- Peut avoir des parties creuses afin que les ergots puissent s'y bloquer.
- Peut avoir un trou au centre pour permettre l'évacuation de l'eau et son empilement sur un axe.
- Peut avoir une indication sur ses caractéristiques techniques..
- Peut avoir une couleur permettant à son utilisateur de l'identifier facilement.
- Peut avoir un signe, nom, etc. permettant à son possesseur de l'identifier.
- Peut avoir une surface anti-dérapante.
- Peut avoir un classement au feu suivant les normes en vigueur.
- Peut être fabriquée en matière naturelle ou synthétique..
- Peut être fabriquée à partir de matières naturelles ou synthétiques associées ou transformées.
- Peut être fabriquée par moulage, injection ou tout autre moyen industriel permettant de dupliquer une forme.
Selon d'autres caractéristiques :
- La forme géométrique du plan supérieur de la cale, disposé au moins partiellement, en relief; forme des ergots répartis ou une nervure continue répartis au moins sur la périphérie de la zone centrale.
- Le plan supérieur de la cale, situé sur la zone centrale est constitué d'un décaissement formant réservation.
- La surface inférieure des parties creuses complémentaires des parties en relief, prévues sur la face supérieure de sorte à permettre un empilement de cales sur une hauteur souhaitée, et un maintien entre elles par emboîtement mâle/femelle de parties en relief et de parties creuses.
- La surface inférieure des éléments en creux répartis sur toute sa surface selon un maillage régulier correspondant au maillage des éléments supérieurs en relief.
- Elle comporte en périphérie, sur le plan supérieur, des éléments en relief disposés en dehors de la zone centrale, disposés selon le maillage des éléments en évidements de la partie inférieure, de sorte à permettre un emboîtement d'une cale en appui reparti au moins sur 2 cales inférieures afin de répartir la charge sur une plus grande surface d'appui.
- Les dimensions des formes géométriques en relief prévues sur le plan supérieur de la cale, soient égales aux dimensions des éléments en creux prévus sous la surface inférieure moins un jeu de fonctionnement entre deux cales.
- Le bord de la cale sur chacun de ses cotés est espacé de l'axe des ergots périphérique d'une distance inférieure à la demi largeur entre lignes d'axe d'ergots des parties en creux adjacentes de sorte à définir un jeu de fonctionnement entre deux cales supportant en partie supérieure de façon répartie une troisième cale..Elle comporte un trou au moins dans la zone centrale d'un diamètre tel à permettre l'évacuation de l'eau de pluie ou aune, et l'enfilement d'un axe notamment de support pour le rangement
