A very significant issue from the viewpoint of glue bonding of filter materials and wrapping materials is the spreading of the glue within the space between the glued surfaces and the penetration of the glue into the structure of both the paper wrapper and the filter material.
  • the amount of glue fed and the method of distribution of the glue i.e. how the glue path is to be lead on the surface of the wrapping material before being joined with the filter material, should be considered.
  • a difficult problem to be solved is the selection of the shape of the glue path and the amount of glue in the situation where the wrapping material used is very thin or perforated. If a segment to be wrapped is porous, the glue will soak partly into the segment and partly into the wrapping material; however, if the segment is smooth, the glue will soak into the wrapping material, but also penetrate outside. As a result, the elements on production machines which guide the multi-segment rod as well as the multi-segment rods formed by cutting the rod will be contaminated with the glue. The glue depositing on the elements of the machine has to be removed, which makes it necessary to stop the production machine.
  • the objective of the present invention is to develop such glue feeding method which ensures the reduction of contamination of elements of a production machine.
  • the object of the invention is a method of feeding glue by means of glue nozzles onto a paper wrapper for wrapping the segments of a continuous multi-segment filter rod on a tobacco industry machine for manufacturing multi-segment filter rods, whereas the multi-segment rods are formed by cutting the segments of the continuous multi-segment filter rod.

  • the object of the invention is also an apparatus for feeding glue by means of glue nozzles onto a paper wrapper for wrapping the segments of a continuous multi-segment filter rod on a tobacco industry machine for manufacturing multi-segment filter rods, whereas the multi-segment rods are formed by cutting the segments of the continuous multi-segment filter rod.
  • An apparatus is characterised by being provided with a set of at least two glue nozzles where the first glue nozzle is a swirl nozzle forming a glue path the track of which extends along the paper wrapper, whereas the second glue nozzle is a linear nozzle forming at least one broken line glue path along the paper wrapper, whereas the glue sections of the broken line glue path are placed at the anchorage points of at least one of the filter segments which are to be cut.
