Description

The invention relates to a printing press in which at least one web can be printed with coldset inks and processed into longitudinally and transversely folded books, as well as a method for producing newspapers.

In printing machines, it is known to print a web in a printing tower, a so-called four-high tower, with printing units on both sides with coldset colors. In another printing tower another web with printing units is printed on both sides with heatset inks. Both webs are merged by longitudinal folding by means of formers and processed by means of a folder to longitudinally and transversely folded newspapers. In this way, however, no newspapers and magazines are produced. Most of these presses are two pages wide.

Newspapers and magazines are produced in such a way that the newspaper is produced by means of a printing press. Time-shifted, as so-called pre-production, the book is printed on another printing press, usually on an illustration printing press, from which the magazine to be inserted is produced in a processing device. The magazine is usually attached to the newspaper once a week or monthly and printed during this period. A disadvantage of this mode of production that several expensive printing presses are required.

From the DE 102 38 010 A1 For example, there is known a printing press for making newspapers having at least one unwinding web, coldset inkjet printing units and at least one former and at least one former for processing the web into at least one first longitudinally and transversely folded book. Furthermore, the printing press according to DE 102 38 010 A1 at least one further unwinding for unwinding a further web, heatset printing units for printing the further web with heatset inks, a dryer for drying the further web and at least one further former and a second folder for processing the further web to at least one further longitudinally and transversely folded Book up.

From the EP 1 145 850 A1 is a folding unit of a web-fed printing press, with which on laid books a trimming Obera Rotaschneider can be performed.

It is an object of the invention to provide a printing machine with which the technical complexity for the production of newspapers and magazines can be reduced. There is also a process for making newspapers.

The object is achieved with the features of the independent claims. By simultaneously printing at least one web with heatset inks for the manufacture of magazines parallel to printing one or more webs with coldset inks for the production of newspaper books, the pressure for the production of newspapers with magazine inserted and the printing of magazines can at the same time print newspapers done on a printing machine while reducing the machine cost. With the printing press and the method creates the possibility of the daily publication of magazines in newspapers.

In the Fig. 1 shown printing machine initially contains three unwinds 1, 2, 3, of which in each case a web 4, 5, 6 removable and each a printing tower 7, 8, 9 can be fed. The printing towers 7, 8, 9 each contain eight printing units 10 which process coldset inks.

14 enthalten. From a further unwinding 11, a further web 12 is removable and a printing tower 13 can be fed, the eight heatset processing printing units 14 contains. The printing towers 7, 8, 9 and 13 may also contain fewer than eight printing units 10 and 14, respectively.

The printing machine further comprises a first and a second folding apparatus 15, 16, wherein seen in the web running direction of the first folder 15, two formers 17, 18 and the second folder 16 two former 19, 20 are arranged upstream. The formers 19, 20 of the second folding apparatus 16 are advantageously arranged as so-called balloon funnels over the formers 17, 18 of the first folding apparatus 15. It would also the folding hopper 17, 18 the second folder 16 and the former 19, 20 associated with the first folder 15 be. The number of formers per folder 15, 16 is exemplary. There may be fewer or more formers per folder or other levels of their arrangement may be formed. The printing machine also has a dryer 21 and, not shown, further common for heatset printing facilities, such as cooling unit and silicone plant.

Unter Coldsetfarben werden Druckfarben verstanden, die durch Wegschlagen in den Bedruckstoff undThe printing units 10 of the printing towers 7, 8, 9 work together in pairs, for example, according to the rubber-rubber principle in offset printing, and print the passed between them track 4, 5, 6 on both sides. Likewise, the printing units 14 of the printing tower 13 work together in pairs. Under Coldsetfarben printing inks are understood by the impact in the substrate and

Allow the solvent to evaporate. Heatset inks are printing inks that dry when exposed to heat. The unwound from the unwinding 1 web 4 is printed on both sides four-color printing tower. The printing press is a four-page newspaper page wide rotary press. Accordingly, the form cylinder of the printing units 10 can be equipped with four printing forms arranged side by side, each carrying the image of a standing broadsheet page or arranged on top of two lying Tabloidseiten. The latter is realized in the printing tower 7 and also in the printing towers 8 and 9 and also in the printing units 14 of the printing tower 13. Accordingly, the web 4 is printed in the printing tower 7 with lying to the web running direction 45 tabloid pages 43, as in Fig. 6 shown. Likewise, the web 5 is printed in the printing tower 8 and the web 6 in the printing tower 9. All three webs 4, 5, 6 are superimposed on the formers 17, 18 of the first folding apparatus 15 fed ( Fig. 2 ). The tracks 4, 5, 6 are at the in Fig. 2 longitudinally cut by means of longitudinal cutters and then longitudinally folded over the formers 17, 18 when running. This creates two strands 22, 23, each containing books with 24 tabloid pages. The number of tabloid pages in the books is in Fig. 2 and also in the ones described below FIGS. 3 to 5 indicated with numbers.

The strands 22, 23 are stapled by means of stapling devices 24, 25 (stapling is indicated by dots in Fig. 2 specified) and fed to the first folder 15. The latter cuts the strands into copies and produces a transverse fold therewith, so that a first and a second longitudinally and transversely folded book 26, 27 with 24 tabloid sides each are produced (longitudinal fold is cut open), the second book 27 being in the first book 26. The first and second book 26, 27 are designed via a paddle wheel on a conveyor belt 28 or a transport device. If no stapling takes place, a common book 26 + 27 is created. The first folder 15 includes in a known manner a knife cylinder, a Punktur folding blade and a jaw cylinder. The first and second books 26, 27 represent production, as opposed to pre-production. They are transported by means of the conveyor belt 28 to a processing device 29.

Wenn keine Heftung erfolgt, entsteht ein gemeinsames Buch 32+33.The printing units 14 of the printing tower 13 are equipped in the same way as the printing units 10 with four juxtaposed printing forms, each containing two superimposed tabloid pages. The further web 12 is thus printed when passing through the printing tower 13 with heatset colors with tabloid pages, as in Fig. 6 shown. The further web 12 is then dried during passage through the dryer 21 and subsequently guided over the formers 19, 20 of the second folding apparatus 16, wherein previously by means of cutting devices at the points marked with x longitudinal sections are performed. The strands 30, 31 leaving the formers 19, 20 are fed to the second folder 16 after stapling by means of staplers (not shown). They each contain another book with eight tabloid pages each. In the second folder 16, the strands 30 and 31 are cut into copies, which are provided with a transverse fold. The resulting nesting other books 32, 33 are designed via a paddle wheel on a conveyor belt 34 or a transport device and fed to the processing device 29. If no stapling occurs, a common book 32 + 33 is created.

The further books 32 and 33 are separated in the processing device 29 and processed into a respective magazine 35, 36. Specifically, the further books 32, 33 are subjected to a three-side cut. This cut is trimmed on three sides to the image to remove the white edges. When printing, the white edges are already minimized to achieve a large print area and low waste. The pre-fold is also tight. One strives to obtain the largest possible product, in which the ratio of height to width comes as close as possible to the so-called golden ratio (√2) and that corresponds to the newspaper product, whose height-to-width ratio preferably also approaches the golden ratio. A high print quality and folding accuracy should also help to obtain a good optical magazine impression.

Advantageously, one of the other books 32, 33 is created as production and one as pre-production. For this purpose, the printing tower 13 is simultaneously operated parallel to the printing towers 7, 8 and 9, but with the same or different speed. To achieve a high print quality, the printing tower 13 can be operated at a lower speed. In all cases of application of the invention, the printing units which produce heatset inks can be operated independently or in dependence on the coldset inks printing printing units. The resulting magazines 35, 36 are inserted into the first book 26. Before that, the first and second books 26, 27 in the processing device 29 may be subjected to a one-side cut. This is an approximately 3 mm deep smoothing cut into the prefold-bearing side, removing the sawtooth-like cut from the cutting cylinder. The finished newspapers 37 are output by the processing device 29, for example as a stack 38. A finished newspaper 37 is in Fig. 8 shown, wherein the inserted into the book 26 copies, namely the book 27 and the magazines 35 and 36 are shown pulled apart. The copies printed with coldset colors are marked with CS, the copies printed with heatset colors with HS. The production is marked with P and the preproduction with VP. It is good to see that all products 27, 35, 36 are equally juxtaposed (not nested) in the outer book 26.

The Fig. 3, 4 and 5 show variants for the preparation of first and second books 26, 27 with mutually different page numbers. According to Fig. 3 are fed to the formers 17 and 18 of the first folder 15 webs and partial webs. In detail are opposite Fig. 2 unchanged, the two webs 4 and 5 printed with tabloid sides and led to longitudinal section through the formers 17 and 18. Instead of the web 6, however, only a two-page wide, printed with tabloid pages web 6.1 is guided over the former 17. The strands 22.1 and 23.1 obtained after longitudinal folding contain books with 24 and 16 tabloid sides, respectively. The stapling of strands 22.1 and 23.1 by means of stapling devices 24 and 25 and the further processing in the folder 15 takes place, as respects Fig. 2 described. Likewise, as already described there, the guidance of the further web 12 via the formers 19 and 20 and the further processing in the second folding apparatus 16.

Ebenso erfolgt, wie dort bereits beschrieben, die Führung der weiteren Bahn 12 über die Falztrichter 19 und 20 sowie die Weiterverarbeitung im zweiten Falzapparat 16According to Fig. 4 will be unchanged Fig. 2 fed to the two formers 17 and 18 with tabloid printed sheets 4, 5 and 6. From the former 23 leaving the former, a sub-string 23.2 is guided onto the strand 22 leaving the former 17. The strands now contain books with 20 and 28 tabloid pages and are stapled by means of the staplers 24 and 25 and as in Fig. 2 described, further processed. Likewise, as already described there, the guidance of the further web 12 via the formers 19 and 20 and the further processing in the second folding apparatus 16

According to Fig. 5 the web 4 printed on both sides with tabloid sides is cut into the web strands 39 and 40 by means of a longitudinal cutting device. The web strand 40 is then passed over the turning bars 41 and 42 (parallel turning bars) and placed on the web strand 39. As a result, the number of tabloid pages in the books of the web 22 leaving the former 17 is increased by eight and the books contained in the web 22.2 have 16 tabloid pages.

Instead of lying with tabloid sides 40 (seen in the web running direction 45) printed as in Fig. 6 shown, the webs 4, 5 and 6 can be printed on both sides with standing broadsheet pages 44 seen in the web running direction 45, as in Fig. 7 shown. In this case accounts for in the Fig. 2 to 4 In addition, the longitudinal sections of the webs 4, 5 and 6 in the middle of the formers 17 and 18 omitted Fig. 2 The first and second books 26 and 27 then each have 12 broadsheet pages. For this purpose, the forme cylinders of the printing units 10 printing the webs 4, 5 and 6 are provided with four printing forms arranged side by side, each having a standing broadsheet page.

The invention has been explained using the example of a four-page newspaper pages wide printing machine. The invention is equally applicable to two or six newspaper pages wide printing presses.

The magazines 35, 36 produced do not need to be plugged into the simultaneously parallel printed newspapers. They can also be used for a different purpose, for example distributed. Among magazines and magazine-like products should be understood, the z. B. not reach the usual print quality with magazines.
