Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method of packaging products in cells of a plate (also called “blister” by those skilled in the art), formed in a strip and sealed with a sealing film, the process comprising the steps first of forming cells in the moving strip, thanks to a cell forming station, then filling each cell with a product, in particular but not limited to a pharmaceutical product in the form of a tablet or a capsule, thanks to a feeding system; and finally sealing the cells thus filled, by the lidding film scrolling, thanks to a cell sealing station.
- the invention also relates to a machine for carrying out the aforementioned method.
- FIG. 1A and 1B An example of such a known plate 1 is shown in Figures 1A and 1B.
- the plate 1 is delimited by an outline 7 in a strip 4, to form what the skilled person calls "blister".
- Several plate sizes are of course possible.
- the band 4 may be for example plastic, preferably polyvinyl chloride (PVC), or another material, such as an aluminum complex, and may be transparent or opaque.
- the band 4 comprises cells 2 for packaging the products 5.
- the cells 2 filled with the products 5 are sealed with a film 6, generally of the metal material type, preferably aluminum.
- the plate 1 also includes in general but not necessarily precuts 8 around the cells, to allow individualization of the cells 2.
- the plate 1 also comprises a marking 3 near the cells 2, the marking being either individual cell or common to all the cells.
- the marking 3 allows the transcription on the plate 1 of a certain amount of information, such as, for example, the batch number of the products 5, and their expiry date.
- Inkjet ink is an expensive consumable.
- Inkjet marking is not indelible and therefore not inviolable.
- ink can generate leaks on the machines, which increase the production time of the plates and machine cleaning.
- the method being characterized in that it comprises a step of marking the strip near the cells by a laser beam.
- the marking step is carried out after the forming of the cells but before the filling of each cell;
- the method comprises a cleaning step of the band thus marked
- the cleaning step of the strip comprises the steps of: brushing the strip with a brush to remove from the strip the dust generated by the laser marking, and
- the laser marking is carried out in housings comprising:
- the invention also relates to a machine for carrying out the aforementioned method.
- the invention has many advantages.
- the readability of the marking is much better than that of an embossing or an inkjet. Reproducibility of quality is ensured by the laser marking technique.
- the invention does not require an ink consumable, and is therefore less expensive.
- Laser marking is indelible and tamper proof, which improves product traceability.
- the invention allows a reduction of format changeover times.
- a simple programming of the batch number and expiry date is enough.
- the programming has a duration of the order of five minutes. The rate of packaging of the products is therefore increased.
- the marking is always present after extraction of the product from the cell, unlike the situation of marking on the film.
- the traceability of the product is further improved.
- the laser marking on the strip can be carried out directly with the known conventional strips, while the laser marking on the film requires a particular structure of the latter, in particular the presence of a solid color.
- the manufacturing cost of the plate is reduced by the invention.
- the laser marking is preferably carried out after the forming of the cells but before the filling of each cell. This prevents the products from being damaged by the laser.
- the laser marking can, however, be performed after filling the cells.
- FIG. 2A represents a perspective view of an example of a possible embodiment of a machine according to the invention
- - Figure 2B schematically shows a side view of a machine according to Figure 2A;
- FIG. 2C schematically represents the main steps of a method according to the invention
- - Figure 3 shows a perspective view of protective housings provided with lasers and mounted on a machine according to the invention
- FIG. 4 schematically shows a perspective view of a housing
- FIG. 5 schematically shows a front view of a housing; and - Figure 6 schematically shows the cleaning means of the band.
- the invention relates to the packaging of products in cells of a plate ("blister") formed in a strip and sealed with a lidding film.
- a method and a machine for implementing the method are described with reference to FIGS. 2A, 2B and 2C.
- a strip 4 is initially in the form of a coil. It is provided, during a step S1, to the packaging machine by a de-stemmer
- the band 4 is of the plastic or aluminum complex type, transparent or opaque, preferably of the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) type.
- PVC polyvinyl chloride
- a heating station 102 heats the band 4 during a step S2.
- the band 4 becomes malleable.
- a cell forming station 103 then forms cells 2 in the moving strip 4 during a step S3. It is understood that in order to allow the formation of the cells 2, a temporary stop of the scrolling of the band 4 may be necessary.
- a cooling station 104 is used to cool, during a step S4, the strip 4 in scroll once the cells 2 formed.
- the tape hardens.
- the band 4 then passes preferentially in the lower part of at least one casing 105, each casing 105 being equipped, in its upper part, with a laser 1051 for laser marking of the band 4 near the cells 2. marking is carried out during step S5.
- each housing 105 makes it possible to ensure the safety of a user by preventing any contact of the latter with a laser marking beam.
- the laser marking on the strip 4 generates more toxic fumes, due to the burning of the strip 4 by the laser beam.
- the housing 105 also allows to contain and then to evacuate the toxic fumes. The safety of a user is therefore reassured, preventing any inhalation of fumes by the user.
- each casing 105 comprises a vertical wall 1052 opposite to a door 1055 that can open, and two opposite vertical side walls 1053 and 1054.
- the lower part 1059 of the casing 105 allows the passage of the band 4 scrolling.
- the upper portion of the casing has an inlet 10511 for a laser beam from the laser 1051.
- the gate 1055 is preferably transparent, and allows a user to monitor the progress of a marking, while ensuring its security.
- each housing 105 has an extraction mouth 1058 made in the side wall 1053 of the housing.
- the extraction mouth 1058 is coupled to an extractor 111 for recovering the toxic fumes by suction.
- the extraction mouth 1058 is also coupled to an intake port 1056 of air in the housing, to ensure air flow into the housing.
- the intake port 1056 is formed in the side wall 1054 of the housing.
- the shape and the design of the mouth 1058 make it possible to ensure an extraction air flow which also makes it possible to minimize the deposits of burnt strip particles, especially on the walls of the casing.
- the dust is also captured by the extractor 111.
- the housing is designed to provide optimal extraction performance without disrupting the overall operation of the machine.
- the extraction mouth 1058 of the fumes and dust is thus located closest to the marking areas.
- Each extractor 111 is specific to the type of toxic fumes generated by the laser marking, here the PVC fumes, and includes filters.
- the casing has in its lower part 1059 a device 1057 for holding the band 4 in the casing 105, to prevent lifting of the band 4 during the extraction of the fumes under the effect of the flow of air between the air inlet mouth 1056 and the extraction mouth 1058.
- the device 1057 is preferably in the form of a holding rod.
- each laser 1051 and the number of lasers 1051 on the machine are determined according to the stopping times available for marking, the forming and conditioning rates, and the total number of characters to be marked.
- the machine comprises for example two lasers 1051 which have for example a power of 50 Watts.
- the position of the laser heads 1051 is adjustable on the machine, to ensure the marking for different sizes of cells and plates. Sliding relative to the housing 105 along an axis 11 is thus as shown in FIG. 3. Graduated rulers make it possible to reproduce the positioning adjustments of the laser 1051 with respect to the casing 105.
- the marking is effected, very preferably, on the upper side of the strip, that is to say on the same side of the strip as the shell of the cells.
- This marking on the upper side of the band avoids the need for mirror inversion of the marking. It also avoids the formation of toxic dust that could pollute the products in the cells or be ingested by a user of the products. However, it is understood that marking on the side of the cells is technically possible.
- a pulley system 106 makes it possible to modify the stroke of the band 4 to return it.
- the shell of the cells 2, which was in the upper position, especially for marking, is found in the lower position. This position allows easy filling of the cells with the products.
- the method comprises a step S6 'for cleaning the marked strip.
- the cleaning means carrying out the cleaning step S6 ' comprise a brushing brush 1101 for removing the dust deposit from the strip.
- the brush 1101 is cylindrical in shape and is mounted in a chamber 1104. It performs a permanent rotation.
- the enclosure 1104 is preferably mounted in the lower position of a longitudinal support 1105 of the moving strip. However, it is understood that another position is possible for the enclosure 1104 and the brush 1101, depending on the configuration of each machine.
- the cleaning means also comprise a vacuum cleaner 1102 for extracting, by suction, dust suspended by the brush 1101 in the enclosure 1104.
- the vacuum cleaner 1102 is coupled to an extraction mouth 11021 made in the enclosure 1104.
- the method also comprises a step S7 of filling each cell 2 with a product.
- the product is in general, but without limitation, a pharmaceutical product, for example in the form of a tablet or a capsule. It can also be blisters.
- the filling is carried out thanks to a feed system 107 allowing the individual filling of the cells.
- the method also comprises a step S8 for supplying a lidding film 6.
- the lidding film 6 is initially in the form of a spool and is supplied to the machine by a film uncoiler 108.
- the film is of the metal material type, preferably aluminum.
- step S9 the cells 2 are sealed by the sealing film 6 by virtue of the sealing station 109.
- a method according to the invention conventionally comprises a step S10 of producing pre-cuts (referenced by 8 on Figure 1A) and contour cutting (referenced 7 in Figure 1A) to form the final plate.
- a cutting station 112 makes it possible to perform step S10.
