Claims (15)

  1. Device (1) for mounting a road sign (3) on a supporting member (4) and comprising at least one mounting rail (2) having an overall C shape secured to the back of said sign (3), a flange (5) suitable for extending around the supporting member (4) and clamping elements for clamping said flange (5) on the mounting rail (2) in order to mount the sign (3) onto said supporting member (4), said mounting device (1) being characterised in that it comprises a protecting element (8, 38, 48, 58) at least partially inserted at each free end of said mounting rail (2).
  2. Mounting device (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that said protecting element (8) comprises:
    - a base (15) including a body (17) and a tab (22) arranged to be inserted into one of the ends of said mounting rail (2) until the body (17) abuts against said end,
    - a cover (16) suitable for being secured to said base (15) to at least partially mask said base (15).
  3. Mounting device (1) according to claim 2, characterised in that the body (17) has an overall half truncated cone shape and has a first non-plane semi-frusto-conical type side face (18), a second plane side face (19) joining the free edges of said first face (18), a front face (20) and a rear face (21), said front and rear faces (20, 21) having a general half-disk shape substantially parallel with one another and connected by the first and second side faces (18, 19).
  4. Mounting device (1) according to claim 3, characterised in that the front face (20) of the body (17) includes a countersink (29) comprising a semi-cylindrical side face (30) and a front face (31) in the shape of a half-disk.
  5. Mounting device (1) according to any of claims 3 or 4, characterised in that the tab (22) has a flattened parallelepipedic shape from the rectilinear edge of the rear face (21) of the body (17) and substantially extending perpendicularly to the second side face (19) and in that this tab (22) includes at the free end thereof two strips (23) each starting along one of the longitudinal edges of the front face (24) of the tab (22) and extending towards the front face (20) of the body (17) and towards the outside of said tab (22), such that the strips (23) and the tab (22) have a cross-section wherein the general shape is a flared U.
  6. Mounting device (1) according to claim 5, characterised in that the tab (22) includes a projection (25) from the front face (24) of the tab (22), extending towards the front face (20) of the body (17) and provided with an orifice (26) passing right through the tab (22) - projection (25) assembly, and at least one retaining abutment (27) arranged projecting from the front face (24) of the tab (22) between the two strips (23).
  7. Mounting device (1) according to any of claims 3 to 6, characterised in that the base (15) also comprises a hollow tube (28) from the tab (22) and extending towards the front face (20) of the body (17).
  8. Mounting device (1) according to claim 7, characterised in that said tube (28) is at least partially integrated into the body (17) and particularly in the second side face (19) thereof.
  9. Mounting device (1) according to any of claims 2 to 8, characterised in that the cover (16) includes a curved body (32) having a convex front face (33), a concave rear face (34) and a peripheral face (35) joining said front and rear faces (33, 34).
  10. Mounting device (1) according to claim 9, characterised in that the cover (17) includes a rod (36) from the rear face (34) of the body (32).
  11. Mounting device (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that said protecting element (38, 48, 58) is made of one-piece having a general T shape and includes:
    - a body (39, 49, 59) with an overall half truncated cone shape having a first non-plane overall semi-frusto-conical type side face (40, 50, 60), a second plane side face (41, 51, 61) joining the free edges of said first face (40, 50, 60), a front face (42, 52, 62) and a rear face (43, 53, 63), said front and rear faces (42, 52, 62; 43, 53, 63) having a general half-disk shape substantially parallel with one another and connected by the first and second side faces (40, 50, 60; 41, 51, 61) and,
    - a tab (44, 54, 64) having an overall quarter-cylinder shape extending perpendicularly from the centre of the second side face (41, 51, 61) of said body (39, 49, 59).
  12. Mounting device (1) according to claim 11, characterised in that said tab (44, 54) includes two strips (45, 55) each from one of the bottom edges of the tab (44, 54).
  13. Mounting device (1) according to claim 11, characterised in that said strips (45) each extend along one of the bottom edges of the tab (44) towards the front face (42) of the body (39) and towards the outside of said tab (44), such that the strips (45) and the rear of the tab (44) have a cross-section wherein the general shape is a flared U.
  14. Mounting device (1) according to claim 11, characterised in that said strips (55) each extend perpendicularly along one of the bottom edges of the tab (54).
  15. Mounting device (1) according to any of claims 5 to 14, characterised in that the rear face (21, 43, 53, 63) of the body (17, 39, 49, 59) is at least partially offset from the rear face of the tab (22, 44, 54, 64).
