Abstract

The device consists of two parts, namely a first part (10) or "damping part", of soft material and intended to damp the opening (1), which is mounted on a second part (20) or " fixation part ", in hard material and itself mounted on the lining (2) of the opening. The fixing portion (20) is mounted on the lining (2) of the opening by "clipping" and the damping portion (10) is mounted on the fixing portion (20) by "clipping" also.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a device for reducing the "over-stroke" in the operation of a rear leaf of a motor vehicle.
  • "Rear opening" means any movable bodywork element opening upwards, such as a rear door, a tailgate, a trunk lid, etc.
  • "Over-running" is the extra movement done beyond the normal run.
  • Repeated closing of an opening of a motor vehicle, for example a trunk lid, may result in markings of the rear bumper, especially in the form of scales of the paint bumper. These markings are due to the weight of the trunk lid and the slamming of the latter on the frame.
  • Means are already known for limiting over-travel in the operation of a rear opening of a motor vehicle. So, for example, the document US 2005/0093342 A1 describes an "overclad" damper or stop for a tailgate. This damper has a protuberance on the tailgate. A stopper, mounted on the vehicle body, comes into contact with the protrusion when the tailgate comes into the closed position. The stop member has a contact portion and a lateral attachment portion. The contact portion is configured to engage the protrusion when the tailgate is in the closed position. The lateral attachment portion has a protruding shape for forcibly pressing a lateral face of the protuberance. The contact portion of the stop piece deforms when the tailgate comes into the closed position and therefore absorbs shock, reduces impact noise, and avoids excessive insertion of the tailgate. The side fastening portion presses a side face of the protrusion, which avoids any "misalignment" of the tailgate.
  • The object of the present invention is to provide a new device to reduce the "over-stroke" in the operation of a rear door of a motor vehicle, which is less complex than the devices now known and used and allows to remove more effectively any marking of the rear bumper.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide such a device, which makes it possible to provide two functions in a reduced environment: on the one hand, a function of reduction - or abutment - of the over-travel mentioned above, and on the other hand, an aesthetic function by plugging cataphoresis holes on the opening.
  • It is also an object of the present invention to provide such a device, which makes possible the evacuation of water from the hollow body between the opening of the vehicle and its lining.
  • Finally, it is also an object of the present invention to provide such a device fulfilling the functions mentioned above, which is, moreover, simple to manufacture, which is robust, reliable and economical.
  • To achieve these aims, the present invention relates to a device for reducing the "over-stroke" in the operation of a rear leaf of a motor vehicle, which device consists of two parts, namely a first part, also called "Damping portion", in soft material and intended to damp the opening, which is fixedly mounted on a second portion, also referred to as "fixing portion", made of hard material and itself fixedly mounted on the lining of the opening.
  • Preferably, the fixing portion of the device is fixedly mounted on the lining of the opening by "clipping".
  • Also preferentially, the damping portion of the device is fixedly mounted on the fixing part by "clipping".
  • Preferably, the assembly by "clipping" of the fastening part on the opening is made by a protuberance of this fixing portion, which protuberance is shaped to form a fastening clip.
  • This fixing clip is preferably shaped to fit in the fixing position, a cataphoresis hole of the opening.
  • According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, this fastening clip has at least one notch for ensuring a good evacuation of the water entered into the hollow body between the opening and the opening lining.
  • According to a preferred embodiment of the invention also, this fastening clip has a substantially parallelepiped shape surmounted by a truncated pyramid shape whose base acts as a locking means of the clip after passing through the lining of the opening.
  • Each notch of the clip for draining the water preferably has a cylindrical sector shape and is located on a lateral face of the clip.
  • The present invention also relates to a rear door of a motor vehicle, which comprises a device for reducing its "over-stroke", which device is consistent with that described above in outline.
  • The rear opening is preferably equipped with two of these devices according to the invention, identical, and positioned symmetrically with respect to the central axis of symmetry of the opening.
  • The present invention finally relates to a motor vehicle, wherein the rear opening is consistent with that outlined above.
  • This rear door of the vehicle may be, for example, a trunk lid, or a tailgate.
  • Other objects, advantages and features of the invention will appear in the following description of a preferred embodiment, not limiting the object and scope of the present patent application, accompanied by drawings in which:
    • the figure 1 is a perspective view of the device for reducing the "over-stroke" in the operation of a motor vehicle rear opening, according to the present invention,
    • the figure 2 is a schematic sectional view of the device of the figure 1 fixed mounted on the hood lining of a motor vehicle,
    • the figure 3 is a schematic perspective view of the interior of the lining of the opening of the device of the Figures 1 and 2 in the fixing position, and
    • the figure 4 is a perspective view of a motor vehicle hood equipped with two devices according to the present invention and shown on the Figures 1, 2 and 3 .
  • With reference to the drawing of the figure 1 , there is shown an embodiment of a device for decreasing the "over-stroke" in the operation of a rear leaf of a motor vehicle, according to the present invention.
  • This device consists of two parts:
    • a first part, referenced 10, also called "damping part", of generally parallelepipedal general shape, made of soft material and intended to damp the opening of the vehicle as will be described below,
    • a second part 20, also called "fixing part", hard material and mounted on the lining of the opening, as best shown on the figures 2 and 3 .
  • The damping portion 10 is fixedly mounted on the fastening portion 20 by clipping, preferably.
  • The fixing portion 20 is preferably also mounted on the lining 2 of the opening 1 by clipping. It is relatively hard, so as to support the efforts and ensure a good clipping on the opening. It has a cut-off shape adapted to the shape of the lining 2 of the opening 1 ( figure 2 , more particularly) in the fastening area of the device of the invention on the liner 2. The fastening portion 20 and the lining 2 cooperate, thus, by contact by matching shapes.
  • It goes without saying that the clipping fixtures mentioned above can be replaced by assemblies by other similar means, known from the prior art.
  • The mounting by clipping of the fastening portion 20 on the opening 1 is formed by a protrusion 21 of this fastening portion 20. This protrusion 21 has a shape adapted to form a fastening clip.
  • According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, this fastening clip 21 closes, in the fixing position on the lining, a hole of cataphoresis of the opening, referenced 2A on the figures 2 and 3 . It should be noted that the cataphoresis holes are essential to fight the corrosion of the parts of the opening, but their presence is often criticized in terms of aesthetics. Thus, the device of the invention, by being placed in such openings and masking, participates favorably in the design of the opening of the vehicle.
  • In addition, these cataphoresis holes also serve to evacuate the residual water in the hollow body included between the opening and its lining. It will be noted that the device of the present invention allows this evacuation of water, while coming to hide the cataphoresis holes concerned. To this end, the fastening clip 21 has at least one notch 22, which ensures, by its shape and its arrangement, a good evacuation of the water entered into the hollow body between the opening 1 and the opening lining 2 .
  • The fastening clip 21 has a substantially parallelepipedal shape 21A surmounted by a truncated pyramid shape 21B, whose base acts as a retaining means in the lining 2 of the opening 1.
  • Each notch 22 is preferably in the form of a cylindrical sector and is located on a lateral face of the fastening clip 21.
  • When the trunk lid 1, 2 of the vehicle is closed, the lower flat face of the damping portion 10 comes into contact with the rear bumper 3 to make an over-travel stop of the closing maneuver. The relatively soft material of this cushioning portion 10 prevents the marking of the bumper.
  • The present invention has the economic advantage of constituting a single piece providing several different functions (stop over-stroke, masking cataphoresis holes, evacuation of water from the opening), all functions provided in the devices of the prior art, by different parts.
  • The present invention also relates to a rear door of a motor vehicle, which comprises at least one device for reducing its over-stroke as described above. As shown on the figure 4 , for the concept of the present invention to apply effectively, it is necessary to place at least two devices D1 and D2, identical to the device of the invention described above. The two devices D1 and D2 are located symmetrically with respect to the central plane of symmetry of the opening 1.
  • The present invention finally relates to a motor vehicle, which comprises a rear opening, in particular a rear trunk lid, equipped with devices for reducing the over-travel of the rear opening, preferably at least two devices such as the devices D1 and D2 of the figure 4 .
  • Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown above by way of example; other embodiments may be devised by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and scope of the present invention.

Claims (13)

  1. Device for reducing the "over-stroke" in the operation of a rear leaf (1) of a motor vehicle, characterized in that it consists of two parts, namely a first part (10) called "damping part"", In soft material and for damping the opening (1), which is fixedly mounted on a second portion (20) called" fixing portion ", hard material and itself fixed on the liner (2) of opening.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that said fixing portion (20) is fixedly mounted on the lining (2) of the opening by "clipping".
  3. Device according to any one of claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said damping portion (10) is fixedly mounted on said fixing portion (20) by "clipping".
  4. Device according to any one of claims 2 and 3, characterized in that the mounting by "clipping" of the fastening portion (20) on the opening (1) is formed by a protuberance (21) of said fastening portion (20), which protuberance is shaped to form a fastening clip (21).
  5. Device according to claim 4, characterized in that said fastening clip (21) is shaped to fit, in the fixing position, a cataphoresis hole (2A) of the opening (1).
  6. Device according to any one of claims 4 and 5, characterized in that said fastening clip (21) has at least one notch (22) for ensuring a good evacuation of the water entered into the hollow body between the opening (1) and the lining (2) opening.
  7. Device according to any one of claims 5 and 6, characterized in that said fastening clip (21) has a shape substantially parallelepipedic (21A) surmounted by a truncated pyramid shape (21B) whose base acts as a blocking means after passing through the lining (2) of the opening.
  8. Device according to claim 6, characterized in that said notch (22) at least has a cylindrical sector shape, and is located on the side face of the fastening clip (21).
  9. Rear opening of a motor vehicle, characterized in that it comprises at least one device for reducing its "over-stroke" according to any one of claims 1 to 8.
  10. Motor vehicle rear opening according to claim 9, characterized in that it is equipped with two devices (D1, D2) to reduce its over-travel, which devices are in accordance with any one of claims 1 to 8.
  11. Rear opening of a motor vehicle according to claim 10, characterized in that said two devices (D1, D2) are located symmetrically with respect to the central plane of symmetry of the leaf.
  12. Motor vehicle, characterized in that the rear opening (1) is in accordance with a rear opening according to any one of claims 9 to 11.
  13. Motor vehicle according to claim 12, characterized in that the rear opening (1) is a trunk lid.
