Claims (9)

  1. Method for producing firelighter bodies consisting of a rope, twisted from wood wool, which is immersed in wax, in particular paraffin, in a wax bath and after cooling is separated into pieces to form the firelighter bodies, characterised in that the rope is continuously drawn through the wax bath and subsequent thereto is continuously cooled before the firelighter bodies are separated from the rope prior to the final solidification of the absorbed wax.
  2. Method as claimed in Claim 1, characterised in that the rope is drawn through a wax bath having a melting temperature of 50 to 60°C.
  3. Method as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the rope is cooled to a separating temperature of 25 to 35°C, in particular 25 to 30°C before the firelighter bodies are separated.
  4. Method as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that at least two ropes are continuously drawn through a common wax bath and are processed to form firelighter bodies.
  5. Method as claimed in Claim 4, characterised in that the ropes are separated into firelighter bodies in a common separating device.
  6. Firelighter body, produced in accordance with a method as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 5, consisting of rope pieces twisted from wood wool and immersed in wax, in particular paraffin, characterised in that the wax density is higher in the outer region of the rope pieces than in the inner region of the rope pieces.
  7. Firelighter body as claimed in Claim 6, characterised in that the wax is a hard paraffin having a melting point between 50 and 58°C, in particular between 52 and 56°C.
  8. Firelighter body as claimed in Claim 6 or 7, characterised in that the rope pieces have a wax content of between 50 and 70 vol.%.
  9. Firelighter body as claimed in any one of Claims 6 to 8, characterised in that the rope pieces have a diameter of 20 to 30 ins and a length of 30 to 70 mm.
