Definitions

  • the invention relates to a biting device for a toddler with a substantially arcuate, elastisch.verformbaren bite element having two spaced in an unloaded rest position spaced from each other free end portions, wherein the bite element is substantially annular to form a free gap between the end regions in the rest position ,
  • biting devices are available with which primarily teething is to be supported in infants.
  • the biting devices also have a calming effect on toddlers and serve to satisfy the natural urge to bite at this age.
  • the biting devices are designed to promote the perfusion of the gums and to accelerate the penetration of the teeth.
  • a biting device which has an arcuately curved part made of an elastic material. At the arcuate part are detachably mounted projections or indentations. The end portions of the arcuate portion are separated by a narrow gap.
  • this comparatively narrow gap can disadvantageously lead to respiratory problems in jaw congruent arrangement of the biting device.
  • Bow-shaped biting elements are further known from the prior art, whose shape is adapted to the substantially U-shaped arrangement of the teeth in the front region of the lower or upper jaw.
  • a U-shaped bite element with two substantially straight, parallel free end regions is for example from the US 2005/0080456 A1 known.
  • the bite element shown is in principle well suited to support the teething in the front region of the jaw;
  • the back molars are in this embodiment of the bite element with comparatively short, approximately parallel end portions stimulated only insufficient.
  • this bite element disadvantageously requires a shield connected to the bite element, in order to avoid endangering the toddler by penetrating the substantially rigid, straight end regions of the bite element into the throat or accidentally swallowing it.
  • teething rings of the type closed Tori are known from the prior art.
  • EP 1 158 949 B1 For example, a trained as a teething ring handle for a pacifier is described.
  • the posterior molars can be achieved only with difficulty, so that teething is not supported in this area.
  • the closed form requires a comparatively rigid, inflexible arrangement, which reduces the biting or chewing experience for the toddler.
  • the WO 2009/002535 A2 shows a pacifier with a shield, which has less than two air passage openings.
  • the shield may be formed by a central part with a button-shaped bearing part for a sucker and two arms outgoing on both sides, wherein at the free ends of the arms bite bodies are provided, which face each other to form a gap.
  • the aim of the present invention is in contrast to provide a biting device of the type mentioned, with which the teething is supported in many ways, in particular, the rear molars are stimulated, but at the same time a danger to a toddler is reliably prevented by too deep penetration of a biting element in the throat area or swallowing the bite element.
  • the arcuate bite element is essentially modeled on the jaw shape such that the end regions in the region of the molars in an inserted into the mouth, substantially congruent with the jaw state in the rest position of the bite element are arranged, wherein the free gap has an opening angle between 15 ° and 35 °, measured from the inner-wall vertex of the opening, and arcuate bite element is elastically deformable such that the two end portions are at least partially overlapping in a securing position can be arranged.
  • the two end portions of the bite element are spaced apart such that in an unloaded rest position - compared to known arcuate biting - small distance between the end regions is provided, since the arc shape is closed to known biting elements to get to the posterior molars.
  • the arcuate bite element seen from the apex of the arcuate bite element from a comparatively large extent having arcuate portions, so that - even if the arcuate bite element is inserted only on one side into the oral cavity, ie the cheek is received in the gap between the free ends of the bite - the molars can be achieved. In the case of such a one-sided insertion the risk of too deep insertion into the throat area is not given from the outset.
  • the posterior molars can also be reached here.
  • the arcuate bite element is pushed so deep into the throat area that the end areas reach behind the molars, lateral pressure on the free end areas is increasingly exerted due to the mouth cavity tapering backwards, whereby the elastically deformable end areas initially approach one another and finally be placed in the overlapping securing position before the end areas penetrate the throat and could endanger the toddler.
  • the overlapping end portions are tensioned in their securing position and tend to return to their original resting position when the lateral pressure on the end portions decreases.
  • a good stimulation of the entire jaw, in particular the posterior molars is achieved in that the arcuate biting element is substantially modeled on the jaw shape that the end regions in the molars in an inserted into the mouth, substantially congruent with the jaw state in the rest position of the bite element are arranged.
  • the pressure exerted by the cheeks increases toward the end portions, thereby displacing the elastically deformable end portions into their overlapped securing position.
  • substantially annular bite element In order to combine a very good stimulation of the posterior molars with a reliable transfer to the securing position, in the formation of a free gap between the end regions in the rest position substantially annular bite element is provided that the free gap has an opening angle between 15 ° and 35 ° , in particular of substantially 22 °, measured from the inside-walled vertex of the opening.
  • the bite element In order to facilitate teething and also to increase the haptic experience when chewing on the bite element even further, it is advantageous if on the bite element raised structural elements, in particular knobs or elongated projections, are formed.
  • the structural elements are preferably formed integrally with the surface of the bite element.
  • a high elastic deformability exhibiting bite element can be achieved when the biting element is a hollow body.
  • the hollow body made of a plastic, in particular polyolefins, thermoplastic elastomers, polyvinylidene chloride or silicone.
  • the hollow body is filled with a liquid, in particular gel.
  • the rigidity of the biting element can thus be adjusted accordingly by the degree of liquid filling.
  • a sanitary liquid is used.
  • water is provided as the liquid.
  • a biting device with different biting or playing elements is provided by the arcuate bite element is arranged together with at least two other elements on a central fixing part, wherein the longitudinal extension planes of the biting element and the two other elements in one of 180 Deviating angles are arranged to the longitudinal extension plane of the fastening part.
  • the attachment part may be a one-piece plastic part to which the individual elements are attached.
  • the connection of the elements with the plastic part is preferably insoluble; However, it would also be a detachable attachment conceivable.
  • the elements are arranged angled with respect to the fastening part, a space is formed below the fastening part or the associated elements when the biting device is placed on a flat surface; a user can thus intervene to cancel the biting device in this room, which is a considerable relief especially for infants.
  • a three-element design of the biting device comprising the bite element and two further elements enables a particularly stable support of the biting device on the flat surface.
  • the arcuate bite element according to the invention can also be connected on its own, with an arbitrary fastening part or any handle, or formed in one piece.
  • teething ring By providing a teething ring as a further element, a particularly varied biting device is conveniently provided.
  • raised structural elements are provided on the teething ring, which support teething.
  • the particular fully trained teething ring is preferably made of a plastic.
  • a play element in the manner of a rotatably mounted ball is provided as a further element.
  • the ball is mounted in a ring formed integrally with the fastening part. A stimulating to the toddler visual effect when turning the ball can be achieved when the ball is executed multi-colored.
  • the elements are grouped symmetrically around the connecting part. Accordingly, the three elements are preferably arranged offset by about 120 ° about a central axis of the fastening part.
  • the fastening part, the arcuate biting element and at least portions of the further elements are formed as a two- or multi-component injection molded part, a permanent connection between the fastening part and the arcuate biting element or at least portions of the further elements is ensured.
  • the fastening part and an annular receptacle for supporting a rotatable ball made of a harder material than the arcuate biting element and a teething ring exist.
  • a biting device 1 according to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in which a two free end portions 2 forming, arcuate bite element 3 and two further elements 4 are attached to a central fastening part 5.
  • the arcuate bite element 3 is in Fig. 1 shown in its unloaded rest position, in which the free end portions 2 are arranged spaced apart by a narrow gap 6 with a clear width of about 8 mm.
  • An opening angle ⁇ of the free gap 6 measured from the inside vertex of the bite element 3 is approximately 22 °.
  • the end regions 2 of the bite element 3 have a comparatively strong curvature, so that the approximately annular bite element 3 is particularly well suited to specifically stimulate the entire jaw, in particular the posterior molars.
  • the sections adjoining the free end regions 2 are arranged substantially in the region of the molars, so that reliable stimulation in this jaw region is ensured.
  • a lateral load in the direction of the arrow 2 'approaching the end regions 2 occurs in particular when the bite element 3 received in the mouth is pushed deeper into the throat area from its rest position adapted to support teething and the recurving oral cavity exerts increasing pressure on the free end regions 2.
  • the overlapping end regions 2 have a tension in the securing position, so that the end regions 2 are gradually pulled apart when the load is released, in particular when the bite element 3 is pushed forward in the mouth, and finally when it reaches the jaw substantially coincident Position in the mouth again in the rest position with separated by the narrow gap 6 end regions 2 are present.
  • the biting element 3 consists of a hollow body 7 filled with a liquid, which is preferably made of plastic, in particular polyolefins, thermoplastic elastomers, polyvinylidene chloride or silicone is.
  • a health-safe liquid especially water, is used.
  • the rigidity of the biting element 3 depends primarily on the plastic material used for the hollow body 7 or on the liquid level in the hollow body 7.
  • the bite element 3 formed by a hollow body 7 filled with a liquid is elastically deformable such that an approximation or displacement of the free end regions 2 from its rest position already at a comparatively low lateral load whose direction in the Fig. 2 to 4 is illustrated with arrows.
  • Fig. 3 As in particular from the side view according to Fig. 3 can be seen, 3 structural elements in the manner of dome-shaped protrusions or nubs 8 are provided on the surface of the bite element, with which the teething is facilitated and the biting experience for the toddler is increased.
  • the structural elements are formed in one piece with the hollow body 7 or the bite element 3.
  • the fastening part 5 made of a plastic has (not shown in the figures) lateral slots or receiving elements in which corresponding fastening elements of the elements 4 are permanently attached; However, it would also be possible here to provide a detachable connection, for example a plug-in or snap connection.
  • the biting element 3 and the other elements 4 are arranged regularly, each offset by about 120 ° about an axis of symmetry of the fastener 5, whereby a particularly stable support on a flat surface, such as a table, is possible.
  • the longitudinal extension planes 15 of the bite element 3 and the other two elements 4 are arranged at an angle between 130 ° and 170 ° to a longitudinal extension plane 16 of the fastening part 5.
  • a space 9 is formed below the attachment part 5 or below the bite element 3 and the other elements 4, whereby an intervention of the user or a cancellation of the parked on the flat surface biting device 1 is greatly facilitated, especially for small children.
  • a toroidal teething ring 10 and a game element 11 in the manner of a rotatably mounted ball 12 is connected to the central fastening part 5.
  • the teething ring 10 is fully formed and preferably stiffer than the arcuate bite element 3, to allow a variety of teething support.
  • the ball 12 of the game element 11 is rotatably mounted in an integrally formed with the connecting part 5 annular receptacle 14.
  • the ball 12 has two different-colored surface textures, results in a turning of the ball 12 is interesting for the toddler color mixing.
  • the game element 11 serves primarily to promote the interest of the toddler for the biting device 1.
