Definitions
- the knee joint is of particular importance in the prosthetic treatment of transfemural amputations. In addition to the mechanical strength and resilience, this must also meet certain functional requirements. On the one hand, it must not buckle when standing still and in the standing leg phase of the gait, so it must have sufficient stability. On the other hand, the dynamic behavior during the late stance phase and the swing leg phase must enable the most natural possible gait despite the lack of muscles. Depending on the agility of the patient being cared for, different systems are used. If, for example, the stability argument is in the foreground for frail patients, young and more active people try to meet their movement needs as much as possible. Accordingly, there is a diverse range of products on the market, from simple hinge joints to multi-axis joints (polycentric joints). These joints can also be equipped with additional mechanical and electromechanical components, such as mechanical locks, return springs, hydraulic dampers or even computer-controlled damping elements.
- this quadrilateral joint is modeled by two circular guides.
- the kinematics of the human knee joint are far more complex and the idealization of the cruciate ligaments as rigid rods of a quadrilateral joint is only an approximation of the actual behavior.
- the aim of prosthetic joints is to move the center of rotation from the back to the front in order to be able to guarantee sufficient security against buckling in the standing leg phase.
- the invention has set itself the goal of creating a prosthetic knee joint that is largely simple in construction and that meets all requirements essential for the user.
- the coefficients can also assume negative values.
- the migration of the current pivot point corresponds to the requirement shown above.
- the guides are designed so that they are not circular orbits. So no overlapping quadrilateral is simulated.
- the first body with the guides is gripped in a fork-like manner by the second body with the bearings of the bolts and a connection for the lower leg.
- the second body with the bearings of the bolts or the like and the connection for the lower leg is gripped in a forked manner by a cover with a connection for the thigh, the cover being detachably connected to the first body.
- the prosthetic knee joint can be easily disassembled into its individual parts. This results in the possibility of individual and yet simple design of the kinematics of the prosthetic knee joint and its adaptation to the requirements of prosthetic care for patients with transfemural amputation.
- the detachable connection consists of at least one screw running approximately parallel to the bolts and the like.
- a plate resting on the cover and on the first body can be arranged.

- a prosthetic knee joint according to the invention has a first body 1, which is assigned to the thigh, and a second body 2, which is assigned to the lower leg.
- first body 1 which is assigned to the thigh
- second body 2 which is assigned to the lower leg.
- two curved guides 3 and 4 are arranged, the course of which will be explained with reference to FIG. 4.
- Body 2 is provided with a truncated pyramid-shaped connection 10 to the lower leg or its prosthesis.
- the body 2 encompasses the body 1. Both bodies 1 and 2 are therefore inevitably guided against one another.
- the unit consisting of the first and second body is gripped by a cover 11, which is provided with a truncated pyramid-shaped connection 12 to the thigh or its prosthesis.
- a cover 11 which is provided with a truncated pyramid-shaped connection 12 to the thigh or its prosthesis.
- connection of parts 1 and 11 is arranged on the cover 11 and the first body 1 lying plate 14.
- the plate 14 is connected to the cover 11 by means of screws 15.
- 4 shows the course of the guides 3 and 4.
- the bore 13 'for the screw 13 lies in the use position of the prosthetic knee joint shown in the front.
- the points Xp ( ⁇ ), Yp ( ⁇ ), X Q ( ⁇ ), Y Q ( ⁇ ) determined in the characterizing part of claim 1 or claim 2 relate to the center lines p and q of the guides 3 and 4.
- the origin of the Coordinate system is moved to the front end of the center line p.
