- a fragrance mixture according to the invention is a mixture containing two or more fragrances in the narrower or broader sense, wherein the fragrances usually be dissolved in a carrier medium become.
- a fragrance product in the context of the invention is a ready-made or individually prepared commodity, in particular an intended for consumption by end consumer commodity, in that a fragrance or a perfume mixture is incorporated to give the commodity a certain smell.
- the human smell of sweat and / or body, which is perceived as unpleasant by humans, is called bad smell or malodor.
- fragrance products such as perfumes and fragrance compositions have always been used. Developing such fragrance compositions and checking their effectiveness in masking the odor of sweat has heretofore been essentially by trial and error.
- a sample of a fragrance or fragrance mixture to be tested for its ability to mask the odor of sweat (masking sample), mixed with a sweat sample or a sample of odorous sweat odoriferous or fragrance mixture (Malodor standard) and the olfactory odor impression determined by a panel of examiners.
- Mealodor standard a sample of odorous sweat odoriferous or fragrance mixture
- selecting a Malodor standard is difficult.
- Sweat is virtually impossible to produce with consistent odor intensity and quality, in a consistent amount and in a constant composition; it is therefore not suitable as a reproducible malodor standard.
- the odor quality of the Malodor standard is understood as the type of perceived bad odor.
- other fragrances used instead of sweat can only reproduce certain odor qualities of perspiration and are therefore limited in their ability to predict the quality of sweat odor masking by a fragrance product. Fragrance compositions of several fragrances can counteract this limitation, but they are often expensive to manufacture. Accordingly, the development of a scent product masking the sweat odor, in particular a corresponding personal care product or a corresponding room air freshener, currently consuming.
- a further object of the invention was to specify a method for producing a sweat-odor masking fragrance product, in particular a sweat-odor-masking personal care product or a sweat-odor-masking room-air improver.
- a sweat odor masking fragrance product itself should be specified, in particular a personal care product or a room air improver. The fragrance product sought should mask the malodor, if possible, without at the same time imparting a strong odor or perfumery impression.
- levels of human sweat present an extremely strong odor impression and have a very low threshold.
- it is characteristic of the bad odor impression of body sweat. It is therefore particularly suitable for use as Malodor standard.
- Malodor is understood in particular to mean that by 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexane-1-ol.
- odor masking is the complete or partial coverage of an odor, in the present case the sweat and / or body odor or the odor of 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol, by another fragrance or by a fragrance mixture, Understood.
- odor neutralization is meant the (largely) complete masking.
- EP 1 055 667 A2 mentions 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol as a flavoring agent.
- the taste of the racemic compound is described with passion fruit, blackcurrant (Cassis) and green, the (S) -enantiomer with herbaceous and green and the (R) -enantiomer with grapefruit / passion fruit, black currant berry and onion-like.
- German Offenlegungsschrift DE 2 316 456 the odor for a group of mercaptoalcohols, which includes 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol, is generally described as penetrating in high concentrations. However, the odor properties of 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol itself are not described.
- the invention therefore also provides a test method for checking the masking of sweat odor by a test sample with one or more fragrances, comprising the steps of: a) preparing a malodor standard mixture containing 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol in an odorless Carrier gas, b) preparing a test mixture containing 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol and a test sample in the carrier gas, and c) Determining the total intensity and / or the malodorous impression of the malodor standard mixture in comparison to the test mixture.
- the intensity of a substance or substance mixture describes the intensity of the mixture perceived by trained examiners as odorless or unpleasant odor, regardless of the quality of the odor.
- the intensity is rated here on a scale of 1 to 9.
- the value 1 means odorless, 9 means very strong smelling.
- the malodorous impression in turn describes the intensity of the perceived bad smell.
- the term malodor reduction value in the present case describes the intensity difference, i. the difference, bad odor (Malodor) of Malodor ⁇ standard mixture and the test mixture.
- the test method is carried out at 20 0 C and 1013 mbar. It is likewise preferred if the concentration of 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol in the malodor standard mixture and the test mixture is the same. This allows a particularly good comparison of the mixtures.
- the test sample according to the invention preferably comprises two or more fragrances.
- two or more fragrances are used.
- complex fragrance mixtures such as essential oils can be checked for their suitability for masking sweat odor.
- a standard solution of 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol in an odorless solvent is preferably used.
- 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol can be used to carry out the test method in an already sufficiently prediluted dosage form, so that the dosage of 3-mercapto-3-methyl-hexan-1-ol advantageously simplified is.

Description
- A -
