Definitions
- Devices for stapling folded signatures or printed products are used in print finishing in different designs and performance data.
- saddle stitchers which separate folded printed products by laying them down, collecting and gathering them, for example, on a transport chain or the like, and then feeding them to a stitching station and then optionally to a further processing unit for edge trimming, a display or the like.
- Such a saddle stitcher is for example in the EP 0 916 514 A1 described.
- the known saddle stitcher has a stitching station in which successive folded sheets are stapled with the aid of a staple, in particular a wire staple.
- a staple in particular a wire staple.
- stapling heads arranged above the gathering chain and so-called “clinchers” arranged between the gathering chains instead of the guide bar, which bend over the free ends of the staples pierced by the foldsheet.
- Stapling stations and stapling heads for this purpose are also known, for example, from the German patent DE 44 44 220 and the German Offenlegungsschrift DE 197 12 876 known.
- the stapling head of the device is either rebuilt or replaced with one whose components are adapted to the geometry of the ring eyebolts or are capable of, from To bend a stitching wire supplied to a wire roll in the geometry of a ring eyelet clip.
- a stapling head is offered for example by the company Hohner Maschinenbau GmbH in 78532 Tuttlingen, Germany under the name Universal 48 / 5S. It can be converted from a stapling head for normal staples to a stapling head for eyelets by replacing individual components such as the former and the clincher.
- the clip When driving ring eyelet clamps into the product to be stapled, the clip is supported in the region of the eyelet by a protruding into the eyelet clip support. This prevents the eyelet from deforming as it is driven through the product to be stapled and the pierced legs of the staple are bent together. This is especially important if a few layers of thin paper are stapled.
- the clip support must be withdrawn in time with her the eyelet area protective support body, so they z. B. on further movement of the stapled product under the stapling head the eyelet releases in time.
- This is usually effected by the comprehensive in the manner of a two-pronged eyelet, the shoulder of the eyelet clip in the product to be stapled pushing driver just before the dead center of his directed to the printed product stitching movement with its lower edge reaches the bevelled end of the staple support, moves along this and pushes it out of the clip.
- the clip is already driven so far that the subsequent bending together of the staple legs has no effect on the ⁇ sengeometrie, since then the paper of the staple product supports the clip.
- the object of the present invention is to ensure that even when stapling consisting of a few or thin layers stapling products with eyelet clips that the ring eyelet as possible not deformed.
- the staple support is only moved out of the region of the eyelet when the legs of the staples passing through the material to be stapled are largely bent over. Therefore, in the course of its backward movement, the clip support expediently only leaves the support region of the ring eyelet when the clip-side end of the driver has already exceeded the lower end of the clip support opposite the sheet-like material.
- the return movement of the clip support is derived from or coupled to the movement of the device surrounding the clip end.
- this need not necessarily be a mechanical coupling.
- the coupling may also be of an electrical or electronic nature in that the staple support is driven by a separate drive and moves the staple support out of the area of the eyelet when the stapling product arranged around the staple ends completes the clinching operation to a large extent has that no more harmful lateral forces occur, which can lead to a bending in the area of the eyelet.
- FIG. 1 illustrated typical saddle stitcher is designated 1 and has a gathering chain 22 as a transport device. Individual folding sheets or folded signatures 16, 18, 20 from the stacks in the folded sheet feeder 10, 12, 14 are deposited on this gathering chain. Under the gathering chain 22, a guide bar 15 is arranged, the upper portion 21 is formed like a blade and whose straight line determines the transport and stapling line.
- the gathering chain 22 forms, together with the guide strip 15, a substantially roof-shaped support on which the collected signatures 30 are transported astride in the direction of the arrow P to a stitching station 24 in which they are stapled with the aid of staples.
- FIG. 2 is one of the stitching heads 26 off FIG. 1 shown in detail in the stitching station 24 of the saddle stitcher 1.
- the stapling head body 105 is fixedly connected to a receiving rail 108, which performs a horizontal cyclical movement, in which the stapling head is brought to the transport speed of stapled, accumulated folded sheet stack 30.
- a slide 19, not shown in this figure, and the drive slide 133 are moved vertically via grooves in two control rails 109 and 110. From the relative movement between the driver slide 133 and slide 19 also the remaining movements in the stapler are derived.
- a cutting box 120 into which the stapling wire 101 is inserted and cut according to the required wire length (FIG. FIG. 3 ).
- the required wire length depends z. B. on the thickness of the stack to staple, as well as the type of wire stitching, so about Ringösenheftung or normal stapling.
- the stapling head is described in terms of the geometry of its components adapted to the Ringösenheftung.
- the stitching wire is clamped to the former 160 by a jaw 166 operated by a wire clamp lever 163.
- the former 160 is cam-controlled to preform the cut stapling piece 101 into a desired staple form with the staple legs open, that is, in the present case, to a ring eyelet.
- This preformed staple is then driven by means of the driver 80 in the stack to staple, as described below with reference to FIGS. 4a to d is explained.
- the lower portion of the driver 80 is fork-shaped and has two prongs 81, the undersides and the inner sides are provided with a groove 82.
- the ring eyelet 3 is detected by the tines 81 and received in the groove 82, wherein the two prongs 81 press the shoulders of the eyelet clip 2 with its underside on the paper sheet stack to be stapled.
- Behind the driver 80 a about the axis 8 in the slider 19 rotatable staple support 6 is arranged.
- the staple support 6 has on both sides in the region of the tines 81 of the driver at an angle to these inclined control and support curves 7, on which the tines slide 81 with their lower sides in the symbolized by the arrow A downward movement along and as indicated by the arrow B in the As the driver descends, move the staple support 6 backward.
- the staple support 6 has a projecting into the interior of the eyelet support body 17, of which the ring eyelet 3 is supported against deformation during driving of the clip 2.
- FIG. 4b shows the lower part of the stapling head during the second half of the downward movement of the slider 19, which has already moved down so far that the attached Umbieger 20 rests on the product to be stapled and the two prongs 81 of the driver 80, the ring eyelet 3 with her legs have driven into the stapling product.
- the bracket 2 is guided just laterally in the region of its legs by the outer surfaces of the clip support 6.
- the driver 80 has almost reached the bottom dead center of the upward / downward movement of the drive slide 133 and, by slipping along the support and control cams 7, has pushed the clip support 6 backwards.
- the lower edges of the prongs 81 are located approximately at the level of the lower surface 61 of the clip support 6, ie the eyelet clip 2 is almost completely driven.
- Below the stack to staple are located in a clincher box, which is not shown here, two pivotable clincher 51 and 52.
- the clinchers 51, 52 have the pierced legs of the eyelet clip so far bent that subsequently until the complete bending only a smaller Bending capacity is required. In the described position, the support body 17 is still within the eyelet and assures them against collapsing due to the still existing bending forces of clinchers 51 and 52.
- the exact time can be brought about by a corresponding shaping of the formed on the tines 81 of the driver 80 control cam 83 and the chamfer 84.
- the eyelet clip 2 is released at a time by the support body 17 of the staple support 6, to which the bending of the staple legs by the clinchers 51, 52 is completed so far that no bending stresses can disturb the shape of the eyelet 3 more.
- a supporting effect of stapling stack is no longer required as a stabilizing element.
- driver 80 still travels a particularly significant path towards its bottom dead center to move the protruding support body 17 out of the area of the eyelet 3. Rather, it is also possible to make the movements of the slide 19, 133 so that the flush of the undersides of driver 80 and bender 20 and staple support 6 is made at the bottom dead center of the driver movement. If then the slider 19 with the bracket support 6 immediately after this time is back on the way up, it is in the course of their upward movement on the slope 84 adjacent pivoted backwards and the support body 17 are the ring eyelet 3 free.
- the pivoting movement of the staple support 6 to provide its own, separate from the movement of the stapling head relative to the stapler or to the driver, separate drive.
- the staple support of the downward movement of the driver slide 133 can be controlled independently, for example, matched to the closing or bending movement of the clincher 51, 52.
- the reciprocating movement of the driver 80 is effected by an eccentric cam 90, which in turn is driven by a motor 92 via a shaft 91.
- the clip support 6 is pivotable about the axis 8, as indicated by the arrow B, and is moved by a second motor 94 via another eccentric cam 93.
- the two motors 92 and 94 are controlled by an electronic control unit 95 which, as indicated by the signal input 99, is synchronized with the movement sequences in the saddle stitcher 1. Furthermore, the control unit 95 is connected via a signal and control line 98 to the clincher box 50, in which the clinchers 51 and 52 and the drives, not shown, for accommodating the staple movement of the clincher are housed.
- the control unit 95 receives via the signal line 98, a control signal at the time at which the clinchers 51, 52 have bent the legs of the clip 2 so far that no harmful transverse forces occur more. This signal serves to control the motor 94, which moves the staple support 6 out of the clamp via the eccentric disc 93.
- the stapler according to the invention can of course be used in many different devices of the print finishing, not only saddle stitchers, but also, for example, in finishing modules of copiers or digital printing machines, but also in completely different areas such.

Description

If in such a stapling device instead of simple staples ring eyelets for stapling the stacked printed products to be used, the stapling head of the device is either rebuilt or replaced with one whose components are adapted to the geometry of the ring eyebolts or are capable of, from To bend a stitching wire supplied to a wire roll in the geometry of a ring eyelet clip. Such a stapling head is offered for example by the company Hohner Maschinenbau GmbH in 78532 Tuttlingen, Germany under the name Universal 48 / 5S. It can be converted from a stapling head for normal staples to a stapling head for eyelets by replacing individual components such as the former and the clincher.
When driving ring eyelet clamps into the product to be stapled, the clip is supported in the region of the eyelet by a protruding into the eyelet clip support. This prevents the eyelet from deforming as it is driven through the product to be stapled and the pierced legs of the staple are bent together. This is especially important if a few layers of thin paper are stapled.
However, the clip support must be withdrawn in time with her the eyelet area protective support body, so they z. B. on further movement of the stapled product under the stapling head the eyelet releases in time. This is usually effected by the comprehensive in the manner of a two-pronged eyelet, the shoulder of the eyelet clip in the product to be stapled pushing driver just before the dead center of his directed to the printed product stitching movement with its lower edge reaches the bevelled end of the staple support, moves along this and pushes it out of the clip.
For thicker stapling products or sturdy paper then the clip is already driven so far that the subsequent bending together of the staple legs has no effect on the Ösengeometrie, since then the paper of the staple product supports the clip.
The object of the present invention is to ensure that even when stapling consisting of a few or thin layers stapling products with eyelet clips that the ring eyelet as possible not deformed.
This object is achieved with the features specified in the
For this purpose, it is provided that the staple support is only moved out of the region of the eyelet when the legs of the staples passing through the material to be stapled are largely bent over. Therefore, in the course of its backward movement, the clip support expediently only leaves the support region of the ring eyelet when the clip-side end of the driver has already exceeded the lower end of the clip support opposite the sheet-like material.
This can be achieved, for example, by virtue of the fact that the return movement of the clip support is derived from or coupled to the movement of the device surrounding the clip end. Of course, this need not necessarily be a mechanical coupling. The coupling may also be of an electrical or electronic nature in that the staple support is driven by a separate drive and moves the staple support out of the area of the eyelet when the stapling product arranged around the staple ends completes the clinching operation to a large extent has that no more harmful lateral forces occur, which can lead to a bending in the area of the eyelet.
However, a solution in which the rearward movement of the staple support out of the region of the ring eyelet is effected by a control cam or a cam which only becomes effective shortly before the bottom dead center of the stapling movement of the driver is also particularly advantageous.

The stapler according to the invention can of course be used in many different devices of the print finishing, not only saddle stitchers, but also, for example, in finishing modules of copiers or digital printing machines, but also in completely different areas such. B. in the wood processing industry, eg. As in furniture manufacturing, the production of picture frames or the like.
