towing and / or transporting medium caliber ammunition when transferring the feeder (s) to the barrel via an entirely mechanical system by providing a set of structural elements specific and consecutive guiding devices such as a conveyor, a ratchet box, or both;
  • facilitating the (re) loading and / or unloading of medium-caliber ammunition along the path of the latter when the vehicle is stationary, or possibly moving.

It may also be desirable to increase the safety of the occupants of the turret. Thus, high density polyethylene (HDPE) strips, as used in most bottle or can conveyors, can be placed along the conveyance to reduce friction between the structure and the medium caliber ammunition. during the displacement of the latter, in other words reduce the risk of detachment of bands or chains of ammunition of medium caliber. In addition, there may be a groove in the center of the conveying path to prevent the deposition of dirt such as stones, dust, etc. likely to fire ammunition. Finally, the use of a ratchet box, designating a device containing a ratchet wheel, whose curved teeth make it possible to better match the shape of medium-caliber ammunition and their link, facilitates the handling of medium-caliber ammunition until in the cannon, in addition to its role dedicated to towed and guided transport (see above).

Currently, these needs are met through the use of different types of medium-caliber ammunition racks where they are either vertically or horizontally. These operate with or without input of electrical energy since the feeder (s), fixed (s) or turn (s), is (are) located either directly next to the barrel, or at the rear of the turret.

  • les racks à munitions avec deux feeders présentant des spécificités d'accrochage et d'enroulage procurant un chemin en forme de spirale pour des munitions disposées verticalement, idéalement sans friction entre elles, le tout étant contrôlé par un mécanisme basé sur un frein spécifique. Cette approche met en évidence un dispositif généralement situé très près du canon, n'ayant pas d'intermédiaire structurel hormis les flexibles précités, et selon lequel les deux feeders sont localisés de part et d'autre du canon ;
  • les racks à munitions mettant en évidence des munitions positionnées de façon verticale dans un chemin tracé en spirale ou en serpentin et tractées via un tapis roulant motorisé, depuis le(s) feeder(s) localisé(s) à l'arrière de la tourelle, jusqu'au canon. Cet acheminement s'effectue au travers de divers éléments structurels tels qu'une boîte à rochet, un convoyeur, etc., soit du même côté du canon, soit de part et d'autre de ce dernier ;
More precisely, three types of solutions exist in the state of the art:
  • ammunition racks with two feeders having specific hooking and winding providing a spiral path for ammunition arranged vertically, ideally without friction between them, all controlled by a mechanism based on a specific brake. This approach highlights a device generally located very close to the barrel, having no structural intermediate except the aforementioned flexible, and wherein the two feeders are located on either side of the barrel;
  • ammunition racks featuring ammunition positioned vertically in a spiral or serpentine path and towed via a powered treadmill from the feeder (s) located at the rear of the turret , to the barrel. This routing takes place through various structural elements such as a ratchet box, a conveyor, etc., either on the same side of the barrel, or on both sides of the latter;
  • ammunition racks in which ammunition is stored horizontally in the rack itself and arranged along a path with successive turns. Each floor will bring the ammunition to a different hose such that the selection will be at the level of the barrel. In this configuration, medium caliber ammunition can also be driven from the gun magazine through a ratchet box.

Ces différents types de racks à munitions sont décrits notamment dans les documents suivants: EP0754926 , US2014096671 , WO2014035032 , CN201837306 , WO2011155971 , EP1749179 , US2012227300 , WO2013087053 , US2012117840 , CN101660886 , US2007107592 , US2006249131 , EP1612502 , US5905224 , US5561258 , DE3838758 , EP0290031 , US4601230 , EP0210713 , US4332097 , EP1589312 , EP0272399 , US2012/0024144 , EP0361050 , US4674392 , US20090120271 , DE4206644 , US8485083 .These different types of ammunition racks are described in particular in the following documents: EP0754926 , US2014096671 , WO2014035032 , CN201837306 , WO2011155971 , EP1749179 , US2012227300 , WO2013087053 , US2012117840 , CN101660886 , US2007107592 , US2006249131 , EP1612502 , US5905224 , US5561258 , DE3838758 , EP0290031 , US4601230 , EP0210713 , US4332097 , EP1589312 , EP0272399 , US2012 / 0024144 , EP0361050 , US4674392 , US20090120271 , DE4206644 , US8485083 .

Most of these state-of-the-art solutions require considerable towing efforts due to the friction generally present between the structure and the medium-caliber ammunition, often making it necessary to add an engine to ensure the towing of the ammunition. medium caliber to the barrel, and especially since the stores are located far from the barrel and / or produce a large footprint within the turret, which is likely to reduce the storage capacity of the (or) store (s) ). Finally, the mechanical complexity of these devices increases the manufacturing time and the production cost thereof.

Buts de l'inventionGoals of the invention

The present invention aims to provide a device that reduces the friction occurring in the path of medium-caliber ammunition without using a driving force, for example electric, other than that proposed by the gun engine.

Description de formes d'exécution préférées de l'inventionDescription of preferred embodiments of the invention

The medium-caliber ammunition rack device 1 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, shown in a general view of the Figures 1 to 3 , is a compound system:
  • of one or two circular plates (s) turning (s) or feeder (s) 21, 22 (and in this case of two trays in these figures), possibly of different sizes, placed (s) ) at the rear of the turret (the front of the turret is the side where the gun is located),
  • a first conveyor 31 and a first ratchet box 41 located directly at the exit of the feeder (s) and
  • a second conveyor 32 and a second ratchet 42 both located on the same side in the turret, for example on the side of the commander (the position of the shooter being the opposite).

The junction between the medium-caliber ammunition rack 1 and the barrel is made through hoses (see item 61, on Figures 7 and 8 ) connecting the second ratchet box 42 to the barrel. As shown on the Figure 4 , the presence of two feeders 21, 22 in this embodiment defines the routing of two strips or parallel chains of medium-caliber ammunition 2 from the feeders to the barrel. The (re) loading and / or unloading of the medium-caliber ammunition strips or chains in the feeders is done in a spiral path 29, each band or chain being hooked at one end to the feeder axis 25 by a device any known to those skilled in the art, such as a clip secured to the axis. According to an alternative embodiment, the medium-caliber ammunition rack may only one feeder, which defines the routing of a single band or ammunition chain between this single feeder and the barrel. However, the device with two trays advantageously makes it possible to increase the capacity of (re) loading and / or unloading or to simultaneously use two different types of ammunition of different caliber but always on the same caliber because the barrel does not accept only one (eg 30 or 40mm).

According to one embodiment, the turntables can be made in the form of plates having orifices, such as slatted type trays, on the one hand to lighten the device and on the other hand to allow the evacuation of dust, dirt or any other object or debris that could trigger the accidental firing of ammunition, especially when the vehicle is in motion. In addition, the lateral cylindrical walls of the feeders may have, in addition to a protective function, also a guiding function for medium-caliber ammunition arranged in the spirally wound strip or chain around the axis of the plate.

According to another embodiment, the trays may be mounted on annular base bases, for example but not necessarily, bolted to the floor of the turret and fixed thereto using hooks, or any other system fixing, to prevent inadvertent vertical movement of the plate, especially when the vehicle is moving.

In another embodiment, the trays will be rotatably mounted about their vertical axis by means of bearings to reduce friction.

According to another embodiment, the rotating plates may have a retractable central axis for stacking them, for example to facilitate the transport of the trays in the turret or to allow to lower a retractable optics during transport.

Braking means may also be provided at the trays to control the inertia of medium caliber ammunition and prevent it from causing a rotation of the plate when the barrel stops working.

Avantageusement, les frictions tout au long du trajet des munitions de moyen calibre sont fortement réduites suite à l'utilisation de bandes HDPE (non représenté).Advantageously, the friction along the path of medium-caliber ammunition is greatly reduced following the use of HDPE strips (not shown).

An essential element of the invention lies in the fact that this device allows and promotes a guided and towed transport medium caliber ammunition without other motorized contribution than that proposed by the gun engine in two strips or parallel chains 2 from the feeders ( 21, 22) to the barrel, parallel bands or chains placed on the commander's side. All arrangements made according to the invention for minimizing the friction of medium-caliber ammunition during their transport to the barrel contribute to make superfluous any means of traction additional traction provided by the engine of the gun.

According to preferred embodiments of the invention, the (re) loading and / or unloading of the medium-caliber ammunition can advantageously be effected by hatches provided in the feeder (s) and the conveyors, either from the inside from the outside of the turret, following the rotation or pivoting of certain opening walls provided at the (or) feeder (s), respectively of the conveyors, laterally and / or at the level of the roof thereof .

On the one hand, the opening wall 23, 24 at the level of the roof of one or both turn plates 21, 22 can be designed so that a rotation is made according to a clockwise movement of this roof wall around the central axis of the feeder 25 by means of two small handles 26, 27 located on the roof of each feeder, to achieve this rotation manually. In the example given here, one of the feeders 21 is also provided, in addition to the roof opening, a side hatch 28 pivotally mounted around a vertical hinge. Thanks to these hatches, the (re) loading and / or unloading inside and / or outside is (are) possible (s) and can (can) even be carried out (s) simultaneously ( Figure 5 ). Indeed, when the two openings are accessible simultaneously, it is sufficient to have two people, one outside and the other inside the turret, for:
  1. i) (re) loading and / or unloading medium caliber ammunition (by the individual located in and / or out of the turret) but also
  2. ii) Carry medium-caliber ammunition to the gun (by the individual standing in the turret).

On the other hand, in the example presented here, with regard to the two conveyors, these are designed so that the (re) loading and / or unloading can (can) be carried out only only from the inside the turret ( Figures 5 and 6 ). According to the execution modality represented on the Figure 5 , the first conveyor 31 has a possibility of opening at plate level, lateral 33 and upper 34. The side plate 33 is pivotally mounted around the fixed part of the rack, thanks to a horizontal hinge and the conveyor roof plate 34 is pivotally mounted around the side plate 33 through another horizontal hinge. Thus, when opening the corresponding hatch, the roof plate 34 can fold on the side plate 33, with very little space. Otherwise ( Figure 6 ), the second conveyor 32 opens only from its upper part via a plate 35 pivotally mounted around a horizontal hinge.

The examples shown here as traps or openings in feeders and conveyors are only illustrative, it being understood that other possible configurations fall within the scope of the invention. The structures consisting of removable movable plates with hinges make it easy to open an opening for access to medium-caliber ammunition and for their (re) loading and / or unloading in the conveyors through the use of "clips" and locks 51, which allow rapid (un) locking ( Figures 5 and 6 ). The various openings also allow easier access in case of maintenance to be performed and for any other parts replacement.

These characteristics related to the (re) loading and / or unloading of medium-caliber ammunition favor an increase in the safety inside the turret since the space inside it has been drastically reduced.

With regard to the ratchet boxes 41, 42 respectively, they allow a guided and guided transport medium caliber ammunition along their journey, with change of direction, only through the rotation of an axis 43. This axis 43 is provided with at least two hexagonal wheels 44 each side has a housing for accommodating a medium caliber ammunition. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, this axis 43 is externally terminated so that it can be manually rotated, for example by means of a standard 14 mm socket wrench ( Figures 7 and 8 ). Thus, it is possible to run / convey strips or chains of medium caliber short ammunition (re) loaded in the feeder (s) or in the conveyors around the axis of the ratchet boxes so as to guide them, pull them partially on the way to the barrel and possibly hang them on the bands or chains still in the ammunition rack (between the feeder (s) and the barrel, in case of reloading). This manipulation promotes an improvement of the general ergonomics of the turret. A second advantage related to this axis 43 lies in the fact that it appears a reduction in friction between the bend described by the medium caliber ammunition and said ammunition through the addition of a ball bearing whose friction torque is close to zero.

La présente invention présente les avantages suivants :

  • aucun besoin en puissance extérieure motorisée, ce qui augmente la fiabilité du dispositif, le moteur du canon se suffisant à lui-même ;
  • un dispositif plus léger que ceux de l'état de la technique. Ceci permet d'envisager la possibilité de sortir tout ou une partie du rack à munitions de moyen calibre de la tourelle et le remplir au moins partiellement à l'extérieur de celle-ci, avant de le replacer et le fixer à nouveau à l'intérieur de la tourelle ;
  • un dispositif pouvant être entièrement fabriqué en un métal léger comme l'aluminium, ce qui implique un gain de poids ;
  • un système compact localisé du même côté au sein de la tourelle, autrement dit présentant un encombrement fortement réduit ;
  • une facilité de chargement soit depuis l'intérieur, soit depuis l'extérieur de la tourelle via une mobilité pratique au niveau de tôles constitutives des éléments structurels du dispositif par exemple via des petites poignées (notamment au niveau du ou des feeder(s)) et/ou des « clips » (sur les convoyeurs) ;
  • une diminution des frictions avec les bandes en HDPE sur la quasi-totalité du trajet ;
The present invention has the following advantages:
  • no need for external motorized power, which increases the reliability of the device, the engine of the gun is sufficient to itself;
  • a device lighter than those of the state of the art. This makes it possible to envisage the possibility of taking out all or part of the medium-caliber ammunition rack from the turret and filling it at least partially on the outside thereof, before replacing it and fixing it again to the inside the turret;
  • a device that can be made entirely of a light metal such as aluminum, which implies a weight saving;
  • a compact system located on the same side within the turret, in other words having a greatly reduced bulk;
  • a facility of loading either from inside or from outside the turret via a practical mobility at the level of plates constituting the structural elements of the device for example via small handles (especially at the feeder (s)) and / or "clips" (on the conveyors);
  • reduced friction with HDPE tapes over most of the journey;
  • adaptability of the different types of ammunition without changing the components of the device, thanks to the development of a guide made exclusively on the sleeve without touching the warhead of the ammunition. It should be noted in this respect that for the sizes 30 and 40 mm, for example, the shape and the diameter of the socket are identical.

These advantages largely compensate for some disadvantages such as residual vibrations at the level of the constituent plates of the structural elements, the noise of munitions that "jump" during conveying or the use of hoses.
