Definitions

  • the present invention relates to secure structures, especially those intended to be introduced in secure documents.
  • “Secure document” means a means of payment, such as a bank note, a check or a restaurant ticket, an identity document, such as an identity card, a visa, a passport or a passport. driver's license, a lottery ticket, a ticket or a ticket to cultural or sporting events.
  • security elements applied on the surface or introduced in bulk or in windows in a secure article, including a document secure or other object, for example a label, packaging, especially for drugs, food, cosmetics, electronic parts or spare parts.
  • DE 10 2006 061905 discloses a security element with a transparent substrate, a plurality of interleaved coded images and a revelation frame superimposed on the encoded images.
  • the demand WO 02/17242 A1 describes the superposition, by folding a document, a hologram and a hidden information to reveal the hidden information.
  • Requirement JP 2009/102760 which discloses the preamble of claim 1, and its counterpart EP 1,903,144 seek to make the backside of a colored pattern invisible in a security paper incorporating a security thread ("Thread-inserted paper"). This is achieved by means of a security thread having a layer of metal disposed at the mark under the pattern of colored varnish. The reflection on the metal of the incident light and its diffusion within the paper make it possible to mask the layer of varnish located behind.
  • More and more security means thus use a revelation pattern arranged in a transparent window to authenticate a secure document, being superimposed on an element to be revealed.
  • This revelation pattern can be a frame, a network of points, lines or ordered geometric shapes or an encoded image. To increase the level of security, this pattern is metallized.
  • the superposition of the revelation motif and the hidden information can be done with the revelation motif located between the observer and the hidden information or with the hidden information located between the observer and the revelation motif.
  • the revelation pattern when metallized, has a high reflectivity, similar to that of a metallized solid surface. This greatly hinders the authentication of the complementary revealing element because the user is "dazzled" by the light reflected by the metallized revelation pattern.
  • the subject of the invention is, according to a first aspect of the invention, a security structure comprising a non-opaque support, preferably transparent, and carried by the medium, metal elements forming a revelation pattern, the thickness of the metal being sufficiently low to be non-opaque, a varnish overlapping at least partially metal elements and, preferably, in contact therewith.
  • the superposition of the varnish and the metal elements is preferably an exact superposition, which is for example obtained by playing with the varnish a role in obtaining the metal elements.
  • the superposition of the varnish and the metal elements may also not be exact, the varnish being for example in the form of a layer that protrudes out of the metal elements, or even a continuous layer that extends for example over any the surface of a face of the security structure.
  • non-opaque is considered an opacity of preferably less than 15%, preferably less than 5%, according to ISO 2471.
  • the invention makes it possible to significantly reduce the brightness of the revelation pattern, due to the lower optical density of the metal, while offsetting, thanks to the opacity provided by the varnish and / or the support, the least opacity of the metal.
  • the invention makes it possible to improve the visibility of an element to reveal associated with the revelation pattern, while maintaining a high level of security.
  • the varnish can cover the metal elements on the side opposite the support.
  • the varnish can be interposed between the metal elements and the support.
  • the varnish can be transparent but colorful.
  • the varnish may be non-transparent, preferably opaque.
  • the optical density of the metal of the metal elements is preferably less than or equal to 1.5, preferably less than or equal to 1.0.
  • the optical density is for example measured using a TBX-MC densitometer from the company TOBIAS ASSOCIATES, INC, the measurement being carried out according to the ISO 5/2 standard.
  • the varnish may comprise a first composition covering only part of the metal elements and a second composition, different from the first, in particular of color and / or opacity different from the first, covering only part of the metal elements, the first and second compositions being preferably applied without total overlap of each other, preferably without any overlap.
  • One of the compositions may be transparent.
  • An overlay first and second compositions can make it possible to reveal a third color.
  • At least one of the compositions may be applied so as to reproduce a pattern visible to the naked eye, especially in transmitted light.
  • the first and second compositions may be applied so as to show a predefined pattern with the third color, this predefined pattern being found for example elsewhere on the article equipped with the secured structure, this pattern being for example alphanumeric.
  • the security structure is to be superimposed on an element to be revealed or alternatively comprises at least one element to be revealed, for example in the form of nested images.
  • the security structure When the security structure is to be superimposed on the element to be revealed, the latter comprises, according to the invention, several nested images and a relative displacement of the security structure and the element to be revealed makes it possible to successively display the different images individually. .
  • the security structure comprises, of manufacture, the element to be revealed, the change in the direction of observation may make it possible to reveal the information.
  • the revelation pattern and the element to be revealed are preferably made on either side of a transparent support.
  • Another subject of the invention is a secure article, in particular a secure document, incorporating a security structure according to the invention, as defined above.
  • the article may include information arranged to be visible using the revelation pattern, including information in the form of an impression.
  • the revelation pattern and the item to be revealed may be folded over.
  • the folding of the secure document can be done along a median line of the document, preferably parallel to one side of the document, for example along a median line passing through the middle of the width or the length of the document.
  • the revelation pattern and the item to be revealed may be further superimposed by construction, in which case a folding of the article is not necessary.
  • the successive appearance of the information for example in the form of successive images from nested images, can be done by changing the angle of observation, as mentioned above.
  • the metal pattern elements are preferably made by demetallization, in particular by etching, of a layer of metal covering the support and covered by the varnish printing, the latter protecting the pattern elements vis-à-vis the chemical attack.
  • a solvent-soluble primer is applied to the support according to the negative of the pattern to be made before metallization, and the latter is then carried out. The chemical attack solubilizes the primer and the metal leaves the support at sites where the soluble primer is present.
  • the metal layer is preferably deposited by vacuum metallization.
  • the metal layer is deposited by printing.
  • the metal layer is a layer of copper, aluminum, metal oxide or mixtures thereof. It is preferably an aluminum layer.
  • the metal layer may comprise at least two elementary layers, in particular of different compositions, in particular chosen from copper, aluminum, metal oxides and their mixtures. According to this variant, different metallic effects are obtained depending on the observation face, which constitutes additional security.
  • the varnish can be deposited in the form of two impressions of different compositions.
  • Another subject of the invention is a method for authenticating or identifying a secure article according to the invention, in which the revelation motif is superimposed, if necessary, on an element to be revealed, and an indication is given as to the authenticity or the identity of the article in view of the result of the superposition.
  • the method of authentication or identification of the secure article according to the invention may include the observation of the structure, and one draws an indication when the authenticity or the identity of the article in view of the result of this observation.
  • the observation can reveal several successive images that create an animation effect, for example the movement of an animal or a character or object.
  • the revelation pattern can be observed in reflected and / or transmitted light and an indication of the authenticity or identity of the article can be made in view of the appearance observed respectively in reflected and / or transmitted light.
  • the invention to avoid the glare of the user by the reflected light, it also makes possible observation in reflected light. This has the effect of facilitating the authentication or identification of the security element according to the invention.
  • Varnish means a non-metallic coating.
  • the varnish may be a composition containing a volatile solvent which forms a film by drying or a varnish which crosslinks under the action of an energy radiation, such as UV or thermal radiation. This is in particular an aqueous varnish.
  • the varnish increases the opacity of the structure, at least for a portion of the revelation pattern.
  • the varnish is preferably colored, for example containing one or more pigments or dyes.
  • the varnish can define the outer surface of the revelation pattern.
  • the varnish is between the metal layer and the support.
