Definitions
- the present invention relates to a safety device for hand wheels on gas cylinders according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a safety device is known from GB 403 775 A known.
- Jump pad such as off EP 0 317 904 B1 known to be used as rescue equipment by the fire brigade to rescue people from burning buildings or to protect people at risk of falling.
- a single jump pad consists of an inflatable tube scaffold, which is covered by tarpaulins and inflated by a connected compressed air cylinder in seconds. While the upper horizontal tarpaulin serves as a platform for jumping people, the side tarpaulins, which have multiple openings, prevent the air from escaping too quickly inside the jump pad.
- the public fire brigades in Germany mainly use jump cushions with dimensions of 3.5m by 3.5m by 1.7m, which allow jumps of up to 16m. The jump cushions are normally filled by a 300 bar filling pressure, 6 liters compressed air cylinder.
- Jump posters are folded when not needed, permanently connected to the compressed air cylinder, stored in the fire truck fire engines. Therefore, it is imperative that the valve of the bottle does not accidentally open and thereby unfolds the jump pad in the fire truck, which on the one hand to a blockage and on the other hand to damage the vehicle, other stored in the vehicle equipment and above all to a considerable risk for persons in near the jump pad. To avoid this, it is advisable to protect the valves and handwheel with safety devices. However, it has happened in the past that, despite the existing safety device jump cushions unfolded inside the fire truck and thus caused considerable damage.
- Conventional safety devices for gas cylinders are usually protective caps, which enclose the valve, including the handwheel, with their cavities and are connected by turning or snap-in closures with the bottles.
- These protective caps are unsuitable for use on jump cushions, however, since when using the jump pad, first remove the cap and then the connection hose between the compressed air cylinder and jump pad must be mounted on the valve, which would mean too high a tent in case of emergency. Therefore, protection caps are used for attaching jump cushions currently having recesses for the connecting hose between the compressed air cylinder and jump pad. These plastic molded caps are only frictionally slipped over the handwheel and valve.
- this protective cap is not rotationally fixed about the vertical axis of the bottle, which is usually identical to or at least parallel to the axis of rotation of the handwheel is attached. As a result, it has happened in the past that the cap has been rotated by shocks and elastically deformed so that it came into contact with the handwheel. These contacts caused inadvertent opening of the valve in several cases, inflating the jump pad inside the fire truck.
- the safety device has a fastening part which serves to fasten the safety device to the bottle.
- the attachment is designed to prevent relative rotation between the bottle and the safety device.
- the upper part which is connected by means of a pivotal connection with the fastening point, is dimensioned so that it offers sufficient coverage in the first state in which it engages over the handwheel, various handwheel variants and thereby prevents inadvertent opening of the valve by external influences.
- This first state is locked by a locking device that can be actively and rapidly removed by an operator before the top can be pivoted to a second state. In this second state, the handwheel is not overlapped by the upper part, so that operation of the handwheel is possible.
- the pivotal connection is realized by means of two opposite with respect to a bottle axis storage facilities, each consisting of a bearing part with a head and a bolt, a bearing opening in the upper part and a bolt bearing in the fastening part, wherein the bolts pushed against each other on a common pivot axis through the respective bearing opening and undetachably connected to the respective pin bearing.
- This non-detachable connection prevents the bolt, for example, by vibrations, from the pin bearing and thereby the upper part of the fastening part triggers, whereby a protection of the handwheel would no longer be guaranteed.
- the upper part does not touch the handwheel, which prevents the handwheel from being opened unintentionally by small deformations and torsions of the upper part.
- the fastening part consists of at least two parts which are assembled on a bottle neck and frictionally enclose this bottleneck.
- the locking device has a plug connection, consisting of a passage in the attachment, a bore in the upper part, which in the first state has a common locking axis with the passage, and a fixing device which is captive with the upper part or Fastening part is connected.
- the upper part has on at least one narrow side of an edge protection, for example, made of rubber, whereby injury to the operator and damage to the jump pad can be prevented.
- the attachment part has an adapter adapted to the diameter of the neck of the bottle, which allows the safety device to be used on different types of compressed air bottles having different neck diameters.
- the upper part is in one piece and has a second bore with the same position to the bearing opening, as the bore to the bearing opening.
- An advantageous construction of the upper part is achieved, for example, by a preceding sheet metal blank made of stainless steel, followed by the intended holes or punched holes and a U-shaped deformation of the cut sheet metal. Such a shell prevents possible incorrect assembly.
- the fixing device has a ball lock pin, which allows a speedy unlocking of the locking device.
- FIG. 1 shows a compressed air cylinder 20 having a valve 22 with a hand wheel 24, which is protected by a safety device against accidental operation.
- This safety device consists mainly of a fastening part 26, a top 28 and a locking device 30.
- the upper part 28 engages over the handwheel 24, whereby an unintentional rotation of the handwheel is prevented.
- the fastening part 26 is frictionally mounted to the bottle neck 21 of the compressed air cylinder 20 such that a rotational movement about a bottle axis 32 is excluded.
- a locking device 30 prevents the upper part 28 from pivoting from the first state to a second state.
- FIG. 2 shows the compressed air cylinder 20 with safety device, wherein the upper part 28 is now in a second state, which does not hinder operation of the handwheel 24.
- the second state is achieved by unlocking the locking device 30 with subsequent pivotal movement of the upper part 28.
- the necessary pivotal connection consists of two lying on a pivot axis 34 storage facilities, which are opposite to each other with respect to the bottle axis 32.
- These bearing devices each have a bearing part not shown in the figures, a bearing opening 36a and 36b in the upper part 28 and a pin bearing 38a and 38b in the fastening part 26. The bearing part is pushed through the bearing opening 36a, 36b and inextricably connected to the respective pin bearing 38a, 38b.
- the pin bearing 38a, 38b has a thread and the bearing part is realized by an associated screw.
- a non-detachable connection between the pin bearing 38a, 38b and screw can be done for example by an additional adhesive bond.
- the locking device 30 can preferably be realized in the form of a plug connection. This has a passage 40 in a nose 42 in the fastening part 26, a bore 44 in the upper part and a fixing part 46, preferably consisting of a locking pin 48 and an operating device 50, on.
- the locking pin 48 is inserted in the first, locked state through the bore 44 and the passage 40 and connects this form-fitting manner by a locking device 52, such as ball locks in a ball lock pin.
- the operating device 50 serves as a point of attack for the operator and thereby allows a rapid removal of the fixing part 46 in order to change to the second, unlocked state. This second state does not hinder a desired operation of the hand wheel 24, whereby a rapid deployment of the jump pad is ensured.
- a connecting part 54 preferably a cable or a chain.
- FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of a possible realization of the fixing part 46 in the form of a ball locking pin and a perspective view of the upper part 28, which is preferably formed from one piece.
- This top 28 shows no sharp corners, edges and narrow sides that could damage the jump pad.
- the upper part 28 on at least two sections, or over the entire length of its outer narrow side an edge protection 56, which preferably consists of rubber.
- the upper part 28 on both sides of the bore 44. This creates an axis of symmetry at the uppermost point of the upper part.
- Such a symmetrical upper part has the advantage that a faulty mounting of the safety device is precluded, in particular when the upper part has a second axis of symmetry which extends orthogonally to the first axis of symmetry through the centers of the bores 44 and the bearing opening 36a, 36b.
- FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of a possible attachment part 26.
- this consists of two parts 58 and 60, which are frictionally flanged over two screw 62a and 62b around the bottleneck.
- the nose 42 is integrated vertically, which includes the passage 40 for the fixing part 46.
- the fixing member 46 is a ball lock pin which is widely used for quick fixing, joining and securing of parts or workpieces is used.
- By pressing the spring-loaded bolt 48 at least two balls 52 are released and locked again when released.
- the fastening part 26 shown are the rounded corners, which reduce the risk of damage to the jump pad in the packaged state.
- the attachment part can be designed so that the safety device can be mounted on compressed air cylinders with different bottleneck diameters by simple adaptation by means of adapters.
- the vertical nose of the locking device could also be designed horizontally.
- clamping and / or plug connections could be used.
- a fastening part which is dimensioned as an attachment element for the valve thread, so that it is after assembly between the bottle body 23 and cylinder valve 22.
- the individual parts 58 and 60 of the fastening part 26 are designed to be identical, whereby the fabrication of the parts is substantially facilitated. Furthermore, it is likely that this can reduce manufacturing costs.
- the part 60 would also have a nose like part 58.
- Alternative locking devices could include, for example, terminals, spring plugs, and / or bolts with spring plugs.

Conventional safety devices for gas cylinders are usually protective caps, which enclose the valve, including the handwheel, with their cavities and are connected by turning or snap-in closures with the bottles. Here is where the invention, she has made it his mission to further develop the safety device for gas bottles of the type mentioned that it is better suited for compressed air bottles connected to a jump pad, so that on the one hand a permanent assembly of the connecting tube and a swift Use of the jump pad can be ensured, on the other hand, however, accidental opening of the valve in the packaged state can be excluded.
This object is achieved by the features of claim 1.
According to the invention, the safety device has a fastening part which serves to fasten the safety device to the bottle. The attachment is designed to prevent relative rotation between the bottle and the safety device. The upper part, which is connected by means of a pivotal connection with the fastening point, is dimensioned so that it offers sufficient coverage in the first state in which it engages over the handwheel, various handwheel variants and thereby prevents inadvertent opening of the valve by external influences. This first state is locked by a locking device that can be actively and rapidly removed by an operator before the top can be pivoted to a second state. In this second state, the handwheel is not overlapped by the upper part, so that operation of the handwheel is possible.
Preferably, the pivotal connection is realized by means of two opposite with respect to a bottle axis storage facilities, each consisting of a bearing part with a head and a bolt, a bearing opening in the upper part and a bolt bearing in the fastening part, wherein the bolts pushed against each other on a common pivot axis through the respective bearing opening and undetachably connected to the respective pin bearing. This non-detachable connection prevents the bolt, for example, by vibrations, from the pin bearing and thereby the upper part of the fastening part triggers, whereby a protection of the handwheel would no longer be guaranteed. Preferably, the upper part does not touch the handwheel, which prevents the handwheel from being opened unintentionally by small deformations and torsions of the upper part.
Preferably, the fastening part consists of at least two parts which are assembled on a bottle neck and frictionally enclose this bottleneck. This arrangement allows for easy installation and prevents relative rotational movement between the compressed air cylinder and safety device. The locking device has a plug connection, consisting of a passage in the attachment, a bore in the upper part, which in the first state has a common locking axis with the passage, and a fixing device which is captive with the upper part or Fastening part is connected. Preferably, edges and / or the narrow sides of the upper part, the fastening part and / or the Arretiervorrlchtung defused. The upper part has on at least one narrow side of an edge protection, for example, made of rubber, whereby injury to the operator and damage to the jump pad can be prevented. Optionally, the attachment part has an adapter adapted to the diameter of the neck of the bottle, which allows the safety device to be used on different types of compressed air bottles having different neck diameters. Preferably, the upper part is in one piece and has a second bore with the same position to the bearing opening, as the bore to the bearing opening. An advantageous construction of the upper part is achieved, for example, by a preceding sheet metal blank made of stainless steel, followed by the intended holes or punched holes and a U-shaped deformation of the cut sheet metal. Such a shell prevents possible incorrect assembly. The fixing device has a ball lock pin, which allows a speedy unlocking of the locking device.

All components of the device according to the present invention which are not essential to the invention have not been shown in the drawings for the sake of simplicity.
Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above. For example, the attachment part can be designed so that the safety device can be mounted on compressed air cylinders with different bottleneck diameters by simple adaptation by means of adapters. Furthermore, the vertical nose of the locking device could also be designed horizontally. Instead of the screw of the
Alternative locking devices could include, for example, terminals, spring plugs, and / or bolts with spring plugs.
