    Claims (11)

    1. A contrast screen (1) for signalling lights, in particular for road signalling lights, comprising a plate (7) having a front face (11) with a contrast effect and a rear face (15), as well as an opening (9), by which said plate (7), after being mounted on a supporting member of the lights, such as a light casing (2), fits around the signalling lights (4, 5, 6) with its front face (11) turned in the same direction as said lights, characterized in that a rim (10) is formed in a protruding manner on at least one face of the plate (7), at least along the major part of the edge of the plate opening (9).
    2. The contrast screen according to claim 1, characterized in that said rim (10) is formed on the front face (11) of plate (7) and has at or in the vicinity of its free end a continuous or discontinuous retaining lip (12) directed towards the centre of the plate opening (9).
    3. The contrast screen according to claim 2, characterized in that the rim (10) extends along the entire length of the edge of opening (9) and its retaining lip (12) is continuous and runs all along its free end.
    4. The contrast screen according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that thin transversal stiffeners (13, 14) are linking opposite portions of the rim (10).
    5. The contrast screen according to claim 4, characterized in that said transversal stiffeners (13, 14) are small linking bars integrally formed with the rim (10).
    6. The contrast screen according to claim 4, characterized in that said transversal stiffeners are stretched sections of stainless steel wire.
    7. The contrast screen according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the plate (7) is provided with a stabilizing branch (16) along the periphery of its rear face (15).
    8. The contrast screen according to claim 7, characterized in that the stabilizing branch (16) is progressively curved rearwards from the periphery of the plate (7).
    9. The contrast screen according to claim 7, characterized in that the stabilizing branch (16) extends substantially at right angles relative to the rear face (15) of the plate (7).
    10. The contrast screen according to any of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that it is fabricated as a unit from a thermoformed or injected plastic material.
    11. A signalling light device, in particular for road signalling, of the type comprising a plurality of signalling lights (4 to 6) disposed one above the other in a light casing (2) secured to a ground support member, such as a post (3), and having a front face, through which said lights appear, as well as a contrast screen (1) fitted around the lights, characterized in that said contrast screen is a screen as defined in any of claims 1 to 10, the opening (9) of which has dimensions very slightly larger than the outer dimensions of the front portion of the light casing (2), wherein means are further provided for securing the contrast screen to the light casing.
