Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à : transférer le colis (8) de détail dans une direction (18) d'alimentation du transporteur (10) d'arrivage de marchandises à un convoyeur alimenteur (12) qui présente une surface de transfert portant le colis (8) de détail, le transporteur (10) d'arrivage de marchandises et la surface de transfert étant déplacés dans la direction (18) d'alimentation; à transférer le colis (8) de détail au transporteur (2), la surface de transfert et le colis (8) de détail posé sur ladite surface de transfert étant déplacés à une vitesse de transfert, ladite vitesse de transfert présentant une première composante vitesse (VGx) coïncidant avec la vitesse (vs) du transporteur et une deuxième composante vitesse dirigée perpendiculairement à la direction (6) de transport du transporteur (2).
