Außerdem ist nicht sicherge- stellt, dass die ermittelten Daten den tatsächlichen Abstand widerspiegeln, da Ungenauigkeiten, insbesondere aufgrund von Längendifferenzen zwischen rechter und linker Schiene sowie Gleisbögen, mittels Bandmaß oder Laufrad kaum vermeidbar sind. Bei der gleisgeometrischen Vermessung werden Spezialis- ten benötigt, die ihrerseits auf Vermessungsdaten des Gleis¬ baus und auf die Bereitstellung von Festpunkten aus einem öffentlichen Netz angewiesen sind.
