Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the packaging sector and more particularly relates to a cardboard box or any other semi-rigid material whose volume may vary depending on its content.
  • the present invention proposes to overcome this disadvantage with a cardboard box whose volume may vary with the object transported.
  • a crate for the packaging of objects comprising a first belt formed of four vertical panels and terminated by a return band, each vertical panel being extended by two opposite side flaps intended to form once folded at right angles a bottom and a first cap for said box, characterized in that at least two of said side flaps comprise at a fold line parallel to their outer edge a cutout for detaching a tab of said flap and in that it comprises in addition a second belt formed of four other vertical panels and terminated by another return band, each vertical panel being extended by a single other side flap for forming a second cap for said box, two of said other side flaps having at least one opening or notch for receiving said tabs.
  • the initial volume of the box corresponds precisely to the dimensions of the object that it contains and the cost of the initial transport is optimized, the addition of the additional part of coverage leading to a box having the final volume desired and having improved stiffness due to the presence of the tongues.
  • two tabs are formed on the two lateral flaps of smaller width intended to form said first cap, these two tabs being intended to cooperate with two openings made at two fold lines separating adjacent vertical panels the two side flaps of smaller width to form said second cap.
  • Two other tongues are formed on each of the two lateral flaps of greater width intended to form said first cap, these four other tongues being intended to cooperate in pairs with four notches made at two opposite sides of the two side flaps of smaller width to form said second cap.
  • said side flaps forming the first cap of the body have a height greater than said opposite side flaps forming the fund of the fund.
  • the invention also relates to a blank of cardboard or any other semi-rigid material for the manufacture of a aforesaid box comprising a belt formed of four vertical panels and terminated by a return band, each vertical panel being extended by a single side flap , two of said side flaps having a dimension adapted to, once folded, form a cap for the vertical panel belt, the other two of said side flaps each having an opening on their respective line of folding with the adjacent vertical panel.
  • said two other side flaps further comprise notches made at two opposite sides of these side flaps.
  • the invention is based on the addition of an additional portion of cover to a basic structure of a cardboard box for packaging various objects.
  • the figure 1 shows the blank of this basic structure which shows the cutouts (strong lines) and the folds (dashed lines) necessary for its assembly.
  • This blank is substantially like that of a standard cardboard box with the exception of specific bends and cuts made on the four side flaps of the cap of this box.
  • the parallelepipedic box made of cardboard or any other semi-rigid material (made of PVC for example), comprises a belt formed of four vertical panels 10, 12, 14, 16, and terminated by a return band 18, each panel being extended, over almost its entire width (and not over its entire width to allow folding given the thickness of the material), by two opposite side flaps 10A, 10B; 12A, 12B; 14A, 14B; 16A, 16B for forming a bottom and a first cap for the body.
  • the height of each of the bottom flaps is conventionally such that once folded at right angles, the lateral flaps 10A, 14A corresponding to longitudinal vertical panels (that is to say those of greater width 10, 14) can form a complete bottom with contiguous edges.
  • each of the flaps of the cap is preferably larger so that once folded at right angles, the side flaps 10B, 12B, 14B, 16B corresponding to both longitudinal panels 10, 14 that transverse 12, 16, can form a complete cap whose edges are no longer joined but overlap.
  • the level of recovery will depend on the chosen height which also defines the additional storage volume.
  • each of these side flaps comprises a fold line 10C, 12C, 14C, 16C parallel to the outer edge of the flap 100, 120, 140, 160 and remote from the fold line separating this flap from the adjacent vertical panel of a distance preferably equal to the height of each of the opposite flaps 10A, 12A, 14A, 16A forming the bottom of the box.
  • At least two of the lateral flaps extending the transverse panels (that is to say those of smaller width) 12, 16 or the longitudinal panels (that is to say those of more large width) 10, 14 each comprise at least one cutout 12D, 16D (for the transverse flaps) 10D, 10D '; 14D, 14D '(for the flaps longitudinal) made on the fold line 10C, 12C, 14C, 16C and for detaching a tab 10E, 10E ', 12E, 14E, 14E', 16E of this flap whose interest will appear in the following reading.
  • Handles (not shown) glued to two opposite longitudinal or transverse flaps may further be provided to allow the passage of links or more simply for easy manual gripping of the body.
  • the figure 2 shows the blank of the additional portion of coverage specific to the invention.
  • This part also comprises a belt formed of four vertical panels 20, 22, 24, 26, and terminated by a return band 28.
  • this part does not comprise bottom flaps, each vertical panel being extended, over any its width (of course as previously to the thickness of the material), only by a single side flap 20A, 22A, 24A, 26A, intended to form a second cap for the body.
  • the dimensions of this second belt are the same (to the thickness of the material) as those of the belt of the basic structure.
  • the two other lateral flaps 22A, 26A corresponding to the transverse panels 22, 26 each comprise, on the one hand, on the fold line 22B, 26B separating this flap of the adjacent vertical panel 22, 26, an opening 22C, 26C for receiving the tabs 12E, 16E of the side flaps of the base structure and, secondly, on the two opposite sides 22D, 22D '; 26D, 26D 'of these flaps of the notches 22E, 22E'; 26E, 26E 'to receive the tabs 10E, 10E', 14E, 14E '.
  • the side flaps 10B, 12B, 14B, 16B are maintained in the extension of the vertical panels 10, 12, 14, 16 pressed against the second belt stiffening the entire body, especially in case of impact.
  • the Figures 3 to 6 illustrate different stages of the assembly of the body.
  • the basic structure of the crate is first of all constituted, on the first production site, of assembly or shipment, for example in folding at right angles the side flaps 10A, 12A, 14A, 16A and each assembly thus created is itself folded at right angles around the fold lines separating each of the panels 10, 12, 14, 16.
  • the return band 18 is glued on the first panel 10 and the bottom of the box may be constituted in turn by gluing for example the side flaps 10A, 14A on the side flaps 12A, 16A ( figure 3 ).
  • the box can be filled by the object 30 to be shipped and once this object set up and if necessary wedge inside, the two upper side flaps 12B, 16B are folded at right angles and the other two upper side flaps 10B, 14B are in turn, an adhesive tape 32 then closing the box prior to its shipment to the second production site or assembly ( figure 4 ).
  • the box is opened and the four side flaps are then raised in the extension of the vertical panels 10, 12, 14, 16 to add above the first object 30, for example a second object 34 ( figure 5 ).
  • the ends of the side flaps are then folded at right angles along the fold lines 10C, 12C, 14C, 16C with the exception of the tabs 10E, 10E ', 12E, 14E, 14E 16E due to the openings 22C, 26C and notches 22E, 22E '; 26E, 26E 'made in the additional portion of cover can remain in a vertical position in the extension of the panels 10, 12, 14, 16.
  • the additional portion of cover is formed by folding at right angles the side flaps 20A, 22A, 24A, 26A then each set thus created is itself folded at right angles around the fold lines separating each of the vertical panels 20, 22, 24, 26, the return strip 28 being glued on the first panel 20 and the side flaps 20A , 24A being kept joined ( figure 6 ).
  • the figure 7 shows the crate when closed and ready to be shipped with its new cap closed by a new adhesive tape 36.
  • the additional portion of cover has been placed on the base structure and is held in position by the tabs 10E, 10E ', 12E, 14E, 14E ', 16E passing through the openings 22C, 26C, and the notches 22E, 22E'; 26E, 26E ⁇ , the cap resting further on the folded edges of the side flaps 10B, 12B, 14B, 16B of the basic structure.
  • the box as described above thus makes it particularly easy to increase the load volume of this box up to 50%.
  • the positioning tabs are six in number, it is understood that this number can not be limiting and it is quite possible to create additional tabs as it is possible to limit the number for example by having at least two tabs on the two opposite flaps of smaller width.
