Description

The invention relates to a protective cap for compressed gas containers, which is composed of two interconnected at a parting line, an inner cavity for receiving a sampling valve enclosing partial shells, and a fixing portion for attachment to a compressed gas container or the extraction valve, a head portion and between the attachment portion and the head portion extending side parts, as well as, for example, from the DE-A-10 057 471 is known.

The most sensitive part of pressurized gas containers, which are to be understood below in particular compressed gas cylinders, gas cartridges or pressure cans, is the removal valve, which is used for gas removal and for filling the gas cylinder. The term "removal valve" here the cylinder valve including all optionally integrated therein fittings, such as pressure reducers, metering and needle valves, or similar. Understood. In order to protect the sampling valve from damage in the case of falls or as a result of improper handling, safety devices in the form of protective hoods or caps are used. The attachment of this safety device takes place either on the compressed gas cylinder itself, in particular on an existing thread, or on a corresponding attachment portion of the sampling valve and can in this case also attached to the sampling valve to the compressed gas cylinder and removed from it. For such protective devices, in addition, an attractive appearance and an easy and safe handling are desired, especially in the medical field of application.

For example, describes the EP 0 629 812 A1 a plastic cap for gas cylinders with a lower part for attachment to the gas cylinder and an upper part for protecting the valve, wherein the lower part comprises a lateral projection with a curvature as a suspension device. However, this known protective device has the disadvantage that it can not be attached to the compressed gas cylinder without first remove the removal valve from the compressed gas tank.

A protective device that can be easily attached to the compressed gas tank and removed without the need for the removal valve must be removed, is from the EP 0 939 875 A1 known. There, a cap for compressed gas cylinders is described, which consists of two interconnected subshells, which are connected for example by screwing. The partial shells enclose an inner cavity for receiving the extraction valve and have at least one lateral recess and a recess on the head side. The recesses are dimensioned so that even with attached protective cap, the operation of all functions of the extraction valve and the attachment of connections is ensured without problems. The protective cap is attached by screw thread to the compressed gas cylinder. Their construction of two partial shells makes it possible to mount the protective cap on the compressed gas cylinder even with the removal valve already installed and / or connections fastened to it. The protective cap can be adapted to compressed gas containers of different size and type, for example to compressed gas cylinders with 2, 5, 10 or 20 liters volume. This known protective cap has proven itself, but is still capable of improvement in terms of manufacturing costs and mechanical strength.

The object of the present invention is therefore to develop a protective cap for pressurized gas containers, which overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art.

This object is achieved with a protective cap of the type mentioned above in that a plurality of extending between the fastening portion and the head portion reinforcing struts are provided in the side parts, wherein longitudinally through two opposing reinforcing struts the dividing line of the two partial shells.

The reinforcing struts are sections of the protective cap which are attached by profiling, thickening, reinforcement or otherwise, whose task is, in particular, to improve the mechanical strength and thus the protective function of the protective cap. By dividing the dividing line longitudinally through two extending opposite reinforcing struts, so the sub-shells are connected to each other in the installed state of the reinforcing struts, there is a large contact surface between the sub-shells, which improves the overall mechanical rigidity of the cap substantially.

An advantageous development of the invention provides that arranged on the dividing line reinforcing struts are each made up of two, each having a partial shell associated semi-hollow profiles are constructed with a substantially U- or V-shaped cross-section, the leg edges facing each other. The two semi-hollow profiles thus fit together in the installed state to form a hollow profile with high mechanical strength, but low weight.

Preferably, the reinforcing struts are tapered towards the head portion. Such a configuration facilitates storage, in particular the stacking of the protective caps.

In order to easily ensure the operation of all possible functions of the removal valve even with attached protective cap, the side parts of the partial shells are preferably each equipped with at least one recess. The same purpose serves a recess on the head side of the head section. Furthermore, the recesses lead to a reduced overall weight and to the saving of material during the production of the protective caps. The protective cap preferably contains two lateral recesses, which are preferably of the same or similar size and arranged opposite one another. Instead of two lateral recesses, the protective cap can also have four lateral recesses, which are advantageously arranged symmetrically to each other. The size of the recess in the head area at the top of the protective cap is preferably designed so that the handwheel of a removal valve can be actuated even when the protective cap is attached. Optionally, parts of the extraction valve may protrude from the recesses in the side parts and / or in the head area.

To improve the resistance to impact, the head section is expediently provided with at least one ring around the head section equipped with circumferential reinforcing rib.

Expediently, means for fastening a suspension device and / or a carrying device are provided on at least one partial shell. As such means, for example, a recess into which a hook or a pin can engage, threaded holes, webs or nubs into consideration. The carrying device consists for example of one or more handles. The handle may be a headband, a handle bar, a handle plate or a recessed grip. The handle is preferably integrated in the protective cap and is preferably movable, in particular hinged or pivotable, arranged. The handle can be folded out, for example, by a hinge in the head area from bottom to top. The handle may also be formed in the head area as a laterally herausschwenkbares part. The handle may also be designed as a displaceable part, for. B. as a pull-out handle in the direction of the protective cap longitudinal axis or perpendicular thereto. The movable carrying device is advantageously designed lockable. The suspension device may for example be a hook or a hook-shaped part. The suspension device is preferably movable, in particular hinged. The suspension can be constructed analogously to the support device, it can also be locked.

Preferably, the partial shells are made of plastic or metal. The protective cap, or a part of the protective cap, preferably consists of a thermoplastic material, for. As polyoxymethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, PVC, polyester, polyamide, liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). The thermoplastic can also be a blend. The thermoplastics are advantageously fiber-reinforced (eg glass fiber, mineral fiber, carbon fiber). A suitable plastic is e.g. Polyamide with 30 weight percent glass fiber. The plastic can be foamed. The cap or parts of the cap may preferably be made by conventional thermal plastic processing techniques such as extrusion or injection molding.

A likewise advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the partial shells are constructed symmetrically to each other. Especially at the Production of the two partial shells by injection molding, it is thereby possible to produce them in a common injection mold, which saves considerable costs in the production.

The attachment section is preferably equipped with attachment elements which serve for attachment to a removal valve - if the removal valve has a suitable attachment section - or to the pressure vessel. The fasteners include, for example, a thread, a bayonet, clamp or snap, or they are formed by protruding formations such as grooves or teeth, which engage in a corresponding thread or corresponding elements on the attachment portion of the extraction valve or in the external thread on the bottle neck of a gas cylinder. Optionally, an additional adapter piece which is placed on the bottle thread, be necessary. Even with a fastening of the protective cap with a thread-like fastening device, an adapter piece for compressed gas cylinder may be advantageous, for. B. in the attachment of the cap to a compressed gas cylinder with a smaller bottle thread. The fastening device may also include a strap or strap. The tension band is guided, for example, around the bottom of the compressed gas cylinder and is detachably fastened to the protective cap. As a fastening device and eyelets, straps or tabs may be on the protective cap, wherein the removal valve or the compressed gas container corresponding counterparts are arranged for attachment. Another example of a fastening device is a fork which is mounted on the protective cap and engages the extraction valve.

Preferably, the partial shells are fixed at least in the region of the head section and the fastening section, but are releasably connected to one another, for example by a screw connection.

In further embodiments, the cap is equipped with a twist and / or with a roll backup. The rotation of the cap serves to fix the cap on the cylinder so that the cap can not be rotated relative to the cylinder. The anti-twist device For example, a rectangular recess in the interior of the cap for receiving a square often present on the sampling valve. The roll retainer is one or more protrusions on the protective cap which protrude above the gas bottle and prevent rolling of the horizontal bottle. The roll backup is advantageous in the attachment portion of the cap, that is attached to the pressure gas cylinder closest to the part of the cap. By way of example, the rolling safety device is an angular bead, one or more projections, webs or pins, an overall angular base surface or a polygonal profile in the base region, which extends beyond the outer circumference of the compressed gas container.

The protective cap 1 shown in the drawings for compressed gas tank is constructed of symmetrically arranged part shells 2, 3, which are connected to one another at a parting line 4. Both partial shells 2,3 are made of injection molding. The exact same structure of both partial shells makes it possible to use the same injection mold for both partial shells 2,3. The partial shells 2, 3 enclose an inner cavity 5, which is intended to receive a removal valve (not shown here). In the assembled state, the protective cap 1 has a fastening section 6 for fastening to a compressed gas container, not shown here, or to a removal valve mounted thereon. For this purpose, the attachment portion 6 is equipped with corresponding fastening elements, for example a screw thread 7, which can interact with a corresponding screw thread on the compressed gas container or on the removal valve. The base of the mounting portion 6 protrudes in the installed state beyond the pressurized gas container and is as roll protection octagonal in the embodiment, but it may also be round, elliptical, square or polygonal.

On the mounting portion 6 opposite side of the protective cap 1, an annular head portion 9 is arranged. The attachment portion 6 and the head portion 9 are connected to each other by side parts 11. The side parts 11 have recesses 12 through which the operation of the removal valve is possible even with attached protective cap. The protective cap 1 may further comprise, in a manner not shown here, on the attachment section 6 or on the head section 9 as an additional shock-proof all-round beads or ribs. The partial shells 2, 3 have in the fastening section 6 and in the head section 9 in the region of the dividing line 4 bores 8, on which the partial shells 2, 3, for example by means of screw connections or combined screw / plug connections, are firmly but detachably connected to one another. For mounting the protective cap 1, the partial shells 2.3 are brought in from both sides and fastened together; an already mounted removal valve or already installed ports usually need not be removed before. Further holes 10 are used to attach a handle or a carrying device.

The subshells 2, 3 are equipped with reinforcing struts 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b, 16a, 16b integrated in the side parts 11, by means of which the mechanical strength of the protective cap is increased. In the exemplary embodiment, each of the partial shells has three reinforcing struts (partial shell 2: reinforcing struts 14a, 15a, 16a, partial shell 3: reinforcing strut 14b, 15b, 16b). The partial struts formed as half-hollow profiles 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b, 16a, 16b have a substantially triangular cross-section and taper in the direction of the head section 9 of the protective cap 1. It is essential for the invention that the leg edge surfaces 18, 19 of FIG Reinforcement struts 15a, 16a and 15b, 16b run exactly at the parting line 4 of the two partial shells, so that in the assembled state of the protective cap 1, the reinforcing struts 15a, 15b and 16a, 16b are each pressed together with their leg edge surfaces 18, 19 and in this way one each form common reinforcing strut. Thereby exists between the Part shells 2.3 a large contact surface, whereby the protective cap 1 receives a particularly high mechanical rigidity.

In principle, the cap should be at least partially rotationally symmetrical and have a diameter that does not differ significantly from the diameter of the gas container (ie, for example, a compressed gas cylinder, a pressure cell or a gas cartridge). For example, the diameter of the protective cap is in the range of container diameter or up to 10 percent above. It is favorable if the protective cap is flush with the gas container and protrudes laterally beyond the entire or in part only for rolling protection. The size of the protective cap can vary; the minimum size of the protective cap 1 usually results from the fact that inside the cavity 5 the removal valve provided for the respective application can be wholly or partially received, optionally including integrated fittings such as pressure reducer, metering valve and the like, but the protective cap can only be used for Covering a portion of the sampling valve may be provided. The protective cap 1 is suitable for compressed gas containers, in particular compressed gas cylinders, gas cartridges or pressure containers of different sizes, for example with 2, 5, 10, 20 or 50 liters of volume.
