Dadurch wird das Stickgut jedoch noch nicht vollständig eingespannt, sondern es wird positioniert gehalten. Dies ist hilfreich für eine nachfolgende genaue Positionierung des Stickguts innerhalb des Stickrahmens 1. Alternativ kann der gleiche Effekt dadurch erreicht werden, dass am Drehknopf 33 etwas gedreht wird. Durch das Drehen des Drehknopfs 33 verschiebt das Ritzel 41, welches mit der Zahnstange 17 kämmt, das untere Ende 13 des äusseren Spannrahmens 3 gegen das obere Ende 15. Mit anderen Worten: Der Aussenrahmen 3 zieht sich zusammen und legt sich satt auf den Stickgutgrund und die Peripherie des Innenrahmens 5 an. Nach erfolgter definitiver Positionierung des Stickguts wird am Drehknopf 33 weiter gedreht und dadurch die Spannung erhöht. Beim Drehen des Drehknopfs 33 im Uhrzeigersinn wird ein leises Klick-Geräusch hörbar. Dies wird von den beiden Profilen 55 des Freilaufs 45 verursacht. Da der Freilauf 45 formschlüssig mit dem Aussenrahmen 3 über den Mehrkantwellenstummel 61 verbunden ist, kann sich letzterer nicht drehen, weshalb die Zähne 57 am Profil 55 an der zweiten Innenverzahnung 59 überspringen. Ein selbständiges Lösen des Drehknopfs 33 und somit das Entspannen des Aussenrahmens 3 wird jedoch verhindert. Damit keine Überbelastung des Drehknopfs 33 und anderer Teile erfolgen kann, wenn die maximal mögliche Spannung des Aussenrahmens 3 auf den Innenrahmen 5 erreicht ist, so beginnen die Rätschenarme 39 an der ersten Innenverzahnung 35 zu springen.
