Description

  • The present invention relates to an opener for processing fibre in tufts on a carding preparation line.
  • As is known, to obtain a textile yarn from a fibre, multiple processing treatments of the fibre are required to free it of impurities and dirt, align the fibres and draw them. Such treatments produce a fibre web, subsequently processed, for example on a drawing machine, to obtain a yarn.
  • The treatments are performed on different machines, in that, to obtain best results, they need to be repeated a number of times in an increasingly thorough manner.
  • In particular, on an exemplary fibre processing line, the fibres are picked from bales by a picker, so as to obtain tufts transported by currents of air.
  • The fibre in tufts is subsequently processed in a device for removing impurities, such as stones or nonferrous materials mixed with the tufts, before passing to an opener, where the tufts undergo a first opening of the fibres and a first separation from the impurities.
  • Subsequently, the fibres undergo further cleaning, alignment and drawing operations in openers and carding machines to obtain the fibre web.
  • One embodiment is the opener B39N "Duocleaner" manufactured and marketed by the Applicant, illustrated in the brochure "Nova - Blowroom Machinery".
  • Further examples of embodiments are illustrated in the documents WO-Al-2009/084056 , WO-A1-2011/001379 and EP-A1-0818566 in the name of the Applicant.
  • In the specific sector, the need is felt however to improve the processing of fibre in tufts in the opener, and in particular to ensure a high quality level of the processing performed, that is to say a high level of opening and cleaning of the fibres, even in the presence of large quantities of fibre to be processed.
  • In particular, it has been observed how if large quantities of fibre are fed to the opener the outgoing fibre tufts still contain impurities and are very entangled, in an unsatisfactory condition for good results from the further processing downline. It has been observed, at the same time, that the outgoing tufts do not have homogeneous physical characteristics when large quantities are used.
  • Vice versa, it has been seen that smaller quantities of fibres in the openers gives better quality of the tufts processed, which also have homogeneous characteristics.
  • The purpose of the present invention is to make an opener for fibre in tufts on a carding preparation line able to satisfy the above requirements, and in particular to process large quantities of fibre while maintaining high quality and homogeneous characteristics of the processed tufts.
  • Such purpose is achieved by an opener made according to claim 1 and a method according to claim 16.
  • The characteristics and advantages of the opener according to the invention will be evident from the description below, made by way of a non-limiting example according to the attached figures, wherein:
    • figure 1 shows a schematic side view of an opener according to the invention;
    • figure 2 shows a cross section view of the opener in figure 1, along the section line II-II in figure 1;
    • figure 3 shows a cross section view of the opener in figure 1, along the section line III-III in figure 1;
    • figure 4 schematically shows two main rollers of the opener in figure 1 and the schematic path of the fibre flow;
    • figure 5 shows a ground view from above of figure 4; and
    • figure 6 shows a cover casing and roller of the opener in figure 1.
  • With reference to the appended drawings, reference numeral 1 globally denotes an assembly for processing fibres in tufts, constituting a section of a fibre processing line, and in particular a section of a carding preparation line.
  • The assembly 1 comprises a feed pipe 2 for the transport of the fibre F to be processed, for example coming from a picker.
  • The pipe 2, positioned at a predefined height from the ground plane T, extends along a substantially rectilinear feed axis A preferably parallel to the ground plane T.

In particular, the feed device 4 is suitable for deviating the fibre in a feed direction downstream V, for example vertical and perpendicular to the ground plane T (and therefore preferably, perpendicular to the feed axis A).
  • Preferably, the assembly 1 comprises a separator device 6, positioned downstream of the feed device 4, suitable for separating the fibre flow F coming out of the feed device 4 into a plurality of separate fibre flows, for example into two fibre flows (F1, F2).
  • For example, the separator device 6 comprises a separation pipe 8 which the fibre traverses, for example of a shape converging in the direction of advancement of the fibre, and a separator element 10 suitable for separating the fibre F into flows F1, F2.

  • The opener device 30 has a first compartment 31, for example single, and a first opener roller 32, housed in said first compartment; the first opener roller 32 is motorised and rotatable around a first transversal rotation axis X', that is orthogonal to the feed axis A and the vertical axis V.
  • Along said rotation axis X' , the first roller 32 extends between a first end 32' and a second end 32".
  • The separator device 6 is suitable for transversally separating the fibre flow F into flows F1, F2.
  • In addition, preferably, the separation wall 14 extends as far as to lap the outer surface of the first opener roller 32, dividing said roller into portions placed side by side along the rotation axis X' of the first opener roller, joined in rotation, separated, for example imaginarily, by an imaginary first separation line I'.
  • In particular, in the embodiment shown , the first opener roller 32 is divided into a first portion 32a and a second portion 32b alongside each other along the rotation axis X'.
  • The first roller 32 is provided with opening means distributed on its outer surface, suitable for entangling the tufts to open them when pulled.
  • In particular, the first portion 32a is fitted with a plurality of pegs 34a, projecting from the outer surface of the first portion 32a of the roller 32, in a rectilinear, broken or ramified direction to have multiple tips.
  • Preferably, the pegs 34a are positioned along an imaginary helical line traced on the outer surface of the roller, from the first separation line I' identified by the separation wall 14 towards the first transversal end 32', according to a first winding angle.

  • Preferably, the two winding angles are equal and opposite.
  • In other words, the helical lines are symmetrical in relation to the first separation line I'.
  • Preferably, in addition, the opener device 30 comprises at least one partition 40 (or a plurality of transversally separate partitions placed side by side) for each portion 32a, 32b of the first roller 32.
  • The partition 40 is fixed in relation to the rotation of the first roller 32 and encompasses at least partially the outer surface, preferably lapping it without interference.
  • For each portion 32a, 32b, the partitions 40 form centrifugal conduits 42 around the roller, from the centre towards the ends 32', 32", preferably having a helical direction, along the outer surface of the roller, at least partially encompassing it.
  • Preferably, said conduits are positioned on the upper half of the first roller.
  • During processing the fibre in tufts is therefore forced to move in the conduits, transversally from the centre towards the ends 32', 32" of the roller, dragged by the negative pressure air flow and by the pegs, which move in said conduits.
  • The opener device 30 also envisages a second compartment 51, beside the first compartment 31 along the feed axis A, and a second opener roller 52, housed in said second compartment; the second opener roller 52 is motorised and rotatable around a second transversal rotation axis X", that is orthogonal to the feed axis A and the vertical axis V, parallel to the first rotation axis X'.
