Claims (15)

  1. A lid (10) made of metal, in particular aluminum, for a beverage can or the like, designed for permanent connection to a can body and having a lid panel (20), from which a rivet (40) is shaped and into which a predetermined breaking line (34), which defines a breaking-open area (18), is impressed, along which an opening in the lid panel (20) is to be opened by means of a grip tab (14), which is attached to the rivet and has a break-open edge (50) pressed against a predetermined pressing point (48) of the breaking-open area (18) by raising a grip section (28) of the grip tab when opening up the opening, wherein the lid panel (20) has a rivet base (47) around the rivet (40), in which the metal of the lid (10) is thinner and/or more brittle than in the regions of the lid panel (20) adjacent to the rivet base,
    characterized in that the predetermined breaking line (34) runs outside of the rivet base and in that a material-thinning embossment (44), which also runs outside of the rivet base and is designed in the form of an embossing recess and is associated with an embrittlement of the thinned-out material, is provided at least in a lid panel area situated between the rivet base (47) and the predetermined pressing point (48) of the breaking-open area (18), wherein a longitudinal section (46) of the predetermined breaking line (34) in this lid panel area overlaps with the material-thinning embossment (44) along the longitudinal section, wherein the embossing depth of the predetermined breaking line (34) is greater than the embossing depth of the material-thinning embossment (44).
  2. The lid (10) according to claim 1, characterized in that the grip tab (14) can be rotated around the rivet (40) in such a way that the grip section (28) of the grip tab (14) can be moved over the opening formed by breaking open the predetermined breaking line (34), wherein the grip section (28) is designed for closing the opening.
  3. The lid (10) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the predetermined breaking line (34) is impressed in the material-thinning embossment (44) along the longitudinal section (46) and exits from the material-thinning embossment at the ends of the longitudinal section.
  4. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the material-thinning embossment has a greater width, measured in the direction radially to the rivet, than the predetermined breaking line (34).
  5. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the material-thinning embossment has a width of 0.6 millimeter to 1 millimeter, measured radially to the rivet.
  6. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that a center line of the material-thinning embossment (44) is a distance of 4 millimeters to 4.5 millimeters from an axis of the rivet (40).
  7. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the embossing depth of the material-thinning embossment (44) is 0.03 millimeter to 0.05 millimeter.
  8. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that, optionally, the material-thinning embossment (44) runs in a curved shape at least partially around the rivet base (47) or
    the material-thinning embossment (44) runs partially around the rivet in a crescent shape, or the material-thinning embossment (44) runs outside of the rivet base tangentially to a circle around the rivet base.
  9. The lid (10) according to claim 8, characterized in that the material-thinning embossment (44), which runs in a curved shape at least partially around the rivet base (47), optionally runs in a ring shape concentrically around the rivet or runs partially around the rivet in a crescent shape.
  10. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the longitudinal section (46) of the predetermined breaking line (34) with which the material-thinning embossment (44) overlaps runs in a curved shape with the concave side facing the rivet.
  11. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that the rivet (40) is arranged on a bead (38), which is elevated with respect to a level of the lid panel (20) and runs around the breaking-open area, while the predetermined breaking line (34) and the material-thinning embossment (44) run at the level of the lid panel (20).
  12. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the material-thinning embossment (44) forms a recess on an exterior side (customer side) of the lid (10) facing away from the interior of the can.
  13. The lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the rivet (40) is arranged eccentrically on the lid panel (20).
  14. A method for producing a lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 through 13, characterized in that the shaping of the rivet (40) out of the lid panel (20) comprises the following steps:
    - shaping a bubble,
    - a first knob-shaping, and
    - a second knob-shaping,
    wherein the material-thinning embossment (44) is introduced during the second knob-shaping from an exterior side of the lid (10) into the lid panel (20) thereof, at which exterior side the grip tab (14) is subsequently attached (customer side), and then the predetermined breaking line (34) is impressed.
  15. The method for manufacturing a lid (10) according to at least one of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that the material-thinning embossment (44) is introduced in the lid (10) simultaneously with the predetermined breaking line (34), wherein the predetermined breaking line (34) is introduced from an exterior side of the lid (10) into the lid panel (20) thereof to which exterior side the grip tab (14) is attached subsequently (customer side) while the material-thinning embossment (44) is introduced into the lid (10) from the other side (product side) that faces the interior of the can after connecting with the can body.
