Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a cylinder block with an EGR cooler housing which has housing and parts in which the EGR cooler can be mounted on the engine cylinder block.
  • EGR exhaust gas recirculation
  • EGR cooler By means of EGR system, combustion temperature is reduced, and the generation of nitrogen oxide gas is decreased.
  • EGR cooler is used in order to send more gas to the combustion chamber by increasing the density of the gas.
  • EGR cooler is placed different places around the engine depending on the engine package, and it is fixed on placed where it is located differently. Connecting members and carriers have to be placed around the engine for the mounting of EGR cooler, and these procedures cause additional weight and space loss.
  • the EGR coolers used today are mostly fixed somewhere close to the engine or somewhere on the engine. A connection is made between the place where the EGR cooler is fixed and the engine, and thus exhaust gases are enabled to be cooled.
  • Japanese Patent document no JP2001132556 an application known in the state of the art, discloses a cooling device used for EGR and oil.
  • the device there is a housing part which is directly connected to the cylinder block and EGR and oil heat exchanger. Therefore, the pipes directing the coolant to the cooler housing are eliminated.
  • the said patent document there is no explanation about mounting the EGR cooler into a housing on the engine block, or how it can be mounted.
  • the EGR cooler is mounted into the cylinder block with the invention of the present application. Therefore, an extra space is not needed for the EGR block and connection is enabled to be easy.
  • the German patent document no. DE102012013884 (Al), an application in the state of the art, discloses a fastening assembly used in the cylinder head.
  • the fastening assembly there is a clamping strip which fixes the attachment unit to the cylinder head.
  • the clamping strip there is a positioning element which fixes the cylinder head.
  • mounting the EGR cooler into a housing on the engine block there are obvious differences between the German Patent document and the invention of the present application in terms of forming a housing on the cylinder block for EGR cooler and fixing the EGR cooler into this housing with the connecting members.
  • the EGR cooler is mounted into the cylinder block with the invention of the present application. Therefore, an extra space is not needed for the EGR block and connection is enabled to be easy.
  • EGR cooler In the current applications, EGR cooler is generally placed on the engine or somewhere close to the engine block. Therefore it is targeted to form a compact structure for cooling the combustion gas.
  • mounting the EGR cooler into a housing on the cylinder block is not disclosed. It is not disclosed that a special housing is made on the engine cylinder block is formed during casting for the EGR cooleT, and the EGR cooler is directly mounted into the said housing. There is no explanation about the members completely fitting on the engine cylinder block according to the form of the EGR cooler and mounting the cooler to the cylinder block with the connecting members integrated to the said housing.
  • the objective of the present invention is to provide a cylinder block with EGR cooler housing wherein there is an area on the engine cylinder block in which the EGR cooler can be mounted.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to provide a cylinder block with EGR cooler housing which enables the EGR cooler to be mounted on the cylinder block.
  • a further objective of the present invention is to provide a cylinder block with EGR cooler housing which does not take extra space on the vehicle, provides ease of packing and wherein the engine weight is decreased.
  • An area is formed on the block for EGR cooler during casting the cylinder block.
  • the said area on the cylinder block is preferably in form of EGR cooler or it is close to this form.
  • EGR cooler area is preferably obtained by forming base and side surface on the body and connecting them. The EGR cooler is placed on this area on the body or within the body and fixed with the connecting members. Therefore, a compact area on which EGR cooler can be mounted with the engine cylinder block is formed, and the cooler is mounted here. Therefore, the cooler is placed close to the place where it is to be used, and there is no need for planning and extra space for the cooler.
  • Figure 1 is the schematic view of the cylinder block with EGR cooler housing.
  • Figure 2 is the schematic view of the cylinder block with EGR cooler housing without connecting members.
  • Figure 3 is the close schematic view of the cylinder block with EGR cooler housing.
  • Figure 4 is the close schematic view of the cylinder block with EGR cooler housing without connecting members.
  • FIG. 5 is the schematic view of the cylinder block on which the EGR cooler housing is placed.
  • the components shown in the figures are each given reference numbers as follows:

  • At least one housing (3) which forms an area preferably in same sizes with EGR cooler (E) inside or outside the body (2), on the body (2),
  • the EGR cooler (E) is mounted on the area separated for itself on the cylinder block body (2) and measured for the EGR cooler (E), therefore space is saved in the limited area under the hood.
  • engine cylinder block body (2) is manufactured specially so that that the EGR cooler (E) does not take much space.
  • the housing (3) is preferably in somewhere close to the chambers wherein the combustion takes place in the engine on the body (2).
  • the housing (3) is on the body (2) or within the body (2).
  • the housing (3) is on the body (2) or inside an area which is formed with recess or protrusion inwards or outwards on the body (2).
  • the housing (3) is preferably in size close to the EGR cooler (E), it is compatible with the structure of the EGR cooler (E).
  • the protruding, recessed, narrowing and widened parts of the EGR cooler (E) are similar in the housing (3), and there are protrusions, recesses, narrowing, and widened parts on the housing (3) Symmetrical to the EGR cooler (E).
  • the housing (3) is close to the combustion chamber and it is at least in size of the EGR cooler (E).
  • the base (4) forms the lower surface of the housing (3).
  • the base (4) is protruding outwards the body (2) or it is recessed inwards the body (2). In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the base (4) is protruding outwards the body (2) and it forms the ground of the housing (3).
  • the base (4) is provided on the body (2) parallel to the ground or in an angular way. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the base (4) is almost parallel to the ground.
  • the base (4) forms the lower surface of the housing (3) and performs carrying. Large part of the EGR cooler (E) weight is carried by the base (4).
  • the inventive cylinder block with EGR cooler housing (1) there is a lateral surface connected to the base (4) and angular to the base (4).
