Definitions
- the invention relates to a smoke detector, which is insensitive to interference from extraneous light or unwanted reflections.
- a fail-safe smoke detector (1) it is proposed to form the sensor system as a reflex light barrier, so that a light signal (6) is constantly emitted by a light transmitter (2) onto a reflector (5).
- the reflector reflects the signal as a reflection (7) on a light receiver (3).
- the light signal (6) is intensity-modulated with a fixed clock frequency.
- the received signal (7) can be recognized at its clock frequency, so that extraneous light is excluded for signal evaluation in the electronics (4).
- Particularly suitable for the signal evaluation proposed in the German Patent DE 103 00 223 B3 the disclosure content of which is to be included in the disclosure content of this application, to use the described measuring arrangement and method for the phase-correct compensation of a signal.
- the smoke detector according to the invention constantly emits a light signal (6) and evaluates its reflection (7), further reflections interfere within of the housing, the measurement, because they are detected as a reflection of the transmitted signal (6) and evaluated as such in the measurement. By contrast, penetrating extraneous light does not participate in the measurement.
- the reflector (5) may simply be an untreated wall or part of the housing. Because the smoke detector can adjust to the reflector, as explained below in the description of the "maintenance cycle".
- the reflector can also be a reflective foil made of microspheres or microtriples, but especially as a microcube reflector, as in the DE 197 27 527 C2 , the disclosure content of which is to be included in the disclosure content of this application, is described, because these are suitable as "IMOS" reflectors on the market cubic reflectors for maximum ranges for Reflexsensorsysteme, in particular those in the DE 102 16 579 A1 and EP 1 251 367 B1 , the disclosure content of which is to be included in the disclosure content of this application, described IMOS wide-angle reflectors are preferred as a reflective surface, if over an arc of well over 80 °, for example, with the HALIOS system, the reflector should be observed.
- the smoke detector can be designed for the smallest observation areas, for example within a small machine and also in large workshops for monitoring of distances of over 100 m. Because of the reflector, the possible distance between the light emitter (2) and the reflector (5) can be varied considerably. This advantage is obtained by the smoke detector in that it does not use the previous sensor system that detects reflections, but rather its novel system, which initially relies on the measuring system used to emit a continuous measuring beam and also to constantly receive it as a reflection.
- the smoke detector does not lose its function due to dust accumulation due to dust accumulation or due to aging of the electronic components changes measured values that could lead to malfunctions, it regularly switches between a work cycle and a maintenance cycle.
- the work cycle can be described particularly well, based on the HALIOS principle mentioned above.
- the emitted signal (6) is readjusted using a compensation LED when the reflection signal (7) has changed. This means that if a readjustment in the work cycle is required, then the beam path has been disturbed, for example by smoke or smoke particles.
- the smoke detector triggers an alarm.
- the duty cycle has a tolerance range in which it does not readjust, that is, the duty cycle depends on the disturbance. Only from a certain disturbance alarm is triggered.
- the aging of the electronic components and the changes on the reflector (5) are compensated by low dust deposits. Because the work cycle is interrupted. In the maintenance cycle, the measuring electronics are allowed, even below the threshold value, which would trigger an alarm if exceeded, to readjust. This means that the smoke detector finds a new state of equilibrium by readjustment. The readjustment in the maintenance state does not lead to the alarm. In addition, before judging maintenance, a vibrator or blower can remove the deposited dust from the smoke detector. In a very small construction, it is proposed to use a micropump as a blower. This requires little energy, so that even battery-powered smoke detectors according to the invention can clean themselves during the maintenance cycle.
- This smoke detector described here thus solves fundamental problems of the detection of smoke. He is not disturbed by extraneous light. He is special when using the HALIOS measuring principle during the working cycle, very sensitive to smoke and smoke particles, because any change in the reflected beam (7) would then lead to readjustment if the change were outside the tolerance range. In the maintenance phase, however, there is no tolerance range, but it is mandatory to readjusted to find a new balance of the measuring system. This newly adjusted balance serves as the starting condition for the following new cycle.
- the novel smoke detector also has no problem with unwanted reflections of its transmission signal (6) within its housing (8). For he recognizes these reflections as emitted by him and as part of his reception measurement in the light receiver (3).
- the smoke detector does not need a darkroom in the housing as before, no extraneous light protection and no measures to suppress reflections.
- the smoke detector can free itself of dust deposits in the maintenance phase, can adapt to slowly progressive changes in its environmental situation and / or aging and power consumption of electronic components by readjustment during the maintenance cycle.
- the smoke detector indicate its duty cycle and / or maintenance cycle by, for example, an LED. It is particularly suitable that the smoke detector gives a signal for manual maintenance by a maintenance expert after a predetermined number of maintenance cycles. So a permanent safety through the smoke detector is possible.
- the smoke detector (1) consisting of the light emitter (2), the light receiver (3), the electronics (4), the control, as "R" marked, for the duty cycle and the maintenance cycle contains, and a reflector (5).
- the light transmitter (2) sends a light signal (6) to the reflector (5).
- the light signal is reflected by the reflector (5) as a reflection signal (7) to the light receiver (3).
- the received light signal (7) is evaluated by the electronics (4).
- the described sensor arrangement is accommodated in a housing (8).
- the housing has openings (9), which allow the smoke to enter.
- the electronics (4) are designed so that they can detect even the slightest intensity variations of the signal.
- the sensor system described above can be used not only as a smoke detector.
- the evaluation electronics can be designed such that they can count the occurring disturbances by means of a counter.

Abstract
