Claims (1)
- Method for monitoring the ignition of a gas appliance, especially a gas-fired heater installed in a fireplace, comprising a main burner (2) to which a main gas stream flows, with a pilot burner (1) for igniting the main burner (2) by means of a pilot light and a gas regulator fitting for operating and monitoring said gas appliance, wherein the gas regulator fitting for the pilot burner comprises a safety pilot valve (10) as well as a main valve (11) for the main burner (2) and a switch (18) with a drive unit (20) controlled by an electronic control unit (7) for modulating the main gas flow, wherein the safety pilot valve (10) has a thermoelectric safety pilot magnet (16) which is controlled by a thermocouple (17) exposed to the pilot light, and a sensor which records the operating condition of the main burner (2) is arranged on said burner, characterised in that the opening of the main valve (11) can be activated in such a manner when the drive unit (20) is operated that, in the absence of a feedback signal from the sensor (21) if the main gas flow in the main burner (2) has not ignited within a set time, the main valve (11) and the safety pilot valve (10) are closed again also for a set time, and a renewed attempt to start the appliance can be made only after the expiry of a minimum period of time.
