Die Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß mit den Merkmalen des unabhängigen Anspruchs 1 gelöst. Dank der stehenden Anordnung der Tabloidseiten auf dem Formzylinder wird der Rücken des herzustellenden Tabloidbuches beim Längsfalzen über den Falztrichter gebildet. Die von einer Abrollung 9 abgewickelte Bahn 10 wird von den Druckwerken 2 pro Formzylinderumdrehung beidseitig mit den auf der Bahn 10 dargestellten Broadsheetseiten 4 bedruckt. Das Druckbild wird vom Formzylinder 2 auf einen Übertragungszylinder und von diesem auf die Bahn 10 übertragen. Im Ausführungsbeispiel arbeiten jeweils zwei Druckwerke 2 im Gummi-Gummi-Prinzip zusammen, wobei die Bahn 10 zwischen die gegeneinander angestellten Übertragungszylinder hindurchgeführt wird. Die so bedruckte Bahn 10 wird mittels zweier Längsschneidvorrichtungen 11 in drei jeweils zwei Broadsheetseiten 4 breite Stränge 12, 13, 14 geschnitten, die über jeweils einen Falztrichter 5 geführt und dabei längs gefalzt werden. Die längs gefalzten Stränge 12, 13, 14 werden aneinander gelegt dem Falzapparat 6 zugeführt. Bei dem Falzapparat 6 handelt es sich um einen 2:3:3-Falzapparat mit einem Messerzylinder 15, einem Punktur-Falzmesserzylinder 16 und einem Falzklappenzylinder 17 mit den genannten Durchmesserverhältnissen. Es könnte sich aber auch beispielsweise um einen 2:5:5-Falzapparat handeln. Im Falzapparat 6 werden die Stränge 12, 13, 14 zu Signaturen geschnitten, die nach Querfalzung das in
Statt mit stehenden Broadsheetseiten 4 ist jeder Formzylinder 3 auch mit stehenden Tabloidseiten (Druckseiten im Tabloidformat) 19 belegbar. Im Einzelnen trägt der Formzylinder 3 dann drei stehende Tabloidseiten 19 in Umfangsrichtung und acht stehende Tabloidseiten 19 in der Längsrichtung. Die mit den stehenden Tabloidseiten 19 bedruckte Bahn 10 wird mittels drei Längsschneidvorrichtungen 11 in vier jeweils zwei Tabloidseiten 19 breite Stränge 21 bis 24 längs geschnitten. Diese Stränge 21 bis 24 werden über jeweils einen Falztrichter 25 geführt und dabei längs gefalzt. Nachfolgend werden die Stränge 21 bis 24 aneinander gelegt und einem Schneidwerk 29 zugeführt. Zuvor kann mittels eines Leimwerkes 30 noch eine Rückenklebung erfolgen, das heißt, die Falzrücken werden verleimt. Das Leimwerk 30 enthält vorteilhaft im Detail nicht dargestellte Einrichtungen, die den Leim streifenförmig auf einzelne Stränge 21 bis 24 auftragen. Im Schneidwerk 29 werden die Stränge 21 bis 24 zu Tabloidbüchern 31 geschnitten. Anschließend werden jeweils vier Tabloidbücher 31 aneinander liegend und gegebenenfalls am Rücken verleimt als ein sechzehn Seiten enthaltendes Tabloidprodukt 32 (

Claims (3)
- A method of operation of a web-fed rotary printing machine having print units (2) for printing on at least one web (10), wherein each print unit (2) contains a forme cylinder (3) which can be overlaid in the circumferential direction (U) and in the longitudinal direction (L) with: U=2 and L=3, or U=2 and L=4, or U=2 and L=6 broadsheet pages, and the aspect ratio of height (h) to width (b) of the broadsheet pages (4) is 3 to 2, characterised in that instead of being overlaid with the broadsheet pages (4) the forme cylinder is overlaid in each case in the circumferential direction (U) and in the longitudinal direction (L) with U=3 and L=4, or U=3 and L=6, or U=3 and L=8 upright tabloid pages.
