At the out of the pockets projecting central webs 12 of the blocks 10 (see FIG. 6 ) are lower ribs 15 of the edge cover on (or are slightly spaced therefrom). Also at the pockets 8 and projecting webs 12 of the blocks 10 of the lid 2 are lower webs 16 and 17, when the lid are moved by the rolling traffic accordingly.

Claims (7)

  1. A pivoting cover for a shaft set into a roadway with a frame (1) and at least one, preferably two or four, pivotal cover plates (2) and with damping elements, characterised in that positioned between the frame (1) and the adjacent cover plate (2) or the adjacent cover plates (2) and, in the case of a plurality of cover plates (2), between the individual cover plates (2) there are pockets (8) with rubbery pads (10) which project laterally in the installed position, that the pockets (8) extend downwardly to a closed base and have an upwardly open cavity, which is T-shaped in horizontal section, the central web of which is open laterally and that the rubbery pads (10) have a corresponding T shape in horizontal section, the laterally projecting sections (13) of which are held in the pockets (8) and the central web (12) of which projects laterally out of the pockets (8).
  2. A pivoting cover as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the pads (8) are held by a force fit.
  3. A pivoting cover as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the pads (8) are secured in the pockets by adhesive.
  4. A pivoting cover as claimed in Claim 1, wherein two or four cover plates are provided, characterised in that the cover plates (2) overlap at their edges, a downwardly offset edge web (5) being formed in each case on one of the cover plates, on which an upper edge web (6) of the adjoining cover plate (2) rests.
  5. A pivoting cover as claimed in Claim 4, characterised in that at least one, preferably two, pockets (8) are formed in each case on the side of a cover plate (2) including the downwardly offset edge web (5).
  6. A pivoting cover as claimed in Claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the cover plate or cover plates (2) and the frame (1) consist of cast iron and that the pockets (8) are integrally moulded on.
  7. A pivoting cover as claimed in Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the cover plates (2) have a substantially triangular shape such that each pair of cover plates has the shape of a rectangle and that the cover plates (2) of each pair of cover plates are pivotally connected to opposing edges of the frame (1).
