Safety device for recovering hazardous products that may leak from electric transformers used in electrical distribution networks, the said device having a so-called safety cover (15) to prevent the said products from catching fire and/or to extinguish the burning products as they leak, wherein it consists of at least two sealed trays (1) of a substantially parallelepipedic shape including a horizontal (2) back wall, two vertical transversal walls (3) and two vertical longitudinal walls (4), the transversal walls (3) of each tray (1) projecting beyond the longitudinal walls (4) to form at each side of the tray (1) fixing wings (5), each fixing wing (5) having a plurality of holes (6) capable of receiving bolts (7) and nuts (8), the upper edge of one of the transversal walls (3) of each tray (1) having a U-shaped profile (9) the concavity of which faces downward, the said U-shaped profile (9) covering the upper edge of the transversal wall (3) of the adjacent tray (1) to ensure sealing of the connection between the said trays (1) is sealed and wherein each tray (1) has along its longitudinal walls (4), close to its bottom (2), at least two holes (11) capable of receiving a bent pipe (12) to connect two adjacent trays (1), at least one tray (1) having means to support (10) the transformer made up of two metal girders (10) extending transversally at the upper end of the said tray or trays (1), the spacing of which is equal to the spacing of the transformer's feet, the width of each girder being greater than the width of each foot of the said electric transformer.
  2. Device according to claim 1 wherein each tray (1) has a so-called overflow pipe (13) extending from the bottom of the tray (1) and opening out along at least one of its longitudinal walls (4), close to its upper edge.
  3. Device according to any one of claims 1 or 2 wherein each tray (1) has a safety cover (15) at its upper end covering the said tray (1) and made up of transversal lamellae (16).
  4. Device according to claim 3 wherein the safety cover (15) has multi-sloped lamellae (16) keeping a space between them enabling the flowing products access to the tray while preventing an oxygen supply sufficient enough to cause the products to ignite.
