  • the intermediate element 130 is manufactured such that this clip 141 is bent to the inside of the intermediate element 130 as shown in fig. 4 in dashed lines.
  • this clip 141 is deflected such that it becomes flush with the wall 133 and its electrodes come into contact with the electrical contacts 22 of the retainer. If the ink cartridge 12 is taken out the clip 141 springs back in the position shown by dashed lines in fig. 16 and, thereby, opens the contact with the electrical contacts 22 of the retainer.
  • the intermediate element includes at least one switch which may interrupt the electrical connection between the memory device 140 and the electrical contacts 22. This switch is operated by the ink cartridge, i.e., closed when inserting an ink cartridge and opened when removing an ink cartridge.
  • the intermediate element is provided with a source of electrical power, for example with a battery, connected to the memory device which may be turned on and off when exchanging the ink cartridge.
  • the intermediate element 130 is manufactured as one piece.
  • an intermediate element is manufactured in two or more pieces which are assembled to form one intermediate element.

  • the intermediate element 170 of fig. 5 to 7 includes a bottom 171 and two front walls 172 and 173.

  • the front wall 172 is provided with a resiliently held clip 181 (similar to the embodiment of fig. 1 to 4 ) which is bent into the inside of the intermediate element 170.
  • This clip 181 holds a memory device 182 which is provided with electrodes which can be brought into contact with electrical contacts 22 of the retainer by inserting the ink cartridge 12 into the intermediate element 170.
  • the intermediate elements of the invention avoid the need to equip the ink cartridge with protruding resilient locking or securing means.
  • Such locking or securing means which are normally protruding from an ink cartridge not only increase the complexity of the ink cartridge but also include the risk of being damaged or destroyed during transport or storage or during inserting or removing so that an ink cartridge could become useless before content of ink is consumed.
  • the intermediate elements according to fig. 1 to 7 are preferably made from plastic material especially by pressure molding.
  • at least the intermediate element 80 of fig. 8 and 9 could be made from a resilient metal, especially sheet metal.

Claims (12)

  1. Appareil destiné à maintenir une cartouche d'encre (12) dans un dispositif de retenue (11) d'un appareil d'enregistrement, lequel dispositif de retenue (11) est doté d'un appareil recevant l'encre (14) auquel la cartouche d'encre doit être connectée, l'appareil comprenant un élément intermédiaire (130, 170) qui est manipulé indépendamment de la cartouche d'encre (12), lequel élément intermédiaire (130, 170) est pourvu d'au moins un élément de fixation (136 ; 178) afin d'être monté dans le dispositif de retenue (11) de l'appareil, l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) étant également pourvu d'au moins un élément de retenue (138 ; 179) destiné à retenir la cartouche d'encre (12), caractérisé en ce que
    des contacts électriques (22) sont disposés dans le dispositif de retenue (11) et que l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) maintient une unité de mémoire (140, 182) qui est assignée aux contacts électriques (22) du dispositif de retenue (11).
  2. Appareil selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) est un élément inséré devant être monté de manière fixe dans le dispositif de retenue (11) de l'appareil.
  3. Appareil selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que l'élément de retenue (138, 179) destiné à retenir la cartouche d'encre (12) est conçu et/ou disposé de telle manière que la cartouche d'encre peut être retirée sans libérer l'élément de fixation de l'élément intermédiaire.
  4. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 3, caractérisé en ce que l'élément de fixation (136 ; 178) permettant de fixer l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) est accessible seulement lorsque aucune cartouche d'encre (12) n'est en place.
  5. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 4, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) comprend un dispositif de positionnement (139, 180) destiné à fonctionner avec des contre-éléments du dispositif de retenue pour positionner l'élément intermédiaire.
  6. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 5, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire comprend un adhésif en tant qu'élément de positionnement.
  7. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 6, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire comprend en tant qu'élément de retenue pour la cartouche d'encre au moins un élément de serrage pour retenir la cartouche d'encre par friction.
  8. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 6, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) est pourvu d'au moins un élément de verrouillage (138, 179) destiné à fonctionner en coopération avec un contre-élément de la cartouche d'encre (12).
  9. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 8, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) forme un élément de retenue pour la cartouche d'encre (12) et comprend des éléments de verrouillage et/ou de serrage pour la cartouche d'encre.
  10. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 9, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire forme un élément de retenue standard pour des cartouches d'encre standard.
  11. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 10, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) est pourvu d'un dispositif d'interruption permettant d'interrompre la connexion entre l'unité de mémoire (140, 182) et les contacts électriques (22) de l'élément de retenue, lequel dispositif d'interruption est fermé par l'insertion d'une cartouche d'encre (12), et ouvert par le retrait d'une cartouche d'encre.
  12. Appareil selon l'une des revendications 1 à 11, caractérisé en ce que l'élément intermédiaire (130, 170) est équipé d'une source d'énergie électrique qui peut être connectée à l'unité de mémoire (140, 182).
