Die Erfindung betrifft eine Waschmaschine mit einem Laugenbehälter, einer drehbar in dem Laugenbehälter gelagerten Trommel (1) mit einem hohlzylindrischen Trommelmantel (2), zumindest einer an der Innenseite (21) des Trommelmantels (2) angeordneten Schöpfrippe (3) und einem kontaktlosen Temperatursensor (5), der in und/oder an der Schöpfrippe (3) angeordnet ist. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Waschmaschine und ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Waschmaschine. Heutige Waschmaschinen sollen resourcenschonend waschen. Dabei soll eine hohe Energieeffizienz bei guter Waschleistung erreicht werden. Dies ist durch Wassereinsparung in der Waschphase und in den Spülphasen eines Waschprogramms erreichbar. Die Wassereinsparung führt dazu, dass der Anteil an freier Flotte im Verhältnis zur gebundenen Flotte sinkt, wobei der Ausdruck "gebundene Flotte" an die Wäsche gebundene Waschflüssigkeit bezeichnet und der Ausdruck "freie Flotte" ungebundene Waschflüssigkeit bezeichnet, d.h. nicht an die Wäsche gebundene Waschflüssigkeit. Durch den gesunkenen Anteil an freier Flotte tritt in der Waschphase eine Heizungstaktung durch schnelleres Erreichen einer gewünschten Zieltemperatur der freien Flotte und als Folge eine verzögerte Erwärmung der gebundenen Flotte ein.
