Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for producing a decorated wood-based panel and a panel produced from the wood-based panel.
  • a method for producing a decorative wood-based panel in which, as in the aforementioned publication, a primer is applied to the top of the wood-based panel before the paint is applied.
  • An aqueous solution containing at least one metal salt can be used as a primer.
  • the primer is applied to the top using a digital printer.
  • An aqueous ink is then applied to the primer layer.
  • a method for finishing a wood or wood-based panel, in particular MDF or HDF board with a top and a bottom is known, in which a sealing layer of melamine resin is first applied to the top of the panel, a decoration is printed on the sealing layer and then on the Decor then a protective layer of melamine resin is applied. Then the structure of the plate is pressed under the action of temperature until the protective layer and the sealing layer melt and join together, including the printed decoration.
  • DE 195 32 819 A1 discloses a method for producing a wood-based panel with an optically configurable surface, in which a primer, a seal, a print base and a decorative print are applied to the wood-based panel in succession.
  • the printing base is built up from a primer coloring or a primer, a lacquer sealer and a surface lacquer.
  • a decorative print for example in a two-color print, can be printed on the print base by means of engraved cylinders.
  • a multilayer acrylic UV varnish can be applied to this print, which can be hardened using UV light.
  • the DE 197 51 115 A1 discloses a method for coating a panel, in which at least one color layer is applied to the surface by means of a printing process, in particular by means of screen printing.
  • the surface can be untreated, sanded or pretreated, in particular painted.
  • the applied color layer can be covered by a coating with clear lacquer.
  • An aqueous melamine resin is used as a primer, which is applied to the primer in several layers.
  • This primer contains 40% to 50% water, which has to be dried out again after application.
  • the individual layers of the primer must be applied thinly. Before the next layer is applied, the previously applied layer must be dried. Up to four layers must be applied so that an even primer layer is created that can be used as a suitable substrate for the subsequent decor print will. Since every layer applied must be dried, a dryer section must be provided behind the application unit.
  • the aqueous melamine resin is conveyed from a container onto an application roller, from where excess resin is wiped off and returned to the container. Then the primer layer is applied thinly to the primer using the roller.
  • the melamine resin of the primer which comes into contact with the ambient air, becomes encrusted over time.
  • the application unit with its inlets and outlets must be cleaned regularly. To do this, the system must be shut down and dismantled. The application unit is cleaned manually. In a typical production plant, cleaning intervals of two times a week of around three hours and once a month of 24 hours are provided. During this time, the entire coating system is idle and around 10 people are needed to clean four application units so that the system can be started up again after 24 hours.
  • the post-published EP 2 762 328 A1 discloses a method for producing a decorated wood-based panel coated on both sides, and the subsequently published EP 2 730 430 A1 discloses a method for treating a wood-based panel and a building panel with a core made of wood-based material.
  • the invention provides that a water-based, white color is used as the base color, which is applied to the dried primer by means of a digital printer, and that the resin is applied in liquid form for sealing.
  • This configuration of the method makes it possible to use only as much amount of basic color as is needed directly for the basic color layer to be produced. There is no need for an excessive amount of paint to be scraped off because the number of color points and the amount of paint used for each color point can be adjusted.
  • the liquid application of the resin for the sealing layer simplifies the process sequence and the amount of resin to be used can be easily adjusted and controlled.
  • An inkjet printer is preferably used as the digital printer.
  • the inkjet printer also has the advantage that it is equipped with automatic cleaning of the inkjet nozzles can be.
  • the inkjet nozzles can be hermetically sealed. This prevents encrustation of the water-based paint. Only when the inkjet printer is shut down can incrustations appear in the nozzle, which can be quickly removed by a solvent. Decontaminated liquid is only produced to a very small extent.
  • the base color is pigmented white and, according to the invention, is applied in only one single layer.
  • the water entry into the production process is significantly reduced, so that a single dryer is sufficient to dry the applied base color layer.
  • the construction effort for the production plant is thereby significantly reduced. Since there is almost no manual cleaning required, there is no need for the system to be downtimes during maintenance. Maintenance personnel is no longer required to clean the system and the production time for the wood-based panel is significantly increased due to the shortened drying zone. Overall, the production process is not only simplified, but also enormously cheaper, which increases the competitiveness of the panel manufacturer.
  • the decor is applied by means of a digital printer, in particular an inkjet printer, whereby it is also advantageous here if the decor is applied in just a single layer, which then also reduces the dryer distance and drying time when decor printing, whereby the production time is further shortened.
  • the digital printer is attached above a conveyor belt with which the wood-based panel is transported in one transport direction.
  • a plurality of printheads with a multiplicity of nozzles can be used, especially when using an inkjet printer be provided, which are arranged parallel to one another.
  • the print heads can be arranged in a stationary manner transversely over the transport device or can be moved across the plate in an oscillating manner transversely to the transport direction in order to apply the primer and / or the decoration.
  • a primer is preferably printed onto the base color layer as a printing base for the decoration.
  • the primer is preferably transparent.
  • the liquid resin for the primer and the sealing is preferably made aqueous.
  • the resin forming the seal can be enriched with abrasion-resistant particles, glass and / or cellulose.
  • a surface structure is preferably formed which, in particular, is preferably at least partially brought into conformity with the decoration (“synchronous pore”).
  • the carrier plate is preferably pressed with the primer applied on the top, the base color, the decor and the seal, as well as with a counter-pull applied on the underside, under the effect of pressure and temperature.
  • the values for the pressure and the temperature correspond to the values usually used in laminate production.
  • the wood-based panel is preferably an MDF, HDF or chipboard.
  • a transparent primer layer is preferably arranged between the colored layer and the decorative layer.
  • glued wood fibers or wood chips are scattered to form a wood-based material cake.
  • This wood-based material cake is then pressed under an increased temperature influence to form a carrier plate, which is provided in a mill-finished form and has a pressed skin formed during its manufacture on at least one of its upper sides.
  • These carrier plates which have a size of approximately 5.60 mx 2 m, are first stacked until they are fed into the further coating operation.
  • the pressed skin can be ground or partially ground off from the top. If the underside of the carrier plate is also provided with a pressed skin, this can also be partially or at least partially ground off. However, it is not absolutely necessary to grind the pressed skin on or off. It can also be left untreated.
  • the carrier plate pre-treated in this way is then transported under an infrared radiator so that it is heated.
  • a primer made of a liquid melamine-based resin is applied to the pressed skin of the carrier plate, the resin at least partially penetrating into the upper edge layer of the upper side of the carrier plate and thereby at least partially penetrating and tempering the pressed skin.
  • This primer is then dried.
  • a nozzle dryer is preferably used, under which the carrier plate is conveyed.
  • An infrared heater can also be used as an option.
  • a water-based base color instead of a primer is then applied to the dried primer by means of a digital printer, which is preferably an inkjet printer.
  • the base color is pigmented white and is applied to the primer in just one layer.
  • the color dots of the digital printer can be in size and Number can be set so that the amount of paint that is required to create a closed surface as a primer layer, which is of uniform white color and is therefore immediately suitable for subsequent decor printing, can be set exactly.
  • This primer layer is then dried, in which case a nozzle dryer or optionally an infrared radiator, under which the plate is conveyed, is again preferably used.
  • a transparent primer for the subsequent decorative print is preferably applied to the dried base color layer as the printing base.
  • the degree of whiteness of the base color layer is measured so that the decorative print or the printer used for the decorative print can, if necessary, be controlled according to the degree of whiteness.
  • the decor is then printed onto the optionally applied and dried primer layer.
  • printing units can consist of several printing rollers arranged one behind the other, with which different colors are printed.
  • a wood decor is preferably printed in four-color printing, although any other type of decor can also be provided.
  • pressure rollers it is also possible to use a digital printer, preferably an inkjet printer, with which the decoration can be applied in a single layer.
  • the decorative layer is then dried.
  • an infrared radiator is preferably used, under which the carrier plate is conveyed.
  • a cover layer made of a water-based melamine resin, preferably liquid, is applied to the dry decorative layer and is then dried.
  • the carrier plates coated in this way can then first of all be stacked before they are fed to a further coating.
  • the dried cover layer is intended to protect the decorative layer when the panels are stacked on top of one another.
  • the carrier plates coated in this way can then be coated with a liquid overlay, i.e. a sealing layer consisting of a liquid melamine-based resin, and the entire coating structure can then be pressed with the carrier plate in a short-cycle press under high pressure and high temperature to form a finished laminate will.
  • This liquid resin can be enriched with abrasion-resistant particles and cellulose fibers.
  • the cover layer applied to the decorative layer can be omitted and the liquid overlay can be applied immediately to the decorative layer.
  • the coating of the carrier plate with the liquid overlay is for example in the EP 2 338 693 B1 described.
  • a first upper resin layer containing corundum particles is applied to the cleaned surface. The abrasion resistance of this layer is increased by the corundum particles in the first upper resin layer.
  • the corundum is present, for example, as a mixture of conventional silanized corundum of different grain sizes and can simply be added to the resin.
  • a water-based melamine resin is also preferably used here.
  • a first lower corundum-free resin layer is applied to the underside of the wood-based panel, whereby the tensile forces acting on the wood-based panel are compensated for by the first upper resin layer.
  • the first lower resin layer can be colored. Additives such as hardeners, wetting agents or release agents can be added to both resin layers.
  • the first upper resin layer and the first lower resin layer are then dried in order to ensure the clean application of a next resin layer.
  • the drying takes place, for example, by means of hot air under a nozzle dryer or an infrared radiator, the resin being dried and the chemical crosslinking reaction of the melamine resin being stopped. As already explained, the drying can be carried out using infrared emitters.
  • the chemical crosslinking reaction is stopped and water is removed from the coating material until it is adjusted to a residual moisture content of about 3% to 6%.
  • a second resin layer is then applied to the first upper and lower resin layer, the resin layer applied to the upper side containing cellulose.
  • the second resin layers are then also dried to a residual moisture content of 3% to 6%.
  • a third resin layer can then be applied, wherein the resin layer applied to the upper side can contain glass particles.
  • the third resin layer which is then applied to the top and bottom of the carrier plate, is also dried to a residual moisture content of 3% to 6%.
  • the layer structure created in this way is then pressed with the carrier plate in a short-cycle press under the influence of pressure and temperature.
  • the cellulose that is present in the second upper resin layer is in the form of commercially available fibers that can also be added to the resin layers to be applied.
  • the glass introduced into the third upper resin layer is available as commercially available micro glass spheres. These, too, can easily be stored and incorporated into the resin layer to be applied.
  • the resin layers applied to the underside of the wood-based panel can be colored. Additives such as hardeners, wetting and release agents can be added to all resin layers. By drying to a residual moisture of 3% to 6%, the crosslinking process of the applied resin layers is prevented. During the subsequent pressing under pressure and temperature resistance, the resin layers melt again and the crosslinking process continues.
  • the third upper resin layer preferably contains a proportion of 20% glass particles. About 5% cellulose has proven advantageous for the second upper resin layer.
  • the first upper resin layer contains in particular 2% corundum particles.
  • the upper resin layers and the lower resin layers are applied in an amount of 20 g / m 2 to 50 g / m 2 .
  • the fact that the melamine resin layers applied to the top and bottom are applied in the same amount at the same time ensures that the tensile forces on the wood-based panel that arise during drying due to the applied layers cancel each other out.
  • the backing applied to the underside of the wood-based panel therefore corresponds exactly to the layer sequence applied to the upper side in terms of the layer structure and the respective layer thickness.
  • the primer and decor layer on the top does not develop any tensile forces that need to be balanced.
  • the upper resin layers and the lower resin layers may contain a 60% resin solution.
  • the wood-based panels to be finished and provided with the decoration are introduced into such a device.
  • the top and bottom of the wood-based panel are coated with a resin layer at the same time. This shortens the production time and thus reduces the manufacturing cost.
  • the drying devices provided after the double application devices, in which the wood-based panels that have just been coated are dried down to the desired residual moisture, for example by hot air, enable the first resin layer to be applied quickly and the crosslinking process of the resin layers applied is prevented at an early stage. Interim storage of the coated wood-based panels to dry the resin layers or turning the wood-based panels to coat the other side is no longer necessary.
  • each upper application device and each lower application device has a mixing container in which the resin to be applied can be mixed with the desired additives, it is possible to switch back and forth quickly between different product requirements, for example the desired abrasion class.
  • product requirements for example the desired abrasion class.
  • product properties such as surface smoothness, acid or abrasion resistance, can be adjusted quickly and easily.
  • highly reactive resin mixtures is also possible, since there is no longer any need for intermediate storage of the coated wood-based panels, but continuous processing. This also significantly shortens the cycle times of the short-cycle press, which in turn reduces production costs.
  • a device preferably has a storage battery with several storage containers, in which the resin to be applied and the additives can be stored separately from one another, and feed lines from the storage containers to the mixing containers. As a result, the resin and the additives can be fed separately from one another into the mixing container and only mixed there to form the desired resin layer to be applied.
  • the device can in particular have a controller which is set up to control the amount of the resin and the additives that are passed through the feed lines into the mixing container. This enables automatic adjustment of various product properties and order quantities or additives.
  • Each upper application device and each lower application device can be an application roller. This ensures a constant and finely adjustable layer thickness. In addition, the applied layers are applied very homogeneously and evenly in this way.
  • hose pumps can be provided. This increases the service life of the device by up to 20 times compared to the use of diaphragm pumps.
  • the hoses of the peristaltic pumps can be replaced quickly and easily using a quick-change system, which significantly reduces the maintenance and repair times of the device.
  • At least one hold-down device for the wood-based panel can preferably be arranged in front of each double application device. In this way, any deformations of the wood-based panel that may occur during production can be eliminated and the wood-based panel to be coated can be fed precisely and reproducibly to the respective double application device.
  • a pointed flap transport device in the form of pointed-flap transport chains is used, which are themselves robust and not susceptible to failure and ensure a high surface quality of the coated wood-based panel.
  • the pointed tabs can be cleaned automatically using cleaning brushes.
  • a wood-based panel is transferred from a double application device to the transport chain and vice versa by means of roller discs.
  • roller discs When entering a double application device or a drying device, the hold-down devices already described in the form of roller disks are also used.
  • a device for finishing a wood-based panel can have further double application devices with which the total layer thickness and the number and proportions of functional additives can be increased.
  • products can also be created that can be declared in higher usage classes.
  • more than three resin layers can also be applied to the top and bottom of the wood-based panel to be coated.
  • the carrier board is preferably an MDF, HDF or chipboard.
  • the thickness of the carrier plate preferably has a thickness between 4 mm and 12 mm, in particular a thickness of 5.8 mm.
  • the pressed skin has a thickness of about 0.2 mm.
  • the wettability of the surface of the mill-finished carrier plate is set in that an additive can be applied to the top of the wood-based material cake before pressing. This additive is then preferably applied immediately before the wood-based material cake enters the hot press (for example a Conti press).
  • the additive can be a surfactant or consist of surfactants and other components. In particular, it is in liquid form. In addition to surfactants, biocides, stabilizers and / or polymers can also be added to the additive. The proportion of surfactants is preferably greater than 90%. Practical tests have shown that a good effect is achieved if the additive is applied in an amount of 1 to 30 mg / m 2, evenly distributed, to the surface of the wood-based material cake.
  • a plurality of panels can be packed into a container.
