La représentation en position supérieure correspond au stade de la figure 3 et la représentation en position inférieur correspond à la pièce 10 après emboutissage. On peut constater que la pièce 10, en l'occurrence, est une pièce de longeron. Cette pièce est généralement allongée. On peut observer que l'extrémité gauche de la pièce, suivant sa direction longitudinale, est ouverte, à savoir que le bord correspondant 101 du flan de tôle ainsi formé ne doit pas subir d'étape de découpage (détourage). On peut également observer que l'extrémité de droite de la pièce, toujours suivant sa direction longitudinale, est semi-ouverte, à savoir qu'elle présente un bord 102 partiellement final. La patte 22 est présente sur ce bord 102 mais occupe une place réduite et ne doit pas nécessairement être découpée. Elle peut être dimensionnée pour ne pas gêner l'assemblage de la pièce lors de son montage. Les bords longitudinaux 103 et 104 quant à eux comprennent des portions destinées à être découpées. En effet, ces portions ont servi à retenir la tôle transversalement à sa direction principale lors de sa mise à forme, ce qui a permis d'assurer une mise à forme satisfaisante. La déformation appliquée à la tôle dans cette direction est en effet important en comparaison avec les déformations dans la direction longitudinale.The figure 7 illustrates in perspective the shape that the sheet metal blank 2 gradually takes, essentially at the four stages of the forming process illustrated in figures 3 to 6 , respectively. The longitudinal edges 10 3 and 10 4 for their part comprise portions intended to be cut. Indeed, these portions served to retain the sheet transversely to its main direction during its shaping, which made it possible to ensure satisfactory shaping. The deformation applied to the sheet in this direction is indeed large in comparison with the deformations in the longitudinal direction.

Claims (5)

  1. A method of forming a workpiece (10) by stamping a sheet metal blank (2), comprising the following steps:
    (a) placing the sheet metal blank (2) on a stamping forming tool comprising a die (4) and a punch (8) capable of engaging with the die (4);
    (b) the die (4) and the punch (8) are brought together in a working direction to form the workpiece (10);
    in step (a), the sheet blank (2) comprising at least one tab (22) with at least one edge, and in step (b), the or each of the tabs (22) being bent between the die (4) and the punch (8) and holding the sheet blank, the sheet blank (2) being generally elongated in a longitudinal direction, the or each of the edges comprising the tab or tabs being at one end, in said direction, of the sheet blank (2), the tooling comprising at least one blank clamp (6) disposed laterally at the edge One of the punch (8) and of the die (4) and capable of clamping the sheet blank (2) with the other of the punch (8) and of the die (4), the blank clamp or clamps (6) being slidably mounted against an elastic force, in step (b), the or at least one of the blank clamps (6) clamping the longitudinal edges of the elongated sheet blank (2), characterized in that in step (b), the or at least one of the blank clamps (6) clamps the front tab or tabs (22) It is folded between the die (4) and the punch (8).
  2. Method according to Claim 1, characterized in that the or each of the edges comprising the tab or tabs forms a final edge (102) of the part (10).
  3. Method according to one of Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that at the end of step (b) the lug or lugs (22) are bent in the working direction of the die (4) and the punch (8).
  4. Method according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that at the end of step (b), the or each of the tabs (22) comprises an angled portion forming a radius of curvature R of between 1 and 10 mm, preferably between 2 and 8 mm.
  5. Tool for forming a workpiece (10) by stamping a sheet metal blank (2) according to the method of one of claims 1 to 4, the tool comprising:
    - a matrix (4);
    - a punch (8) adapted to cooperate with the die (4) by engagement in said die (4); the punch (8) having an edge on one of these edges engaging in the die (4) so as to bend the tab or tabs (22) between the die (4) and the punch (8) and form the bent part of the tab (22),
    the tool further comprising at least one blank holder (6) arranged laterally to the punch (8) and capable of clamping the sheet metal blank (2) with at least one lateral portion (41) of the die (4), the blank holder(s) (6) being slidably mounted along the periphery of the punch against an elastic force, characterized in that the radius of curvature (R) of the edge of the punch (8) forming the bent portion of the tab (22) is between 1 and 10 mm, advantageously between 2 and 8 mm, in order to ensure retention of the blank of sheet metal (2) when shaping the part (10)
