Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for applying adhesive to the rib side of a corrugated cardboard and to a corresponding method.
  • a corrugated board is typically a lightweight construction (sandwich construction) of cardboard, cover paper and adhesive. Corrugated board is defined by the size of the waves (also called ribs), the wave positions and the quality of the cover papers.
  • Conventional corrugating machines typically employ a system of rollers, one of which is provided with an adhesive film. As the corrugated board revolves around this roller, the adhesive film is transferred to the rib side of the board. '
  • the patent US 5,609,711 discloses an apparatus for applying adhesive, which differs from conventional roller solutions in that a nozzle selectively deposits adhesive trays on the ribs by reducing the speed of the downward movement of the nozzle to less than the speed of advancement of the corrugated cardboard.
  • the patent DE-C-515 605 discloses - to achieve a more stable structure of cartons and boxes - a corrugated paper, which is arranged diagonally to the trim edges of the upper and lower cover paper.
  • this corrugated cardboard thus coat an upper and a lower adhesive applicator roller - so still rolls in the conventional sense - obliquely employed ribs from the corrugated paper.
  • the object is achieved by a device according to claim 1 and a method according to claim 14.
  • the amount of adhesive can be greatly reduced compared to conventional devices.
  • the invention can be designed so that the adhesive consumption is about one-half the consumption of conventional systems.
  • cover paper can be used which is thinner than heretofore, since the sandwich construction is less moist after the application of the adhesive.
  • an inventive device is advantageous because it consumes less adhesive.
  • a closed adhesive circuit can be realized in which the adhesive exits only at the nozzle.
  • the process stability is improved and the reproducibility becomes better.
  • a device according to the invention can be operated at higher speeds, which results in a higher throughput.
  • a device according to the invention can start up and stop faster.
  • the application of glue takes place in a controlled manner. This eliminates intermediate storage and further steps.
  • inventive device depending on the embodiment, self-cleaning.
  • the invention relates to a device for use in the manufacture and / or processing of corrugated board.
  • a first device 10 according to the invention is shown.
  • the device 10 is specifically designed for applying adhesive to the rib side of a corrugated board 16.
  • the device 10 comprises a (slot) nozzle 15 which dispenses liquid adhesive while the rib side of the corrugated board 16 is moved past the nozzle 15 at a distance A, as indicated by the arrow X.
  • the distance A (with A ⁇ 0) is adjustable so that glue is applied to the rib side only in the upper area of the ribs.
  • the device 10 comprises an adhesive tank 11, a pump 12 and a system for flow measurement and control, which preferably comprise a flow regulator 13 and an actuator 14 in order to measure and adjust the flow.
  • adhesive is conveyed from the tank 11 into the nozzle 15.
  • the nozzle 15 is shown in a highly schematic section. Of the Adhesive enters the nozzle 15 at the top.
  • the shown (slot) nozzle 15 has an elongated outlet opening 15.1, which faces in the direction of corrugated cardboard 16.
  • the elongate outlet opening 15.1, as well as the ribs of the corrugated cardboard 16, extend substantially perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, wherein preferably the outlet opening 15.1 is slightly raised relative to the ribs (not off) Fig. 1 visible).
  • Fig. 2 shows a further inventive device 20.
  • this device 20 is a so-called nozzle chair, which can be used for example in a production line.
  • the corrugated board 16 runs as a web over two plates 28 or suitable guide elements.
  • the contact pressure of the plates 28 can be adjusted, as in Fig. 2 indicated by the double arrows 30.
  • Above the corrugated cardboard 16 sits the actual nozzle 25.
  • the nozzle 25 can be adjusted by means of adjusting mechanisms.
  • the relative position (distance A and / or angle of attack W) of the nozzle 25 with respect to the corrugated cardboard 16 can be specified.
  • means may be provided to mechanically adjust the nozzle width or the width of the nozzle exit opening.
  • the said shaft may for example be mounted in a thread of the nozzle 25, depending on the direction of rotation further into or out of a nozzle chamber. Depending on the position of the shaft, the nozzle chamber is enlarged or reduced, thereby changing the outlet opening.
  • the shaft can also carry a sliding element, which is displaced by rotation of the shaft to change the outlet opening. It can also be used a piston to adjust the nozzle outlet opening.
  • the nozzle chair can be moved up and down parallel to the axis 29 in order to adjust the distance A between the nozzle 25 and the ribs of the corrugated cardboard 16.
  • the nozzle chair 20 can preferably be adjusted by an angle W, wherein the angle of attack W is between 0 and 20 degrees, preferably between 2 and 10 degrees, as in the highly schematic plan view in FIGS. 3A and 3B indicated.
  • the nozzle 15 in Fig. 1 can be designed to be adjustable.
  • FIGS. 3A and 3B a further embodiment is shown.
  • the nozzle 35 as optional in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 , be employed.
  • Fig. 3A is the angle W of the nozzle 35 with respect to the rib course zero degrees and the outlet opening 35.1 of the nozzle 35 thus extends parallel to the ribs of the corrugated cardboard 16.
  • Fig. 3B the angle W is greater than zero degrees and the outlet opening 35.1 of the nozzle 35 extends obliquely to the ribs of the corrugated board 16.
  • the oblique position has the advantage that the nozzle 35 is always seen over its entire length with at least one shaft in contact, if the device is operated in contact mode. In this case, the nozzle 35 meshes obliquely over the ribs of the corrugated cardboard 16.
  • the devices according to the invention can be operated as required in two different operating modes (contactless mode and contact mode). Either an embodiment can be designed so that it can be switched from one to the other mode. Or the embodiment may be specific to one of the two modes.
  • the first mode contactless mode
  • Fig. 4 there is a kind of intermittent application of adhesive in that the outlet opening 45.1 of the nozzle 45 is arranged at a distance A so close to the ribs 16.1 that a continuously exiting adhesive film 16.4 each short-term breaks and thus only the top Cover areas of the ribs 16.1 with adhesive 16.2.
  • Fig. 4 a moment is shown in which the adhesive film 16.4 just tears off after an adhesive strip 16.3 has been applied to a rib.
  • the angle W is preferably set to an angle smaller than 5 degrees.
  • the second mode (contact mode) is in Fig. 5 shown.
  • An adhesive film 16.4 is continuously discharged from the nozzle 45. Since the corrugated board 16 moves to the left relative to the nozzle, as indicated by the arrow X, the adhesive film 16.4 is stripped or separated respectively by the contact or approach of the outlet opening 45.1 at the top of the rib 16.1.
  • An adhesive film 16.4 is continuously discharged from the nozzle 45. Since the corrugated board 16 moves to the left relative to the nozzle, as indicated by the arrow X, the adhesive film 16.4 is stripped or separated respectively by the contact or approach of the outlet opening 45.1 at the top of the
  • the adhesive on the ribs 16.1 is somewhat shorter and thinner than in the first mode, but this depends on the settings (feed rate, amount of adhesive / unit time, strength of the adhesive, shape and nature of the corrugated board, etc.).
  • An adhesive strip 16.3 is being created by tearing off the adhesive film 16.4.
  • the angle W is set greater than zero degrees, with the angle W preferably being between 2 and 10 degrees.
  • a device according to the invention may be equipped with various control and control elements in order to be able to monitor the method according to the invention.
  • an ionizing bar or the like is arranged parallel to the nozzle in order to be able to influence / deflect the adhesive film 16.4 after it has emerged from the outlet opening 45.1.
  • the adhesive film 16.4 can be attracted and thus influenced.
  • the nozzles can have cleaning lips or other cleaning elements. These lips or elements can be used to clean the nozzles, since contamination can occur from the inside (by glue) and from the outside (by parts of the cardboard). It can also be arranged in the region of the outlet opening lips, which allow stripping of the adhesive film when touching or approaching a rib. These lips can be flexible to prevent damage to the rib structure. It can also be trailing lips that are pulled over the ribs and thereby release the adhesive film.
  • a cleaning element is arranged within the nozzle, which prevents the emergence and / or setting of impurities by reciprocating.
  • the nozzle is a surface nozzle or a slot nozzle having an elongated outlet opening.
  • the nozzle is preferably arranged so that over the entire length L (see Fig. 3B ) of the outlet opening of the distance A to the corrugated cardboard 16 is substantially equal.
  • the nozzle is set obliquely with respect to the course of the ribs 16.1.
  • the adhesive is scraped off at an angle and the nozzle always rests on at least one point on the corrugated cardboard. This reduces vibrations in contact mode.
  • the device thus operates quieter and the mechanical stress of the device is lower.
  • the corrugated board 16 can be moved either as a corrugated board or in the form of individual corrugated sheets on the nozzle. It is also conceivable to move the nozzle past the corrugated cardboard 16.
