  1. An in-wall cistern (1) for a toilet bowl or the like, comprising a cistern body (1.1) and a cistern cover (2) produced separately, said cistern body comprising a bottom as well as wall sections formed integrally and extending upwards and defining a container top edge,
    characterized in that the wall sections of the cistern body are formed in steps so that the cistern body is expanded in steps from its bottom towards its container top edge, and a second cistern body (1.1) formed in the same manner can be inserted into the cistern body (1.1) with at least one third of its height.
  2. The in-wall cistern according to claim 1,
    characterized in that an inspection opening (1.15) is formed in the top area of the front wall (1.12) of the cistern body (1.1).
  3. The in-wall cistern according to claim 2,
    characterized in that the inspection opening (1.15) is surrounded by a frame (1.16) projecting from the front of the cistern body (1.1), said frame being provided with locking elements (1.17) for attaching an operating plate or an inspection chamber.
  4. The in-wall cistern according to one of claims 1 to 3,
    characterized in that the cistern cover (2) is connectable or connected to the cistern body (1.1) by means of a clip connection.
  5. The in-wall cistern according to claim 4,
    characterized in that the clip connection is in the form of a non-detachable clip connection.
  6. The in-wall cistern according to claim 4 or 5,
    characterized in that the clip connection is in the form of a clip connection invisible from the outside.
  7. The in-wall cistern according to one of claims 1 to 6,
    characterized in that the cistern body (1.1) comprises a bulge (1.19) in its front.
  8. The in-wall cistern according to claim 7,
    characterized in that the bulge (1.19) is created by front wall sections (1.20) extending at a slanted angle towards the front.
  9. The in-wall cistern according to one of claims 1 to 8,
    characterized in that the cistern cover (2) comprises a channel (2.85) extending parallel to the front and substantially over the entire width of the in-wall cistern.
  10. The in-wall cistern according to one of claims 1 to 9,
    characterized in that the top edge (1.26) of the rear wall (1.13) of the cistern body (1.1) is at a position lower than the top edge (1.27) of the front wall (1.12) of the cistern body (1.1).
  11. The in-wall cistern according to one of claims 1 to 10,
    characterized in that in the top area of at least one side wall (1.23) of the cistern body an opening (1.22) for receiving a water supply (3) is formed, and in that in the top of the cistern cover (2) at least one further opening for receiving the water supply (3) is formed.
  12. The in-wall cistern according to claim 11,
    characterized in that said at least one opening for receiving a water supply (3) formed in the cistern cover (2) is provided with a detachable cover (2.6).
