Definitions
- the invention relates to a composition, a method for producing the composition and a sealing device and a method for sealing problematic substances, in particular toxic and / or radioactive problematic substances, or containers with problematic substances, in particular toxic and / or radioactive problematic substances.
- DE 23 56 253 A1 discloses a method for preparing waste fluids containing organic radioactive materials for environmentally friendly and safe handling, transportation and disposal, wherein the organic waste liquids are brought into contact with organic solids.
- Organic, radioactively contaminated waste liquids are, in particular, phosphoric acid esters, organophosphoric acids, the mixtures of which with hydrocarbons, such as are obtained in the reprocessing of irradiated nuclear fuels, of other solvents used from radiochemical experiments or contaminated machine oils.
- tributyl phosphate is mentioned as one of these waste liquids.
- two waste liquids are explicitly mentioned, namely tributyl phosphate / dodecane and motor oil or machine oil.
- the motor oil or machine oil here is therefore an organic waste liquid that contains radioactive contaminated or radioactive substances and should be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
- the organic waste liquid is first mixed in a process step a) with an organic solid to form a homogeneous mass which is soft at room temperature and is unstable.
- a hydraulic binder is slurried in water in a mixing ratio of hydraulic binder to water of up to the order of magnitude of 0.4, based on the amounts by weight.
- the organic mass which is formed by mixing the organic waste liquid with the organic solid in process step a), is introduced into the slurry, which has resulted from the slurrying of the hydraulic binder in water in process step b) and distributed and then let the hydraulic binder bind to a solid, uniform molded body.
- thin motor oil as a contaminated, organic waste liquid
- a hard bitumen grade such as R 135/10
- the appropriate consistency is obtained with a weight ratio of 1: 1.
- Viscous machine oil can be DE 23 56 253 A1 even mix in a 2: 1 ratio with hard bitumen. With plastics one could achieve much more favorable conditions and thus mix even more waste liquid into the organic solid, as described in the further examples.
- the ratio between organic mass and slurry is preferably chosen between 1: 2 and 1: 3.
- Hydraulic binders can be, in particular, cement or gypsum, in particular in a weight ratio between 1: 2 and 1: 3.
- Weight ratio of organic waste liquid to bitumen in DE 23 56 253 A1 up to approx. 2: 1 specified. It is in DE 23 56 253 A1 also described that if mixing at room temperature is difficult, the organic waste liquid and solid may be heated to form a homogeneous liquid mixture and the mixture is then allowed to cool to a soft, dimensionally unstable mass.
- DE 10 2011 011 166 A1 discloses a composition and method for underground disposal of radioactive material over long periods of time.
- the radioactive material that is brought into underground premises is encased with the composition, which consists wholly or partly of bitumen, and is enclosed for millennia.
- Bitumen is said to be a mixture of higher hydrocarbons and heterocyclic compounds and is inert to the environment and free of any toxicity, and is long-term stable given its natural, unchanged occurrence in 10 million year old deposits. Bitumen is extracted from natural deposits or petroleum distillation.
- DE 10 2011 011 166 A1 further describes that by Ingress of water and the resulting chemical reactions as well as groundwater contact increasing environmental contamination takes its course.
- bitumen composition according to the DE 10 2011 011 166 A1 closes the radioactive material in underground cavities permanently against the environment, especially against water. Bitumen is hydrophobic and an absolute diffusion barrier. By covering the underground repositories, any contact between the stored material and the surrounding water is prevented. This means that radioactivity cannot be flushed into the environment. Due to its higher specific weight, the bitumen composition displaces the water from already flooded repositories, and the already stored material is protected against any further contact with groundwater. New repositories will be completely filled with the composition once the assembly has been completed, in particular via pipes.
- the flow properties of the bitumen composition are set according to the parameters on site - such as temperature, geological conditions, etc.
- the viscosity is measured with biological oils - such as B. rapeseed oil, olive oil, sunflower oil etc. - discontinued.
- biological oils such as B. rapeseed oil, olive oil, sunflower oil etc. - discontinued.
- the bitumen composition can be filled with fillers such as Sand, mineral granules, etc. are added, which increase the specific weight and let the mixture sink better. Since the viscosity of the bitumen is constant and, like liquids, it cannot be compressed, this known bitumen composition also offers the greatest possible protection against the destruction of the final containers filled with radioactive material in the event of collapse.
- the bitumen composition can be mixed with activated carbon, which radioactive noble gases resulting from the core decay - such as. B Xenon - for decaying their radiation (from a few weeks to months).
- Bitumen from plate material for example punched out in a confetti-like manner, can also be admixed with the aid of superplasticizers, and thus porous points surrounding the geological formation can be sealed.
- vegetable or technical fibers can also be added.
- Bitumen refers to a mixture of various organic substances, both naturally occurring and obtained from petroleum by vacuum distillation, mainly high molecular weight hydrocarbons (long-chain; aliphatic and aromatic) and chemically bound in small amounts sulfur, oxygen, nitrogen and some traces of metals. Bitumen is non-toxic and must be distinguished from the carcinogenic tar that remains from residues in the pyrolysis of natural products such as hard coal. Bitumen is practically insoluble in water (hydrophobic) and is therefore used, for example, to protect sensitive substances and components against water.
- Bitumen is one of the thermoplastic materials and its viscosity is temperature-dependent: at room temperature it is solid and brittle, when heated it continuously passes through all states from solid (glassy) to viscous to thin. Typical processing temperatures to make bitumen sufficiently viscous are between 160 and 200 ° C. As temperatures continue to rise, it begins to slowly decompose. Bitumen is also chemically stable to non-oxidizing acids and bases, but is flammable at higher temperatures. Bitumen is partially soluble or swelling in liquid hydrocarbons, such as. B. petrol, toluene, diesel, oils or other non-polar solvents.
- Unmodified bitumen cannot be processed or pumped at normal ambient temperatures. To process bitumen into an end product, it is usually heated to its liquid state (hot-viscous bitumen) or as a bitumen emulsion (bitumen emulsified in water), foamed bitumen (addition of water and ambient air) or as a waste bitumen (addition of solvents).
- hot-viscous bitumen or as a bitumen emulsion (bitumen emulsified in water), foamed bitumen (addition of water and ambient air) or as a waste bitumen (addition of solvents).
- flux bitumen flux agents, which are petro-derived, low volatile oils (flux oils) are added for easier processing. Heating the resulting flux bitumen remains necessary for further processing; it is only possible to reduce the processing temperature to e.g. 110 ° C can be reached.
- the petro-derived fluxes can be replaced by oils from renewable raw materials.
- bitumen composition according to DE 10 2011 011 166 A1 is not very dimensionally stable, especially under pressure, and is also not ideal for producing dimensionally stable components.
- Concrete is an artificial building material that consists of a mixture of binders, usually cement, and aggregates, usually an aggregate, usually sand and gravel and split, and water and, if necessary, other additives by hardening (or: hardening or setting) the Cement-water mixture is created.
- the hardened cement is water-resistant and gives the concrete, as a binding matrix, a high compressive strength of 20 to over 150 N / mm 2 .
- Concrete can be used as unreinforced concrete or especially to increase its tensile strength, in a composite material or as reinforced concrete with reinforcement elements, especially as reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete with reinforcement steel elements or, by adding fibers made of steel, plastic or glass, as fiber concrete or in combination with fabrics or knitted fabrics as textile concrete .
- Mortar is closely related to concrete, which form a mixture of binder and water and usually also a fine aggregate and any other additives.
- the aggregate With mortar, the aggregate is fine with a maximum of 4 mm in diameter or grain size, with concrete, the aggregate is coarser with larger grain sizes.
- Mineral binders are generally used as binders for mortar, such as lime, cement, plaster, anhydrite, magnesite, pozzolane and clay, or else organic binders (plastics, wall adhesives).
- the aggregate for mortar is mostly sand, but other materials such as fine gravel or wood chips or split can also be used.
- Mortar is mostly used for connecting bricks (masonry mortar) or for plastering walls (plastering mortar). There are also many standards for mortars.
- the composition should in particular be suitable for enclosing or for storage, in particular final storage, of problematic substances for a sufficiently long period of time and / or for a longer or longer period of time both form a moisture and diffusion barrier and also offer or guarantee static strength and resistance.
- a method for producing such a composition is also to be specified.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a sealing device and a method for sealing problematic substances, in particular to indicate toxic and / or radioactive problematic substances, or containers with problematic substances, in particular toxic and / or radioactive problematic substances, also over sufficiently long periods of time. Sufficiently long periods are to be understood here in particular as periods in which the problematic substance remains problematic or dangerous, in particular too radioactive or toxic, and should be sealed. Depending on the problem substance, periods of several decades or several centuries or even many millennia can be affected. Storage or sealing can take place underground or above ground or outside of the earth.
- composition which contains a not yet hardened (or: not yet set) flowable concrete mixture or mortar mixture and at least one cold-viscous bitumen and in particular consists of these two components.
- Cold viscous here means that the low viscosity or flowability of the bitumen required for processing and miscibility exists at ambient temperatures, i.e. especially at processing temperatures that are far from both the freezing point and the area of critical evaporation of the water, i.e. the mixing water in the concrete or mortar are removed enough, in particular from a processing temperature range of 5 ° C. to 70 ° C., in particular 10 ° C. to 30 ° C., the concrete mixture or mortar mixture preferably curing at this processing temperature.
- the cold-viscous bitumen can be mixed in homogeneously and does not negatively influence the homogeneity and hardening of the mortar or concrete.
- a method for producing a composition according to claim 10 in which a not yet hardened (or: not yet set) flowable concrete mixture or mortar mixture and at least one cold-viscous bitumen are mixed, preferably the cold-viscous bitumen at a processing temperature, in which the concrete mixture or mortar mixture hardens, in particular from a processing temperature range of 5 ° C to 70 ° C, in particular 10 ° C to 30 ° C, low viscosity or flowable.
- bitumen is generally obtained and used in a manner known per se in all embodiments of the composition or the manufacturing process, e.g. as natural bitumen or as a product from the petro-industry or petroleum distillation, as stated above.
- This bitumen known per se and not flowable at ambient temperature, is made cold-viscous by adding or mixing with vegetable oil (s) (vegetable oil-modified bitumen).
- vegetable oil s
- vegetable oil-modified cold-viscous bitumen is very stable and non-toxic.
- the viscosity of the vegetable oil modified cold viscous bitumen is generally dependent on the amount or proportion of the vegetable oil added and is lower (i.e. higher flowability) when more vegetable oil is added.
- the proportion of vegetable oil in the bitumen-vegetable oil mixture i.e. in the vegetable oil-modified bitumen, in particular, a range from 10% to 80%, in particular from 20% to 60%, can be selected, the percentages being percentages by mass (M%).
- the vegetable oil is added or mixed with the vegetable oil after heating the solid or block-shaped bitumen for liquefaction (or: to achieve flowability) to temperatures of typically 140 ° C. to 180 ° C. at which the bitumen is flowable and good or is homogeneously miscible.
- the vegetable oil is preferably thermal at least up to these temperatures resistant, which applies to most commercially available vegetable oils, especially the aforementioned vegetable oils.
- the liquefied bitumen is mixed well with the vegetable oil, for example in a container using a stirrer, and the mixture is then cooled to ambient temperature or processing temperature for further processing in the concrete or mortar until a cold-viscous, flowable bitumen mixture, or cold-viscous bitumen, is formed.
- Rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, palm oil or safflower oil or mixtures thereof can advantageously be used as vegetable oil.
- bitumen which is not according to the invention by means of suitable organic solvents and also petro-derived oils with a cold viscosity.
- suitable organic solvents and also petro-derived oils with a cold viscosity usually evaporate faster than the vegetable oils, which have very low evaporation rates at ambient temperatures and are therefore also advantageous for long-term use.
- Bitumen emulsions prove to be rather unsuitable.
- the concrete mixture or mortar mixture and the at least one cold-viscous bitumen are preferably present in a flowable mixture and / or are homogeneously mixed with one another.
- the not yet hardened or the already hardened concrete mixture (concrete) or mortar mixture (mortar) on the one hand and the cold-viscous vegetable oil-modified bitumen on the other hand at least partially spatially, e.g. in different layers such as a sandwich construction, or in different areas such as lattice structures or the like to arrange or to fill in the concrete or mortar, for example bubbles or pores of bubble or aerated concrete or the like, with the cold-viscous bitumen gaps or voids, preferably in sizes of 1 mm and larger.
- the concrete mixture or mortar mixture generally has at least one binder, which in particular consists of cement, lime, anhydrite, Magnesite, puzzolane and clay and organic binders group of binders is selected, and generally comprises water and usually (except for mortars that only contain binders) at least one aggregate, which is in particular at least one aggregate, and optionally other additives to adjust the properties of the concrete or mortar and / or reinforcement elements for reinforcement.
- binder which in particular consists of cement, lime, anhydrite, Magnesite, puzzolane and clay and organic binders group of binders is selected, and generally comprises water and usually (except for mortars that only contain binders) at least one aggregate, which is in particular at least one aggregate, and optionally other additives to adjust the properties of the concrete or mortar and / or reinforcement elements for reinforcement.
- the invention is based in particular on the surprising consideration and knowledge that the very different materials mortar or concrete on one side and bitumen on the other side can be mixed when using cold-viscous vegetable oil-modified bitumen.
- bitumen on the one hand
- water content of the mortar or concrete on the other hand, which make mixing difficult to imagine, surprisingly, an intimate and long-term stable compound and a completely new composition are obtained, which after curing of the binder (s) of the mortar or concrete is dimensionally and pressure-resistant and is impermeable to water and moisture for sufficiently long periods.
- the cold-viscous, vegetable oil-modified bitumen shows an excellent affinity and adhesion to the aggregates and binders of mortar and concrete and wets the fine particles and / or the (partially) crystalline structure in the binder practically completely, whereby the wetting as a thin layer down to only molecular thickness can be formed and probably Van der Waals forces play an important role here.
- This penetration or penetration of the hardened bitumen mortar or bitumen concrete in its binding matrix or the interstices of the aggregate grain by the cold-viscous bitumen is obviously advantageous for the observed properties such as the diffusion barrier and the crack-free deformability.
- the addition of cold viscous, vegetable oil-modified bitumen significantly reduces water absorption in mortar or concrete, in particular by up to 80%.
- the bitumen is added or mixed in cold-viscous form. This also avoids that when adding usually processed hot-viscous bitumen, the water in the mortar or concrete mass suddenly evaporates due to the high temperatures and this leads to bubbles or cavities and that the bitumen may solidify too early and cannot form a complete diffusion barrier in the spaces between the aggregate grain or in the binding matrix.
- This new type of bitumen mortar or bitumen concrete according to the invention shows, due to the bitumen in the binding matrix, together with the hardened binder of the mortar or concrete, plastic and elastic properties that allow deformation and vibration resistance within wide limits that can be set via the mixing ratio without crack formation. One could also speak somewhat less precisely of an incomplete hardening of the mortar or concrete.
- the addition or mixing of the bitumen to or with the mortar or concrete also prevents diffusion or passage of water and thus also of problematic substances taken up in water from occurring later through cracks.
- a surprising synergistic effect and combination of the two completely different building materials mortar or concrete on the one hand and bitumen on the other hand is achieved in a new composition which, in addition to being generally applicable as a new building material, also addresses the urgent and major problem of storage, especially final storage, can solve problematic substances.
- the mortar or concrete components bring dimensional stability and compressive strength and manufacturability as molded parts into the new material, which properties through the Addition of the bitumen can be reduced, if at all insignificantly.
- the bitumen causes ductility without cracking and can also cause mechanical damping behavior, generally within limits that can be set via the mixing ratio, and also ensures a diffusion barrier and water impermeability in the material.
- the properties of the composition according to the invention already in the uncured state for example flow behavior, consistency and stiffening behavior, but above all in the cured state, for example pressure resistance, density, diffusion or liquid permeability, modulus of elasticity and damping properties, are dependent, inter alia, on the mixing ratio of cold-viscosity Bitumen to the not yet hardened flowable concrete mixture or mortar mixture in the composition or the proportion of the cold-viscous bitumen in the composition.
- the increasing the proportion of cold-viscous bitumen, the compressive strength decreases at least in part intervals and the dynamic modulus of elasticity as well as the damping, i.e.
- the hardened composition tends to be softer, less stiff and elastic and more damping with more cold-viscous bitumen.
- the property as a diffusion barrier and moisture barrier or water impermeability is achieved even with surprisingly low bitumen proportions, since a molecular wetting in the structure is sufficient for this.
- the following proportions of cold-viscous bitumen have been found to be advantageous:
- composition according to the invention can be used as a new type of bitumen mortar or bitumen concrete in general in building technology, but in particular without restricting generality in applications in which deformations occur, particularly as a result of vibrations and if possible no cracking should occur, and / or an impermeability to moisture is required and / or resistance to acids or salt is desired.
- Such applications can be found e.g. B. in construction technology in which an avoidance of cracks and / or an impermeability to water or moisture is desired, such as in reinforced concrete or in basement walls (wash basins) or foundations.
- composition according to the invention finds a particularly preferred special application for enclosing or enveloping or sealing or for storing problematic substances, in particular toxic and / or radioactive problematic substances.
- the concrete mixture or the mortar mixture or the composition has at least one additive that is effective or shielding against radioactivity, in particular activated carbon that retains radioactive gases and / or barite (heavy spar), that shields the radioactive radiation.
- the composition or the concrete mixture or the mortar mixture of the composition can contain highly heat-conducting aggregates or substances or also embedded parts, for example made of metal or metal ore, in particular with iron, steel or copper, in particular for dissipating heat which is the result of radioactivity or also chemical Reactions arise.
- a sealing device for sealing problem substances or containers with problem substances, in particular toxic and / or radioactive problem substances is proposed, wherein the sealing device is at least partially formed from a hardened one A composition according to the invention or a cured composition made by a method according to the invention.
- the sealing device generally envelops the problem substance or container. This can be accomplished by pouring in the composition that has not yet cured, whereby the problem substance or container and then the sealing device in particular can be located within a natural or artificial housing, for example within an underground cavity in rock or a building. Furthermore, the sealing device can also be formed in the form of prefabricated components or a prefabricated housing with or from the hardened composition.
- the sealing device can contain highly heat-conducting heat-conducting elements embedded in the hardened composition, which, for example, consist at least partially of metal or metal ore, in particular with iron or steel or copper, for dissipating heat which is in or on the problem substance as a result of the radioactivity or also chemical Reactions arise.
- the invention proposes a method for sealing problematic substances, in particular toxic and / or radioactive problematic substances, or containers with problematic substances, in particular toxic and / or radioactive problematic substances, in which the problematic substances or containers, in particular in a deposit, for example encased within a natural or artificial enclosure such as an underground cavity in rock or a building, with a sealing device according to the invention or with a cured composition according to the invention and / or with a cured composition made by a method according to the invention be surrounded.
- the not yet cured composition according to the invention can be sealed with the problematic substances Soil or area of the earth's surface or crust are injected.
- the problematic substances can first be made from water contaminated with them with a binder such as Gypsum is bound and then sealed in bound form or blocks.
- the concrete composition can be supplemented - such as ore-containing minerals - for radiation protection or substances to neutralize chemicals. Furthermore, the reinforcements common in concrete construction can be used.
- the impermeability and the diffusion behavior of the concrete can be adjusted.
- the concrete retains its tried and tested strength, depending on the mixing ratio. In addition to the usual reinforcement and casting processes, this also enables the production of structural components.
- composition according to the invention can be used for all types of concrete construction.
- the advantage according to the invention is, in particular, to use the proven properties of concrete and bitumen - in the composition - synergetically through permanent structural structures.
- composition according to the invention enables protection up to geological time periods.

Description

- In
