Definitions

  • the present invention concerns a roof ladder according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the invention also concerns a method for producing a roof ladder.
  • Roof ladders of the kind that is concerned here are intended to function as transport paths for persons who intend to set foot upon a roof and move between different levels along the outside of an inclined roof.
  • different design types are prescribed for the stepping surfaces of the treads of the roof ladder.
  • pin ladders for roofs are used, wherein the stepping surface is comprised of a pin-shaped tread.
  • a roof ladder which can be used for roofs having a roof inclination within different determined intervals.
  • the roof ladder With respect to roof inclinations within a first interval, the roof ladder is arranged for being positioned in a first direction and for use within a second interval of roof inclinations, the roof ladder is adapted for being positioned in the second direction.
  • the same ladder can be used for roofs having different inclinations and by the way for different roof inclinations at different portions of the same roof, which is an economic advantage with respect to manufacture and handling as well as storing and transportation.
  • the roof ladder is made more comfortable for adaption to different roof inclinations within the interval and in general when in use .
  • the roof ladder according to the invention is manufactured in metal-plate material and in particular that each tread is constructed essentially to a reversed trough-shape as seen in the using position.
  • This construction results in a very advantageous shape with respect of its use and provides the tread with a rigid and resistant shape in order to provide an efficiently rigid and resistant roof ladder also when using metal-plate material having relatively reduced plate thickness.
  • the entire roof ladder including the treads and the string elements is formed in one integral piece manufactured in a metal-plate working and metal-plate forming process. This gives good production economy and results in that the end product has a much reduced weight in comparison with previously known products.
  • the string elements are preferably comprised of bent, essentially L-, U- or Z-shaped, profiles that provide rigidity to the roof ladder under maintaining low weight.
  • By having one shank of the profile forming essentially a right angle or nearly right angle to the general plane of the roof ladder effective and efficient possibility are provided for fastening of the roof ladder to the roof on conventional or specially constructed ladder brackets that have portions co-operating with respect of fastening with these shanks essentially at a right angle to the general plane of the roof ladder. In practice this corresponds to the fact that in the using position, these shanks extend almost in vertical planes or form small angles with vertical planes.
  • a method for producing a roof ladder in one piece of metal- plate material according to claim 11 is a rational method resulting in a roof ladder that is advantageous in many aspects according to the above. By drawing through deformation, deep-drawing, of the portions intended to form treads, said advantageous trough-shape is provided to these portions .
  • Fig. 1 shows a roof ladder according to the invention before fastening onto a roof
  • Fig. 2 shows in a section a portion of the roof ladder in fig. 1 in a first position
  • Fig. 3 shows a portion of the roof ladder in fig. 1 in a second position
  • Fig. 4 shows a detail of a roof ladder according to the invention in a greater scale
  • Fig. 5 shows a section through a tread of a roof ladder according to the invention in a greater scale.
  • a roof ladder 1 according to the invention which is manufactured in one piece from a metal-plate and thus has two string elements 2, 3 and two integral treads 4, 5.
  • the ladder can of course be longer and be provided with more treads. It can also simply be joined together with other similar ladders .
  • Each string element 2 is for rigidity reasons bent to (here) L-shaped profile.
  • One of the shanks of the L- profile is positioned to be adapted to co-operation with a suitable fastening bracket.
  • the applicant's fastening bracket 6, which is fixable over a plate-seem fastener 7 to a plate-seem 8 of a metal-plated roof.
  • Other types of brackets can of course be used in connection with roof ladders according to the invention.
  • the string elements 2, 3 are bent such with respect to a general plane of the roof ladder 1 that they diverge only somewhat upwardly with respect to vertical planes through the string elements.
  • one of the shanks of the string elements is in a plane forming an angle close to 90° with said general plane.
  • the roof ladder according to the invention is constructed so that it can be used for different roof inclinations and for that reason it is can be turned in a manner that is evident from fig. 2 and fig. 3.
  • the roof ladder is positioned for adaptation to smaller roof inclinations.
  • Each tread 4 therefore provides a first stepping surface Tl, the extension of which is adapted for use when the roof ladder is positioned this way. (Only as examples, it concerns inclinations less than about 30° - 45°) .
  • the first stepping surface Tl has a shallow, extended, step-like construction.
  • the first stepping surface Tl is provided with a curvature or one or more bends along its extension so that portions of the stepping surface shall be close to horizontal when positioning the roof ladder inside the interval.
  • Pl shows the direction to an imaginary roof ridge in fig. 2.
  • the stepping surface Tl has thus, only as an example, a general extension that is adapted to lower roof inclinations.
  • the roof ladder is shown in use for steeper roofs having greater roof inclination. (Only as an example it concerns inclinations greater than about 30° - 45°) .
  • the roof ladder is now positioned with a second end directed upwardly along the roof and a second stepping surface T2 comes to the use for a user stepping on the roof ladder.
  • This second stepping surface T2 has, as a contrast to the first stepping surface Tl, a more abruptly rounded, partially pin-step-like construction in order to provide the roof ladder features from a pin-ladder when used in said interval.
  • the arrow P2 shows the direction to an imaginary roof ridge in fig. 3.
  • the roof ladder is manufactured integral from one and the same metal-plate sheet.
  • each tread is constructed, which is clearer in fig. 4, vaulted, essentially to a reversed trough-shape as seen in a using position. This shape is obtained in a deforming plate-working process, wherein the portion of the work-piece to comprise tread, is drawn or deep-drawn to the vaulted shape.
  • the tread 4' is provided with friction increasing crater-like press-ups 11 (only one is provided with a reference numeral) of a kind known per se. These friction increasing press-ups 11 are positioned and dimensioned in a suitable manner depending on the field of use and desire.
  • fig. 5 is- shown cross sections through a tread 4', wherein it is evident that in this case the first stepping surface T'l is provided with an even curvature along its extension, as a contrast to the stepping surface Tl in fig. 2 which is designed somewhat differently, namely with essentially plane portions separated by more distinct bend portions.
  • the second stepping surface, T' 2 in fig. 5, is shaped in a similar manner as the corresponding stepping surface in fig. 3.
  • a preferred method for manufacturing a roof ladder in one piece of metal-plate is distinguished in that a plane work- piece is cut from a starting material of metal-plate. At the same time is performed, in one and the same combined tool, deep-drawing of the portions of the plane surface to be forming treads to trough-shape for providing the vaulted shape as is discussed above and possibly perforation and press-up of friction increasing crater elements. Thereafter the string elements are bent upwardly, for example through rolling, to profile shape, preferably with L-, U- or Z-shaped profile, even if other shapes may come into question. Finally anti- corrosion treatment and possibly other surface treatment is performed.
  • the invention can be modified within the scope of the claims and in its most general form is intended a roof ladder that can be turned with the treads adjusted on the one hand for low roof inclinations, on the other hand for steeper roof inclinations.
  • separately formed treads are fastened, for example through welding, to separately manufactured string elements.
  • These treads can be produced vaulted through drawing according to the above and thereafter welded to the string elements or be manufactured in any other way. It shall, however, be strongly stressed that it is preferred that the entire roof ladder is manufactured in one piece according to the above, since this minimizes the working effort for manufacturing, minimizes weight and all associated costs involved in that connection.
