  • the present invention relates to packaging for a consumable product having a temperature- sensitive edible component, wherein the packaging comprises a housing which provides an enclosed environment for the consumable product, wherein at least one air channel is provided, which exposes the interior of the housing to the outside atmosphere, wherein the air channel comprises at least one bend so as to prevent a rigid implement from entering the interior of the packaging via the air channel without colliding with the walls of the packaging.
  • the present invention thus provides for a mechanism for allowing temperature equalisation with the outside atmosphere without compromising the integrity of the packaging or its ability to preserve shelf-life.

Multiple bends provide greater protection against foreign bodies entering the packaging, e.g. dust or other ambient entities which can influence the hygiene or product safety aspects of the consumable product stored inside.
