Definitions

  • the invention relates to a brush with a handle, a bristle carrier plate which is attached directly to the handle, and a plurality of bristle bundles, which are inserted through receiving openings in the bristle carrier plate.
  • One method of attachment is to insert the bristles as a dense package into a sleeve and to glue the ends of the bristles disposed in the sleeve together, for example by synthetic resin. Subsequently, the handle of the brush is connected to the sleeve. In this type of attachment, although a very dense bristle package can be obtained. However, the individual bristles are not kept very reliable.
  • Another type of attachment is to fix the bristles by means of small brackets in holes, for example in a wooden body. Although it is in principle possible with this type of attachment to fasten the bristles comparatively well.
  • the holes used to receive the bristles need to be a relatively large distance apart, otherwise the body containing the holes will not have sufficient strength to hold the staples.
  • the necessary distance of the holes from each other causes the bristle package is not very dense. This problem is even more serious when used as bristles natural bristles, such as pig hair.
  • the staple can be placed in the middle of the U-shaped bristles and both ends of the bristle can be used, in pig hair bristles only one end can be used, namely the opposite end of the hair root. It follows that the bristles must be made longer than the actual bristle package, since the lying inside the brush end portion is bent to be able to be attached by the clip can.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a brush which is characterized by low production costs, a dense bristle package and a reliable attachment of the individual bristles.
  • the bristle carrier plate is a grid and the bristles of a bristle bundle are connected at their plugged through the receiving openings ends with the bristle carrier plate.
  • a grid is characterized in that the proportion of the receiving openings in relation to the total area is very large, in particular greater than 50 percent. In this way, a particularly high density of the bristle package results.
  • the entire bristle package is divided into several smaller bristle bundles, which facilitates the attachment of the bristles.
  • the handle is provided with a receptacle into which the bristle carrier plate is inserted.
  • a receptacle into which the bristle carrier plate is inserted.
  • the receptacle can be made so deep that the edges of the receptacle support the bristle package.
  • the bristle carrier plate is provided on its side facing the handle with a circumferential collar.
  • the handle can be glued to the bristle carrier plate or mechanically attached to this, for example by nails, a snap connection, a screw connection, a welded connection, etc.
  • Another advantage of the circulating collar is that a clean completion of the area is given, in which the bristle bundles with the bristle carrier plate be connected and the handle is connected to the bristle carrier plate.
  • the handle can also be molded onto the bristle carrier plate, ie encompassing outside within the federal government or else the bristle carrier plate.
  • the bristle carrier plate is enclosed in a sleeve, which also causes the connection with the stem.
  • the sleeve assumes the function of the federal government.
  • the advantage of this embodiment is that the bristle carrier plate is better accessible for the insertion of the bristle bundles.
  • the sleeve can be made of sheet metal, so that the brush visually looks very similar to a traditional brush.
  • the bristle carrier plate is provided on its side facing the bristles with a circumferential collar. This supports the bristle package, so that the bristles are held together well.
  • the collar can have either parallel walls or walls that run away from each other from the bristle carrier plate.
  • the bristle carrier plate may be flat or arched. This is particularly advantageous in terms of stiffness.
  • the density of the bristle pack can also be influenced by how the bristle bundles are arranged in the bristle carrier plate.
  • at least one of the bristle bundles can be arranged in a direction that is not perpendicular to the bristle carrier plate.
  • the outer rows of bristle bundles may be inclined to the center of the bristle pack.
  • the density of the bristle pack can also be varied by the fact that the surface portions of the receiving openings differ from one another in different sections of the bristle carrier plate.
  • a lower density can be achieved in the outer region of a bristle package than in the middle, where, for example larger receiving openings can be used, which are surrounded by thinner webs.
  • small voids can be formed, which serve as a "storage space" for color.
  • the bristles of a bundle of bristles are preferably connected to one another at their ends inserted through the receiving openings. This ensures that no bristles dissolve out of a bundle of bristles.
  • ends of the bristles of a bristle bundle for example, be welded together.
  • the ends of the bristles may be pressed against a heated die so that they melt and weld together.
  • the appropriate side of the bristle carrier plate can be melted by suitable design of the melt die and suitable selection of the pressure, so that the ends of the bristle bundles are also welded to the bristle carrier plate.
  • they may be forced into the molten bristles to process the surface or to obtain a better density.
  • the bristles of a bristle bundle are glued together at their ends inserted through the receiving openings, for example by means of a synthetic resin. This is particularly advantageous when bristles are used of a material that is not suitable for welding.
  • the bristle bundles can also be connected to the bristle carrier plate at the same time.
  • the bristle carrier plate is equipped with different bristles.
  • An example of such equipment is to equip the receiving openings arranged on the outside of the bristle carrier plate with particularly wear-resistant bristles and those in the middle of the bristle carrier plate arranged receiving openings to stock with particularly color-receptive bristles.
  • bristles within a receiving opening, for example a mix of synthetic bristles and natural bristles.
  • a brush according to a first embodiment is shown.
  • the essential components of this brush are a handle 10, a bristle carrier plate 20 and a bristle package 30th
  • the bristle carrier plate 20 (see FIG. 2 ) has a grid-like body 22 in which a plurality of receiving openings 24 are formed, which are separated by webs 26 from each other.
  • the receiving openings 24 serve to receive bristle bundles 32, from which the bristle pack 30 is composed.
  • the shape of the receiving openings 24 is essentially determined by the desired properties of the brush and by strength requirements. However, the larger the surface portion of the receiving openings 24 on the total surface of the body 22, the higher the density of the bristle package 30. However, the strength of the bristle carrier plate also decreases, since the webs 26 must be made correspondingly thinner.
  • the shape of the receiving openings 24 depends essentially on how the bristles and the bristle bundles 32 formed by the receiving openings 24 are to be arranged within the bristle pack 30.
  • the webs 26 around the receiving openings 24 may be provided on both sides with bevels, on the one hand to facilitate the insertion of the bristle bundles 32 in the receiving openings 24 and the other the connection the end of the bristles with the bristle carrier plate pushed through the bristle carrier plate 20 to improve.
  • the webs are also generated at the base of the bristle package empty spaces, which act as a storage space for color. By suitable arrangement and dimensioning of these voids, it is specified how much color can be made available there, how many bristles are in contact with the paint, and how quickly and uniformly the paint is guided from there to the bristle tips during brushing.
  • the grid-like body 22 is on its outside with a collar 28 (see also FIG. 1 ), which serves to receive the handle 10.
  • a second collar 29 is provided which surrounds the bristle pack 30 and serves to support the bristles.
  • the collar 29 is here designed so that its walls converge away from the bristle carrier plate. In this way, the bristles are particularly well held together and supported.
  • the bristle bundles 32 are pushed through the receiving openings 24 with the ends that are to be anchored in the brush. Subsequently, the inserted through the grid-like body 22 ends are connected together.
  • the ends of the bristles were welded together for this purpose, so that the in FIG. 1 shown, mushroom-shaped welding heads 34 are formed.
  • the ends of the bristles may be melted into a common continuous film-like plastic mass.
  • the film-like plastic mass may be uniformly thick or have different thicknesses over its surface. For example, a thickening of the film-like plastic compound may be formed at the locations where bristle bundles are located.
  • the ends of the bundles of bristles 32 can be welded to the bristle carrier plate 20, more precisely with the webs surrounding the receiving openings 24.
  • the bristle carrier plate 20 is preferably made of a plastic which can be welded to the material of the bristles.
  • the handle 10 is inserted into the collar 28 and connected thereto by means of a layer of adhesive 12.
  • a layer of adhesive 12 for example, a synthetic resin can be used.
  • the collar 28 has the advantage that on the one hand the handle 10 receives precisely, so that created a mechanically stable attachment becomes. On the other hand, the collar 28 ensures that no adhesive 12 and also no material of the ends of the bundles of bristles 32 welded together can escape to the outside. So it is a visually very clean connection between the handle 10 and the bristle carrier plate 20 guaranteed.
  • the handle can be connected in other ways with the bristle carrier plate 20, for example by a detent or clip connection, by nails, screws or by a thread. It is also possible to carry out the handle 10, for example made of plastic, and to inject it directly into the bristle carrier plate 20, so that it is fastened there.
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 a brush according to a second embodiment is shown.
  • the same reference numerals are used, and reference is made to the above explanations in this respect.
  • the difference between the first and the second embodiment is that in the second embodiment, not the handle is inserted into the bristle carrier plate, but the bristle carrier plate 20 in the handle 10.
  • the handle is provided with a receptacle 14 which designed in the manner of a large blind hole.
  • the bristle carrier plate 20 equipped with the bristles is inserted (see the case P in FIG. 4 ).
  • the receptacle 14 is designed so deep that the free edge of the receptacle 14 forming apron surrounds the bristle pack 30 similar and supports as the collar 29 in the first embodiment.
  • the bristle carrier plate 20 is formed in the second embodiment without a collar. It is only on the side on which the ends of the bristles are connected to the bristle carrier plate 20, a small collar 21 is provided which prevents a used for fixing the bristle bundle 32 adhesive 12 flows laterally from the bristle carrier plate 20. The collar 21 furthermore ensures a higher mechanical stability of the bristle carrier plate 20.
  • an adhesive 12 may be used, or it may be used any other type of attachment.
  • FIGS. 5 to 7 a third embodiment is shown.
  • the same reference numerals are used, and reference is made to the above explanations in this respect.
  • the essential difference between the first and third embodiments is that in the third embodiment, the area ratio of the receiving openings 24 for the bristle bundles 32 is smaller than in the first embodiment. This results in a lower density of the bristle package 30.
  • the surface portion of the receiving openings 24 in an outer annular region of the grid-like body 22 is greater than in the middle.
  • FIGS. 8 and 9 a bristle package 30 is shown with bristle carrier plate 20 for a brush according to a fourth embodiment.
  • bristle carrier plate 20 for a brush according to a fourth embodiment.
  • FIG. 10 different variants of the bristle carrier plate 20 are shown, which differ by differently shaped receiving openings 24 and different webs between the receiving openings.
  • paint spaces are created by the lands at the base of the bristle pack.
  • FIG. 10a an approximately annular rectangular storage space is formed, while in the variant of FIG. 10b a central reservoir is formed, which is provided with eight "bay window”.
  • FIG. 10c is similar to in FIG. 10a formed a generally rectangular circumferential storage space, the cross-section but increases towards the center.
  • the bristle carrier plate 20 is rectangular in the fourth embodiment. There are also rectangular receiving openings for the Bristle bundle 32 used as in FIG. 9 can be seen by the shape and the arrangement of the welded ends of the bristle bundles.
  • FIG. 11 a brush according to a fifth embodiment is shown.
  • the same reference numerals are used, and reference is made to the above explanations in this respect.
  • the handle 10 is hollow and composed of two shells 40, 42. Integral with the handle 10, the collar 29 is executed, which supports the bristle pack 30 and holds together. For this purpose, the federal government converges conically towards the front.
  • the bristle carrier plate 20 is received in the handle by means of a circumferential groove 44 (see FIG. 12 ) formed in the two shells 40, 42.
  • the bristle carrier plate 20 can simply be held mechanically in the groove 44. Alternatively, the bristle carrier plate 20 can be glued or welded.
  • the hollow handle according to the fifth embodiment results in a brush with very low weight.
  • the two shells 40, 42 can be very easily produced in an injection mold, since each shell can be easily removed from the mold; the mold parting plane runs through the middle of the handle.
  • the collar 29 can be easily tapered running,
  • FIG. 13 a first variant of the fifth embodiment is shown.
  • the difference to that in FIG. 11 shown brush is that the handle is reinforced inside by three ribs 46 so that it can not be compressed even if a small wall thickness is used.
  • FIG. 14 a second variant of the fifth embodiment is shown.
  • the difference to that in FIG. 11 shown brush is that in the region of the transition from the collar 29 to the handle 10, a cover plate 48 is arranged. This serves as a support for the bristle carrier plate 20 and prevents the bristle carrier plate 20 can be pressed by an excessively strong pressure on the bristle bundle 30 in the handle 10.
  • the end plate 48 serves as a separation between the region of the Bristle bundle 30 and the handle 10 and prevents color can get into the interior of the hollow handle 10.
  • FIG. 15 a third variant of the fifth embodiment is shown.
  • the difference to that in FIG. 11 shown brush is that the two shells 40, 42 are designed as a multi-component part.
  • two sections 50 of a plastic are injected, which is softer than the material of the two shells 40, 42, for example of thermoplastic elastomer.
  • Such a softer plastic material improves the feel of the handle and can be suitably arranged as required, for example as a support for the user's thumb and / or forefinger.
  • the collar 29 is molded from a resilient material to the two shells 40, 42, which form the handle 10. In this way, a yielding within certain limits support for the bristle package 30 is obtained. It is also possible to inject the collar only partially from the compliant material, while other parts are made of the same, harder material as the handle 10.
  • FIGS. 13 to 15 can be combined with each other in any way.
  • each shell 40, 42 is provided on a longitudinal edge with a small circumferential welding edge 52, which is opposite to a flat edge of the other shell. This makes it possible to connect the two shells by ultrasonic welding together. It is particularly advantageous that the two shells 40, 42 are made identical, so that one and the same injection mold for producing both shells 40, 42 can be used. Alternatively, the welding edge 52 could also be provided on only one of the two shells 40, 42.
  • bristles different materials may be used for the bristles.
  • plastic bristles may be used, as well as natural fibers such as pig hair, cattle hair, badger, etc.
  • Bristles of plastic may use solid bristles or hollow bristles.
  • the cross-sectional shape of the bristles can be adapted to the respective requirements, for example, be round, star-shaped, triangular, rectangular, or even a mixture of different cross-sectional shapes.
  • bristles made of plastic with natural bristles for example, bristles made of plastic with natural bristles.
  • the tips of the bristles may be preprocessed, for example, rounded or chamfered.
  • the thickness of the lattice-shaped body can be varied, so that, for example, a greater thickness is provided in mechanically more heavily loaded areas.
  • a particular advantage resulting from the use of the bristle carrier plate 20 with receiving openings 24, is that the shape of the bristle package 30 can be produced in the desired manner with little effort by simply more or less pushed the bristles into the receiving openings 24 , It is also possible to use from the outset bristles of different lengths, so that the waste is minimized, resulting in lower production costs.
  • the bristle carrier plate may be provided with elements such as fingers, fins, etc., which may be made of a compliant material, such as thermoplastic elastomer. These elements can support the bristles within the bristle package. With such elements also special coating effects can be brought about, for example structural effects. On the bristle carrier plate, elements such as sponges, etc. may be provided between the bristle packs, which form a color supply and influence the color absorption or distribution.
