Definitions
- the present invention relates to a stucco composition for building and restoration work, able to be applied on different construction materials and wood.
- the general properties of stucco are well known from the prior art: it does not run, it does not crack, it remains very white, it leaves no halos, it does not need sanding, it is waterproof, it remains elastic, it contains no asbestos, it can be painted with water based products after application.
- stucco needs to be applied in positions where it is hard to reach for the operator, who often has to work on ladders or scaffolding.
- aerated stucco requires packages whose size is the same as the final volume of the product to be used.
- the stucco composition of the present invention solves the drawbacks listed above, while also reducing working time with a readily apparent economic return.
- the author of the present invention has devised a stucco composition that can be advantageously placed in spray bottles, provided with appropriate nozzles, loaded with propellant gas.
- One of the advantages is that the residual product does not come in contact with atmospheric air, which would act as a catalyser, preserving it from degradation.
- Another advantage is that the stucco thus delivered is not handled before its application and is not dirtied in any way.
- the stucco in the bottle is in a compressed state, thus occupying a smaller volume than in its free form, with considerable advantages also for storage and transport.
- the stucco is thus distributed and applied in simple fashion, even from inconvenient positions, directly on the surface to be repaired, without necessarily using additional tools. Moreover, the bottle dispenses only the needed quantity of stucco, without waste. Spray delivery finds particular advantage for applications on horizontal surfaces, such as ceilings.
- composition of the present invention comprises elements that provide the product with particular characteristics of lightness, such as hollow glass microspheres.
- the person skilled in the art will, however, understand that the invention is not limited to compositions that contain them, but that elements that provide the desired properties of lightness and ease of delivery are equally usable and included in the scope of protection.
- the object of the present invention is an aqueous stucco composition suitable for spray delivery comprising essentially at least:
- compositions with specific weight ranging between 0.20 and 0.40, preferably between 0.25 and 0.35.
- the inert hollow micro-spheres are glass micro-spheres, more preferably in a percentage by weight of between about 15% and about 30%, more preferably between about 18% and about 25%.
- the acrylic polymer is Acrilem IC79 or ST198, more preferably in a percentage by weight of between about 25% and about 60%.
- the fluidising agent is oleic acid and/or triethanolamine, more preferably in a percentage by weight of between about 0.3% and about 1.5%.
- the catalysing agent is calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate, alternatively it is scagliola, yet more preferably in a percentage by weight of between about 0.1 % and about 4%.
- the composition also comprises an evaporation accelerating agent, such as an alcohol and/or propylene glycol, preferably in a percentage by weight of between about 0.5% and about 3%.
- the composition also comprises a mould-preventing agent.
- the preferred stucco composition comprises the following ingredients, in percentage by weight: Acrilem ST198 38%; Water 34%; Oleic Acid 0.6%; Triethanolamine T.E.A. 0.6%; Mould-preventing agent 0.03%; Glass micro ⁇ spheres K1 21.6%; Scagliola 4%.
- a further object of the invention is a method for the preparation of an aqueous stucco composition suitable for spray delivery as described, comprising essentially the steps of:
- a first phase A comprising water, acrylic polymer bonding agent, methyl cellulose (if present), sodium hydroxide, calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide (if present);
- phase A adding a phase B comprising fluidising agents, in such a way as to obtain a homogeneous phase C;
- Another object of the present invention is a container with spray delivery containing the described stucco composition.
- a first phase A comprising water, acrylic polymer bonding agent, methyl cellulose (if present), sodium hydroxide, calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide (if present);
- a phase B comprising the fluidising agents (triethanolamine and/or oleic acid) is prepared.
- phase A and B are mixed until obtaining a homogeneous Phase C, to which are added the inert particles, also by mixing.
- the balancing of the components and the quantity of water are such as to obtain an optimal drying of the stucco, at most within 24-48 hours for a thickness of 2 mm.
- the stucco is drawn also by means of pistons and introduced in bottles.
- the bottles can be of the type with internal bag, or of the type without it.
- the gas activated by means of a valve, compresses the bag causing the stucco to escape.
- a suitable piston causes the stucco to escape.
