Description

OUTER WALL OF BUILDING AND METAL HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE FOR USE
THEREIN
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The invention relates to an outer wall of a building, comprising a metal cell structure, an insulator structure located against one side of the cell structure, and exterior cladding located on the other side of the insulator structure. The invention also relates to a metal cell structure for use in an outer wall of a building.
[0002] A typical outer wall or outer wall element of the above- mentioned type comprises a cell structure which acts as a load-bearing structure or a wall frame, is welded together from metal plates and typically comprises a profile panel arranged between two even surface panels, whereby cavities are formed between the surface panels and the profile panel, stiffening the structure and acting as a space, along which wiring or piping may be laid. Against the other surface panel of the cell structure, on the side of the wall facing outwards, insulator elements are fastened, which in this wall structure typically also comprise a wind-protective panel integrated thereto. The insulator elements are usually fastened to the surface of the cell structure by screws. On the surface of the cell structure, support elements of the exterior cladding, extending through the insulator elements, are fastened e.g. by welding or with screws. Fastening beams or the like for the cladding are usually mounted on these support elements in order to mount the exterior cladding.
[0003] When the outer wall includes windows, the edges of openings made for the windows must then also be provided with fastening surfaces or structures for mounting the window frames. For this purpose, separate fastening panels or supports, to which the window frames may be screwed tightly, must be fastened by welding, for example.
[0004] A prior art disadvantage is that it is often cumbersome, complex and time-consuming to fasten different structural elements to one another in a manner described above, which naturally also increases building costs at the same time. In addition, many fasteners used today form a heat bridge in the structure.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] It is thus an object of the invention to improve the above- described outer wall and the associated cell structure in such a manner that the above disadvantages can be eliminated. This object is achieved by an outer wall and a cell structure according to the invention, which are mainly characterized in that the cell structure is provided with bendable fastening elements forming an integral structure with the cell structure and intended for fastening other structural elements to be fastened to the cell structure.
[0006] Typically, the cell structure may comprise two surface panels and a profile panel between them. In this case, the panel that is intended to be located preferably on the side of the insulator structure is provided with spikes that can be bent outwards from the panel in order to fasten the insulator structure. The insulator elements may now be mounted in their places in a simple manner by pushing, whereby the spikes are inserted into the insulator elements, holding them firmly in their places. Together with these bendable spikes or independently thereof, this same panel may be provided with support protrusions which may be bent outwards from the panel and which extend through the insulator structure in order to fasten the exterior cladding. The bendable support protrusion may be provided with thermo holes or cuts, by which the protrusion may be stretched into a netlike protrusion with a poor thermal conductivity.
[0007] To fasten the window frames, an above-described panel of the cell structure may be provided with a bendable frame protrusion, to which the frame may be screwed. This frame protrusion preferably also includes thermo holes or cuts, by which the protrusion is stretched into a netlike protrusion.
[0008] The invention is thus simply based on the idea of using the material of the cell structure itself for fastening other structural elements to be fastened thereto. The whole process, including the formation of thermo holes and cuts, may be carried out simply by laser cutting, for instance. These fastening means may then be made ready for use and mounted in suitable positions simply by bending or stretching.
LIST OF FIGURES
[0009] In the following, the invention will be explained in greater detail in association with the preferred embodiments and with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which
Figure 1 shows a cross section of an outer wall of a building according to the invention; Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a cell structure according to the invention;
Figure 3 shows a frame protrusion of the cell structure in an un- bendable state;
Figure 4 shows the frame protrusion of Figure 3 in a bent position;
Figure 5 shows thermo holes provided in the frame protrusion; and
Figure 6 shows the frame protrusion of Figure 5 in a stretched position and provided with thermo holes.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] With reference to Figure 1 , an outer wall of a building shown therein comprises a cell structure 1 which acts as a load-bearing or stiffening structure or a wall frame, is welded together from metal plates and typically comprises a profile panel 4 arranged between two even surface panels 2 and 3, whereby cavities 5 are formed between the surface panels 2, 3 and the profile panel 4, stiffening the structure and acting as a space, along which wiring or piping may be laid. The cell structure may also be manufactured by gluing or mechanical fasteners. Against the second surface panel 3 of the cell structure 1 , on the side of the wall facing outwards there is an insulator structure, i.e. insulator elements 6, which in this wall structure typically also comprise a wind- protective panel 7 integrated thereto. To the first surface panel 2 on the side of the wall facing inwards, if required, a support or burglary prevention panel 8 strengthening the structure may be fastened, which panel may simultaneously also constitute a ready-made interior lining. On the side of the insulator structure 6 facing outwards, the outer wall also comprises exterior cladding 9 which is a suitable air gap away from the outer wall and fastened to the cell structure in a manner described in the following.
[0011] With reference to Figure 2, the cell structure 1 is provided with bendable fastening elements which form an integral structure with the cell structure and are intended for fastening structural elements to be fastened to the cell structure 1.
[0012] The surface panel 3 on the side of the insulator structure 6 is provided with spikes 10 or the like that can be bent outwards from the panel for fastening the insulator structure 6. The shape of these spikes 10 is cut to the surface panel 3 by laser cutting, for instance, and after the cutting the spikes 10 are bent out, whereby the insulator structure 6 may be mounted in them simply by pushing.
[0013] In addition, the same surface panel 3 is provided with larger support protrusions 11 which may be bent out from the panel and are intended to extend through the insulator structure for fastening the exterior cladding 9. While these support protrusions 11 are cut, thermo holes or cuts 12 are simultaneously cut in them, by which the support protrusion 11 is stretched into a netlike protrusion. Fastening beams 13 or the like may then be fastened to these protrusions for the final mounting of the exterior cladding 8.
[0014] Some of the spikes 10 and support protrusions 11 shown in Figure 2 are shown in a bent position and some are still in an unbendable (and unstretchable) state.
[0015] The outer walls may naturally also comprise windows, wherefore window frames must be fastened to the outer wall. For this purpose and also with reference to Figures 3 to 6, one panel of the cell structure, most preferably the surface panel 2 inside the building, comprises a bendable frame protrusion 14 for fastening a window frame 15. Corresponding to the support protrusion 11 , the frame protrusion 14 is provided with thermo holes or cuts 16, by which the protrusion is stretched into a netlike protrusion. After the frame protrusion 14 has been stretched and bent, the window frame 15 may be mounted therein with screws 17.
[0016] Separate vapour barriers are not required in this outer wall structure, because no perforations are made in the inner surface panel 2 of the cell structure 1 in the area of the actual wall.
[0017] When the outer wall solution of the invention is used, it must also be noted that each protrusion system 10, 11 and 14 described above may be used independently of the other protrusion system. According to each situation, the cell structure 1 may thus be provided with one or more above- mentioned protrusion systems. Consequently, if the wall does not comprise windows, for example, no frame protrusions 14 are naturally needed. Similarly, there may be situations where only one of the protrusion systems 10 or 11 is needed.
[0018] The above description of the invention is only intended to illustrate the basic idea of the invention. A person skilled in the art may, however, implement the basic idea of the invention and the details thereof in various alternative ways within the scope of the appended claims. Thus, the inven- tion may also comprise only one profile panel and a support panel (such as a gypsum board) to be fastened thereto. Thus, a half-cell structure is provided.
