  • Vertical wood log splitters are slot machines that are well known. They generally comprise a base which receives a log in a vertical position to be split and a vertically arranged wedge controlled by a hydraulic cylinder or the like which makes it possible to split the log in half lengthwise. It is therefore essential that the log is, before any slot operation, arranged in a vertical position on the base. In general, the vertical positioning of the log on the base is done manually. In most cases, the operator must manually straighten the log from a horizontal position to a vertical position and make sure to center the lower end of the log on the base. This manual operation has the disadvantage of being tiring for the operator, source of back disorders, and not being secured.
