Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for the return and cooling of exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, in particular a diesel engine of a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1 - known from DE 10 2004 042 454 A1 of the applicant.
- EGR exhaust gas recirculation
- DE 10 2004 042 454 A1 of the applicant wherein in an exhaust gas recirculation line (EGR line) an exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR valve) and an exhaust gas heat exchanger or exhaust gas cooler are arranged.
- the internal combustion engine is a diesel engine which causes soot particles in the exhaust gas.
- DOC diesel oxidation catalyst
- HC hydrocarbons
- the oxidation catalyst is partly also integrated into the exhaust gas cooler, in such a way that the oxidation-catalytic coating in the diffuser (intake Stutzen) of the exhaust gas cooler and / or on the inner walls of the exhaust pipes is arranged.
- a similar exhaust gas recirculation system for a diesel engine was known from DE 94 21 145 U1, wherein in an EGR line also an oxidation catalyst and an exhaust gas cooler are arranged behind one another or integrated with each other. By an oxidation catalysis of the hydrocarbons contained in the diesel exhaust, a sticking of the exhaust gas cooler with soot particles is avoided.
- EP 1 203 148 B1 has disclosed an EGR system for a diesel engine, wherein an oxidation catalytic converter and a soot filter are arranged in an exhaust gas line downstream of an exhaust gas turbine. Downstream of the oxidation catalyst, but upstream of the soot filter branches off an EGR line, in which an exhaust gas cooler and downstream of the exhaust gas cooler, an EGR valve is arranged. The recirculated exhaust gas is fed into an intake pipe and fed to the diesel engine via a first intercooler, a compressor and a second intercooler.
- a disadvantage of the known EGR systems is that the EGR valve itself is not optimally protected against contamination, in particular soot deposition.
- the oxidation catalytic converter is arranged upstream of the EGR valve in the flow direction of the exhaust gas, in particular directly in front of the EGR valve.
- the oxidation catalytic converter can either be located in the exhaust gas line in front of or behind an exhaust gas turbine or arranged in the EGR line.
- the EGR valve is located in the flow direction in front of the exhaust gas cooler, ie on its "hot" side .
- the EGR valve is arranged directly in front of the exhaust gas heat exchanger, by means of which both the EGR valve and the exhaust gas cooler are in front of one another Soot deposit protected.
- the oxidation catalyst is integrated into the EGR valve.
- the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) preferably consists of a noble metal coating, which is applied to a carrier.
- the noble metal is preferably platinum.
- the carrier body of the oxidation catalyst is integrated tor together with the Oxidationskatalysa-, in particular in the inlet of the EGR valve.
- the carrier body is in particular designed such that it fills the entire cross section of the inlet.
- the carrier body is in particular cylindrical, conical, etc. formed.
- the space is optimally utilized and increases the surface of the oxidation catalyst in an advantageous manner.
- the oxidation catalyst is integrated in particular as a coating directly in the inlet of the EGR valve.
- this saves in particular the carrier material.
- an EGR valve When integrated into the EGR valve, the inner wall of the EGR valve, which is acted upon by the exhaust gas, serves as a carrier for the oxidation-catalytic coating.
- An EGR valve consists inter alia of a diffuser, ie an inlet nozzle, a valve housing and a valve closure member, for. B. a valve disk - these parts are covered by the exhaust gas and can therefore be coated oxidation catalysed, thereby preventing condense of hydrocarbons contained in the exhaust gas and thus sticking of soot particles on the walls of the EGR Valve is prevented.
- an additional Oxidati- onskatalysator could be omitted in the EGR line or dimensioned correspondingly smaller.
- the EGR valve with oxidation catalytic coating can be integrated with the exhaust gas cooler to form a structural unit, as is known per se from DE 197 50 588 A1 of the Applicant. Again, the EGR valve is located on the "hot" side of the exhaust gas cooler.
- the exhaust gas cooler may additionally have a bypass for the exhaust gas, which is controlled by a bypass valve - such an exhaust gas heat exchanger with internal bypass is known for example from DE 102 03 003 A1.
- the EGR valve, the bypass valve, the oxidation catalyst and the exhaust gas heat exchanger are integrally formed. In an advantageous manner, in particular the installation space is thereby reduced.
- the single FIGURE shows a schematic illustration of an exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR system) 1 for an internal combustion engine designed as a diesel engine 2.
- the diesel engine 2 has an exhaust pipe 3, in which an exhaust gas turbine 4 is arranged, which drives a compressor 5.
- the diesel engine 2 is associated with a suction line 6, in which the compressor 5 and a charge air cooler 7 are arranged.
- An exhaust gas recirculation line (EGR line) 8 is switched on between the exhaust line 3 and the intake line 6, the exhaust gas being taken off at a branching point 9 in the flow direction upstream of the exhaust gas turbine 4 and fed to the intake line 6 at a feed point 10.
- an oxidation catalytic converter 11 In the EGR line 8, an oxidation catalytic converter 11, an exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR valve) 12 and an exhaust gas cooler 13 are arranged in succession in the flow direction of the exhaust gas.
- the EGR valve 12 is thus disposed on the "hot" side of exhaust gas cooler 13, and the oxidation catalyst 11 for converting hydrocarbons (HC) contained in the diesel exhaust gas is disposed upstream of EGR valve 12.
- the oxidation catalyst 11 is known from the aforementioned prior art: it consists of a ceramic or metallic carrier (honeycomb body) which is provided with an oxidation-catalytic coating, in particular platinum.
- the EGR valve 12 is also known from the prior art and may be designed so that it controls only the exhaust gas recirculation amount and z. B. is designed as a poppet valve. Alternatively, the EGR valve can also - which is not shown - be designed as a so-called combination valve with two functions. Such a valve regulates the exhaust gas recirculation amount. In addition, such a valve takes over the switching function between cooling and bypass operation in an exhaust gas heat exchanger with bypass.
- Such a combination valve is known, for example, from unpublished DE102005041146, from unpublished DE102005041149 and from unpublished DE102005041150, the entire contents of which are hereby expressly disclosed.
- the oxidation catalyst 11 can be integrated into the EGR valve 12.
- the oxidation-catalytic coating is arranged on the inner wall of the EGR valve, that is, for example, on the inner wall of a diffuser or a valve housing or a valve disk.
- the upstream oxidation catalyst can be completely or partially dispensed with, at the same time the EGR valve is protected from contamination.
- the EGR valve 12 may be integrated with the exhaust gas cooler 13 to form a structural unit, wherein the EGR valve has its upstream position to the exhaust gas cooler, i. H. maintains on its "hotter" side.
