Description

The invention relates to a knitted fabric with a basic knitted fabric, in which a basic thread is processed and which in itself can have any pattern and / or construction corresponding to the respective application.

In nursing homes, especially in geriatric care, bedridden patients often experience the problem that caregivers only notice after hours if a patient has had their bed wet. Since this often happens while asleep, the affected people notice it only after hours. As a consequence, these patients spend hours in a damp or even wet bed. This greatly increases the problem of bedsores. In addition to the additional discomfort to the patients resulting from this, the additional expenses for these patients cause high healthcare costs.

If it were possible to immediately report wetting to the nursing staff, these patients could be treated immediately. Patients would not spend hours in damp or wet beds and would not be able to get away so quickly.

Basically similar problems can also occur in heavy sweat formation in garments, such as knitted pullovers and the like or knitted underwear. Again, in certain disease states, there may be a need to report sweats and the like directly to a ward so that appropriate precautions can be taken. Even in infants who are supplied in their cots with documents or blankets that are occasionally drenched, a similar problem occurs.

There are textile moisture metering devices, which consist of woven fabric, are interwoven in the electrically conductive and electrically poorly conductive threads so that are between electrically conductive threads each not electrically conductive threads. Since the electrical resistance changes under the influence of moisture, the occurrence of moisture in the tissue can be determined by monitoring the electrical conductivity in the knitted fabric between the electrically conductive threads.

A fabric has intersecting weft and warp thread systems, the threads of which are not only firmly interlocked with one another at the binding points, but are also easily accessible from the fabric edge for connection purposes of electrical lines. However, there are applications, especially in undergarments in which fabric is inconvenient or disadvantageous to a knitted fabric. For a knitwear, i. a knitted fabric, the stitches formed by the respective thread are hooked to each other at their mesh loops and therefore variable under stress both in size and against each other. Findings and experience in woven goods can therefore not be readily transferred to a knitted fabric.

The object of the invention is to remedy the problem described above even in a knitted fabric and in particular also in garments and the like, which contain a knitted fabric or are made of this in whole or in part.

To solve this problem, the knitted fabric according to the invention has the features of claim 1.

The knitted fabric is processed with a, as already mentioned, any basic knit, which contains at least one thread made of a material that changes its electrical resistance under the action of moisture. It is provided with an incorporated moisture sensor having at least two spaced apart, electrically conductive electrodes between which rows of stitches or rods of the basic knit and each containing at least one electrically conductive thread that is entangled with the basic knit and each with externally accessible electrical connection means is in electrical connection.

An electrode may have at least one part extending in the wale direction and / or the course direction of the base knit, in which at least one electrically conductive thread is knitted in stitches. In a preferred embodiment, the arrangement may be such that at least two electrodes are formed in a comb-like manner with a first part extending in the wale direction and outgoing therefrom in the course of stitches, the two electrodes being arranged with their second parts intermeshing.

The weft-extending part of an electrode can be formed, at least in regions, from meshes in each of which an electrically conductive thread is knitted and which communicate with one another. Through the mesh of the one or more wales, which form this electrode part - which may also be the whole electrode - are the electric conductive threads through the mesh structure of the fabric both mechanically anchored and held in solid mutual electrical contact, so that there is a continuous electrical contact path. In each case, individual thread pieces of an electrically conductive thread can be knitted in stitches of at least one wale of the wale-extending electrode portion, wherein the thread pieces of adjacent stitches in the mesh are in mentioned electrical contact with each other.

Neuchâtel, Schweiz, 1967.The electrically conductive thread may be at least in the region of the respective electrode to a base thread of the base knit be plated. This usually requires that, at least in the area of the wale-wise extending electrode parts, cut ends of the electrically conductive thread occur. Such thread ends can be avoided if the electrodes are at least partially worked in intarsia technique, i. Maschen contain, in which the electrically conductive thread is knitted and which are combined in intarsia technology with the basic knit. Intarsia technology is understood to be a knitting technology known per se. Examples of this intarsia technique can be found, for example, in "Dubied knitting workshop", Eduard Dubied & Cie S.A.

In principle, it should be noted that the electrodes containing the electrically conductive thread can be knitted in any appropriate patterning, ie mesh distribution and stitch configuration. In this case, the electrically conductive thread can be afloat in wale or course direction via one or more stitches.

A particularly advantageous application of the new knitwear is that it is part of a garment in which the action of moisture is to be monitored. This garment may be a pair of trousers in which a gusset portion is formed by the knitted fabric with the built-in moisture sensor. In the gusset area, the knitted fabric with the incorporated moisture sensor can be covered on at least one side by a moisture-permeable textile material, for example made of cotton fibers.

The electrical connection means for the electrodes of the moisture sensor of the new knitwear can be designed according to the particular application. The connection means may include terminals, connectors and the like, which allow the connection of electrical lines. These also include immediate signal generator in the form of small transmitters, Bluetooth devices and the like, which can be attached directly to the garment and emit signals wirelessly that can be received by a corresponding receiver. In the aforementioned pants, which can also be referred to as incontinence pants, the electrical connection means are expediently electrically connected to the electrically conductive threads of the electrodes electrical lines. Each of the electrical lines advantageously has a flexible electrically conductive yarn which is knitted with an electrically insulating yarn. Since two electrical wires are generally required for the electrical connection between the moisture sensor of the pants and the monitoring unit, the arrangement can advantageously be such that at least two lines each consisting of an electrically conductive yarn and its rewiring of electrically insulating yarn Forming a flexible multi-core textile cable with a common protective cloak are entwined. The result is a two- or multi-wire textile "wire", with which the electrical connection is established. The advantage of this textile wire compared to otherwise known strands or lines lies in its textile behavior. The fact that it consists of textile threads, the wire is extremely flexible and elastic. He has extremely small bending radii and is at worst perceived as a string.

The connection of the electrically conductive yarn or of the textile wire or cable containing it to the electrodes can be carried out in various ways per se. It must only be guaranteed a perfect electrical contact. Thus, the electrically conductive yarn of the electrical line can be knotted with the electrically conductive thread of the respective electrode. The ends of the conductive wire-containing conductive wire may also be connected, for example by means of a hook-and-loop fastener, to the electrically conductive yarn ends of the electrodes, or else the conductive yarn may be sewn firmly to the electrodes, to mention only some particularly useful embodiments.

The shape of the electrodes of the humidity sensor is to be selected with regard to the expected effect of moisture in the particular application. Since the electrodes are formed by mesh-knitted electrically conductive filaments, any suitable patterning in the fabrics can be chosen which ensures optimum localization and distribution of the electrically conductive filaments in the area to be monitored. Apart from the comb-like interdigitated electrodes already explained, the electrodes can also have further branches, which extend over several courses and sticks. It is also not absolutely necessary that the electrical pathways of the electrodes formed by electrically conductive threads in the knitted fabric extend exactly in wale or course row direction. By appropriate patterning even diagonally to the wales and rows running conductor tracks, or circular or wavy tracks can be produced with little effort.

In the Fig. 1 shown trousers 1 is formed with an incorporated moisture sensor and a so-called. Incontinence pants. It consists of an appropriate textile material, preferably a knit fabric and has two leg parts 2 and a collar 3. In the area between the two leg parts 2 gusset area a gusset 4 is inserted, which consists of a in the FIGS. 5, 6 shown knitted fabric, in which a moisture sensor 5 is incorporated. The knitted gusset 4 is sewn into the pants 1 or connected in an otherwise appropriate manner at the edge of this.

The gusset 4 consists of a basic knit of an entangled for example in right-left binding base thread 6, as shown in the FIGS. 5, 6 is shown in sections. The ground yarn 6 consists of a fiber material that changes its electrical resistance under the action of moisture. Such a fiber material is for example cotton. The electrical conductivity of the fibers is very much determined by their moisture content, the electrical resistance decreasing with increasing humidity. Fiber materials with similar properties include viscose, acetate, hemp fibers (linen), but also synthetic fiber materials.

In the knitted from the base yarn 6 basic knit two spaced apart electrically conductive electrodes 7 are knitted, the basic pattern structure in two embodiments of the FIGS. 2 and 3 can be seen. Each of the electrodes 7 includes an electrically conductive thread 8, which in the FIGS. 5, 6 is shown dark. Electrically conductive textile threads are commercially available in various embodiments. They are usually constructed in the form of yarns, the copper or Silbermonofilamente small diameter (for example 10-30 μ m and less) and textile threads, which are optionally twisted together. Examples of such electrically conductive yarns are in EP 0 816 543 B1 and the WO 093/24689 described. Between the two electrodes 7 are each rows of stitches and / or wales of the basic knit, so that with the help of the electrodes 7, the moisture of the pants 1 in the region of the gusset 4 can be detected. This is done in such a way that the electrical resistance between the two electrodes 7 is measured. Since, as mentioned, the electrical conductivity of the fiber material increases in the lying between the electrodes 7 parts of the base yarn 6 basic knitting with increasing moisture content, the measured between the electrodes 7 electrical resistance decreases with increasing moisture accordingly.

The electrically conductive thread of the electrodes 7 is in each case electrically connected to externally accessible electrical connection means, which in turn establish a connection to a monitoring and / or signal station. If the measured electrical resistance between the electrodes 7 falls below a threshold value, a signal may be applied, e.g. be sent directly to the nurses' room of the nursing station.

For the knitting of the electrodes 7 in the basic knitting from the main thread 6 different techniques are applicable, of which two in the FIGS. 6, 7 Illustrated are:
  • As is apparent from the schematic representation of the electrically conductive tracks of the electrodes 7 of the humidity sensor 5 in the FIGS. 2 and 3 As can be seen, each electrode 7 has an elongated first part 80 which extends extends in the wale direction of the basic knit and leads to connection points 9 on the waistband of the pants 3. From this first electrode part 80 go in the present case at right angles from a plurality of second electrode parts 10, which extend in the direction of the courses, as the FIGS. 5, 6 can be seen. The two electrodes 7 engage with their second electrode parts 10 in a comb-like manner. The pattern image of the electrodes 7 can in the gusset 4, for example according to Fig. 2 be designed where the second electrode parts 10 of each electrode 7 have the same length. In a modified embodiment according to Fig. 3 the arrangement is such that the second electrode parts 10 each have an equal length only in an upper, the moisture sensor 5 containing gusset region 11 and are increasingly shortened in an adjoining lower gusset region 12, so as to adapt to the bottom tapered shape of the To reach Zwickels 4. Of course, other patterning options are conceivable.

Die Figuren zeigen den stricktechnologischen Aufbau der Elektroden 7.The FIGS. 5 and 6 each illustrate a section of an electrode 7, approximately in the in Fig. 3 13 designated area in which a second electrode part 10 from a first electrode part 8 goes off. The figures show the knitting technology structure of the electrodes. 7

In the embodiment according to Fig. 5 the electrically conductive thread 8 is plated on the main thread 6. The wale-wise extending first electrode member 80 is composed of separate pieces of the electrically conductive thread 8 which are knitted in the stitches of two adjacent wales 14. The length of these thread pieces is dimensioned such that in the regions of the electrode 7, in which only the first electrode part 8 is present, the thread pieces each substantially extend over two adjacent stitches of each stitch row, while in the region of the second, laterally outgoing electrode portions 10, the thread pieces extend, for example, in two adjacent courses over a corresponding length of the respective second electrode portion 10 mesh size.

The pieces of thread of the electrically conductive thread 8 lying in the stitches of the wales 14 are held in electrical contact with each other in the knitted fabric by the stitch structure, so that over the length of the wales 14 there is a continuous electrical trace up to the connection point 9 FIG. 2 results. In each stitch, the electrical contact is in the wale direction via the crossing points in the stitches.

The yarn ends of the cut thread pieces of the electrically conductive thread 8 are not disturbing because of the small diameter of the electrically conductive copper or silver filaments in the rule. If, however, it is important to avoid potential chafing marks formed by these ends of the thread and to achieve a smooth surface of the knitted fabric, the patterns of the electrodes 7 can also be knitted in intarsia technique, as described in US Pat Fig. 6 is illustrated:
  • The electrode 7 is knitted according to the pattern from only a single electrically conductive thread 8 with its first electrode portion 80 pointing in the wale direction and its second electrode portions 10 extending in the course of the stitch row from only a single electrically conductive thread 8. The electrically conductive thread 8 is entangled at the edge stitches of the pattern with the adjacent stitches of the basic knitting formed from the main thread 6, as for the known Intarsia technology is characteristic.

For the electrical connection between the electrodes 7 of the humidity sensor 5 and a in Fig. 1 at 15 indicated, containing an electrical resistance measuring device monitoring unit 15 is used in the illustrated embodiment, an electrical line 16 which contains two wires 17, which are electrically connected at the connection points 9 with the electrically conductive threads 8 of the electrodes 7. The electrical line 16 is inventively designed as a special textile line. It consists essentially of an electrically conductive yarn 18 ( Fig. 7 ), from which the two wires 17 are formed and which is umtrickt to avoid a short circuit each with an electrically insulating yarn 19. The two cores 17 thus insulated from each other are knitted together with their insulation with a further jacket 20. The two- or multi-core textile line thus formed has the advantage of pronounced textile behavior over otherwise known strands or lines. Since it consists of textile threads, it is estrem flexible and also elastic. It has very small bending radii.

The connection of the wires 17 with the electrodes 7 at the connection points 9 can, as already mentioned, be done in many ways. For example, the electrically conductive yarn of the wires 18 of the line 16 with an end 19 (FIG. Fig. 5, 6 ) of the conductive thread 8 of the respective electrode 7 are linked. The end 19 of the conductive thread 8 can also be connected to the conductive yarn of the wires 18 of the line 16 via a hook-and-loop fastener, as shown at 21 in FIG Fig. 5 is indicated. Also, the conductive yarn ends of the wires 18 can be easily sewn to the ends of the electrode pieces 8, making electrical contact at the seam.

The above in the basis of the Fig. 7 described electrical line 16 can also be used directly as a moisture sensor by knitting it directly into the basic knit. Since the textile insulation of the two cores 18 is permeable to water, the electrical resistance between the two cores 18 is dependent on the moisture in the insulation sheaths 19, 20. If the textile line becomes wet at one point, the electrical resistance between the two cores 18 falls accordingly. Thus, the entire conduit 17 within the base knit serves as a moisture sensor, the electrodes of which may extend in both wale and course direction depending on how the conduit is entangled.

It is also conceivable to lay such a sensor, as well as a knitted fabric of the type described with incorporated moisture sensor in bed, for example, under the sheets and so to detect a, occurring in bed moisture. The advantage of this system is that the patient no longer needs to be connected to the monitoring unit 15 via trousers or the like.
