Definitions
- the invention relates to a fall arrester, which is part of a climbing protection system for preventing the crash of a user from a ladder, a pedestal or the like.
- the fall arrester is movable along a guide rail and has a rotatably mounted pawl, which runs in a crash against snaps in the guide rail, whereby the fall arrester is locked in the guide rail.
- a connecting element is arranged on the pawl and the user can be secured by a securing strap on the connecting element.
- the connecting element may be formed as a deformable damping element.
- the damping element is integrally formed with the pawl.
- a fall arrester in which the rotatably mounted pawl is positively coupled to a fastener, wherein the impact shock, which occurs in a crash of the secured person, releases the positive connection, so that the pawl can swing by spring force against the catch pawls in the guide rail and locks the fall arrester in the guide rail.
- a fall arrester in which the pawl is formed integrally with the body of the fall arrester and on the body is hinged to a pawl to which the securing strap is attached.
- the suspension latch is U-shaped. If the fall arrester engages in a crash on the guide rail, the U-shape of the Einitatiklinke is bent and thereby dampen the impact force.
- a catching device for a climbing protection system is known in which the fastening device is an approximately kidney-shaped dented steel ring which is stretched in a crash. Due to the stretching traps energy is reduced and thereby dampens the impact force.
- a damping device for a safety harness which contains a multiply zigzag folded portion which also absorbs a portion of the energy falling in a crash and thereby dampens the impact shock.
- the invention has for its object to provide a fall arrester, which snaps securely in a crash and in which the lock can not solve by a possible pendulum motion of the person secured it.
- this object is achieved in that the connecting element is articulated on the pawl.
- any oscillations of a person hanging on the connecting element are not or only to a limited extent transferred to the pawl, so that they can not be released from their locked state.
- the connecting element may also be formed as a damping element.
- the connecting element is a damping element with a non-rectilinear shape.
- the damping element In a crash, the damping element is deformed by the falling energy in a more rectilinear shape, whereby the impact shock is attenuated.
- the damping element may for example have a U-shape, wherein the end of the one U-leg is articulated to the pawl, while the other end of the U-leg has an eyelet on which the person to be secured can hang with the safety belt. If the fall arrester locks in the event of a crash in the rail, the U-shaped damping element is stretched and bent into a straight shape, which dampens the impact force.
- the damping element consists of a single or multiple folded or rolled flat steel.
- the impact force can be limited in its strength. In the event of a fall, a maximum of 6 kN may be applied to the person.
- the flat steel has a cross-section of 8 x 10.5 mm - material steel 1.4301.
- the pawl is articulated at one end, its upper end, in the body of the fall arrester. Its other end, the lower end, is designed as a ratchet tooth.
- the pawl is biased by a spring, so that the ratchet tooth is pressed against the catching pawls in the back of the guide rail.
- the connecting element is articulated on the pawl, preferably in the normal state, that is, as long as no crash occurs, prevents a rotational movement of the connecting element relative to the pawl.
- This can for example take place in that on the connecting element protrudes a spike, which lies under a protruding from the pawl finger and is pulled out only by the forces occurring during a crash under the finger, which then releases the connecting element for rotation on the pawl becomes.
- the secured person climbs up or down a ladder, so the fall arrester hangs on the safety belt and the eyelet in the connecting element or the other connection point is chosen so that the spring force is then overcome by the weight of the hanging on the safety belt fall arrester, so that the pawl is pivoted back into the fall arrester.
- the torque exerted by the spring bias on the pawl is thus smaller than the torque generated by the weight of the fall arrester when the fall arrester is held on the eyelet.
- the point at which the connecting element is articulated to the pawl is chosen so that the torque generated by the weight of a person hanging on the connecting element acts in the same direction as the spring preload and the pawl additionally acts against the Snap catch presses.
- the arrangement of the pivot points and the length of the lever arms is also preferably chosen so that the pawl is retracted from the locked position even when the user leans away from the ladder or guide rail (back pull), so that the safety belt is approximately horizontal runs.
- the fall arrester is unlocked when the connecting line between the pivot point of the pawl and the stop point, which is the eyelet in the connecting element, forms an angle of a few degrees with the horizontal. This is useful to prevent locking of the fall arrester when descending.
- the person brings in a force of up to about 600 N in the connecting means.
- the point of rotation at which the connecting element is articulated to the pawl may be e.g. lie approximately in the middle between the pivot point of the pawl and the eye of the connecting element, wherein the connecting line of these three points is inclined by about 5 ° from the horizontal down when the fall arrester runs in a vert ical guide rail and the pawl is retracted.
- the blocking can be omitted, in which case, however, only a return with back-pull is possible.
- a torque is exerted on the pawl via the connecting element, which overcomes the torque generated by the spring preload.
- ascending a back pull is not necessary because the pawl is chamfered so that the catch pegs can be run over.
- the connecting element is designed as a damping element, which deforms in a crash.
- the geometric arrangement of pivot pin of the pawl and eyelet for the carabiner of the safety belt is in itself optimal and locks the fall arrester in a crash very quickly and safely in the guide rail. Due to the fall, however, the damping element is bent gooseneck-shaped downward, so that the geometric leverage (larger lever arm) change (worsen) so that the pawl very easily (with little horizontal pull) can be unlocked again.
- Fig. 1 the fall arrester obliquely from below;
- Fig. 2 the fall arrester, inserted in a guide rail, obliquely from above, wherein the guide rail is cut open;
- FIG. 3 shows a vertical section of the fall arrester in the unlocked position
- FIG. FIG. 4 shows the fall arrester of FIG. 3 in horizontal section
- FIG. FIG. 5 shows the fall arrester of FIG. 3 in the locked position
- FIG. Fig. 6, the fall arrester of Figure 3 in the locked position with open
- the fall arrester 10 is guided in a guide rail 12.
- the guide rail 12 is normally arranged vertically.
- the guide rail has the C-profile known from EP-AO 168 021, which is open towards the front, ie towards the user, the opening edges of the C-profile serving as guide flanges 14.
- catch latches 16 are pushed out into the interior of the guide rail.
- the fall arrester 10 has an overall elongated, extending in the direction of the guide rail body 20 with a rotatably mounted therein pawl 18.
- two pairs of rollers 22, 24 are provided.
- the inner roller pair 22 runs on the inside of the guide flanges 14, while the outer roller pair 24 runs on the outside of the guide flange 14.
- the rollers 22, 24 are mounted on stub axles which are rigidly secured to the body 20.
- the inner rollers 22 maintain a distance from the outer rollers 24 that is slightly greater than the material thickness of the guide flanges 14.
- two similar pairs of rollers 26, 28 are provided, with the inner roller pair 26 again running on the inside of the guide flanges 24, while the outer pair of rollers 28 on the outside of the guide flange 14 runs. Between the two inner roller pairs 22 and 26, a further inner pair of rollers 29 is still provided.
- the body 20 of the fall arrester 10 has a slot-shaped opening 30 in which the pawl 18 is rotatably mounted on a pin 32.
- a short piece 31 is closed.
- the tooth 34 of the pawl 18 protrudes from the fall arrester 10 so far into the interior of the C-profile of the guide rail in that it abuts against the back of the rail inwardly projecting catching latches 16.
- the pin 32 is located in the upper region of the pawl.
- the pawl 18 is under the action of a compression spring 36 which presses against the pawl 18 above the journal bearing, so that the tooth 34 protrudes as far as possible.
- a compression spring 36 which presses against the pawl 18 above the journal bearing, so that the tooth 34 protrudes as far as possible.
- a damping element 40 is articulated on the side facing the user and slightly below the pin 32.
- the damping element 40 acts as a connecting element and has an eyelet 42 to which a safety belt or other safety harness of the user can be hung.
- the pawl is recessed near the pin 32 on both sides approximately semicircular at 44, so that in this area the material thickness of Pawl 18 is about halved.
- the damping element 40 is generally U-shaped, and the end of the one U-leg is cut, and this notch is seated on the pawl 18 in the region of lesser strength.
- a pivot pin 46 the damping element 40 is attached to the pawl 18.
- the shape of the recesses 44 and the shape of the end of the first U-leg are coordinated so that the damping element 40 has a pivoting range of about 45E from the horizontal down.
- the pawl 18 is first pressed by the spring bias in the position shown in Figure 5, in which the pawl 18 engages a catch catch 16.
- the impact force is introduced via the attached to the eyelet 42 seat belt in the damping element 40.
- the damping element 40 is bent from its original U-shape in a substantially elongated shape. This dampens the impact force. Since the spike 50 is no longer held by the finger 52, the damping element 40 can pivot freely on the pawl 18.
- the second U-leg is first pulled down, as shown in Figure 6.
- An elastic rebound of the system can cause the damping element 40 to snap upwards (FIG. 7). Due to the fact that the damping element 40 is no longer rigidly connected to the pawl 18 in its bent-up form, but is only hinged to it, such movement of the damping element 40 can not cause the pawl 18 to disengage from the catch catch 16.
