Description

Brochures often have flapper flaps with folded flaps. The edges of these flaps can be recessed, flush or projecting with respect to the front section of the book block. With recessed edges, the work process can be done quite normally. If the edges are flush or projecting, the normal front trimming in the three-knife trimmer in the usual production process is not possible. The protruding flaps would be cut open and also the flush flaps would occasionally be cut to tolerance.

As a result, these products normally require two passes through adhesive binder devices. It is first made a block without an envelope and performed the front trimming. The block is then returned to the perfect binder and provided with the envelope with embarked flaps. Then the head and Fußbeschnitt then done.

In this way, the production of brochures designed with flaps designed quite uneconomical.

To solve this problem, there are machines on the market that perform the front incision after or before the head and foot incision is made in a normal three-knife trimmer. Machines of this type are described in the EP 0754 566 ,

The block is trimmed planliegend, with the front and rear cover side are folded up and thus out of the front cutting area.

Preferably, the front section is carried out in the special machine after the head and foot cut has already been made. The envelopes are unfolded during transport in the block back direction and the block pressed without cover pages and cut at a standstill.

When unfolding the entire cover page is due to the Saugplatteneffekt the risk that the upper leaves of the block are unfolded with.

The block is also not pressed in many areas when cut. This affects the flatness of the upper and lower leaves of the block and thus leads to cut deviations such as hollow section or mushroom cut. Separate machines are required for head and foot trim and for front trim.

In EP 1 053 890 B1 a device is known from which the features of the preamble of claim 1 are known and in which the flap edges are pulled out of the line of intersection of the front blade by creating a bulge through a vacuum rail parallel to the back direction. In this case, there is the risk of buckling in the vacuum rail in envelopes with high grammage.

By the rubbing motion of the retracting envelope on the outermost sheet of the block, this can also be withdrawn, depending on the friction conditions and thickness of the signatures. For this reason, it is advisable in this device, the head and Fußbeschnitt perform only after the front cut to use the stiffness of the signatures. On the other hand, this has the disadvantage that the head and foot knives can then cut into the void at the overhanging edges of the envelopes and cause tearing.

The envelopes, which are slightly withdrawn from the cutting plane of the front knife, prevent the exact block from being pressed directly next to the cut. This leads to recognizable mushroom cutting. The cutting bar must have an extra slight cut-out for the envelope. As a result, standard bars can not be used.

In the area of the suction rail, the block is not supported and may bulge out. This leads to Längerschneiden the outer block sheets: hollow section.

Devices of the type described above must be integrated to achieve a good economy in the production flow. This requires a relatively large effort. The production lines are usually designed so that the three-knife trimmer is trimmed several times in the stack. The flap cutters can only cut easily and then limit the performance when the flap has to be cut through when the flaps are closed.

For normal production, the flap cutters are therefore bypassed by switches, which of course means a large transport effort in the entire system.

For the processing of embarked flaps and devices have become known that perform the front cut in the perfect binder. there however, the maximum block thickness is limited. In addition, cutting disadvantages occur in the front cut itself. The required for a good cut pressure next to the cut can not be realized in the passage in the stapling system. Again, the problem arises that cut later in the head and Fußbeschnitt the knives on the supernatants of the embarked flaps in the void. There is no longer any support in cutting through the block, as the front cut has already been made.

The object of the invention is to avoid the functional disadvantages of the mentioned solutions and also in brochures with embraced flaps to perform the Vorderbeschnitt and the head and Fußbeschnitt in a machine as in normal brochures while avoiding space-consuming points solutions and additional machinery costs.

This object is achieved in that in a three-cutter as he eg loud EP 1 225 015 B1 is known, a flap opening device is provided. The knives of the three-knife trimmer preferably work in compression against cutting strips and the block is pressed over the entire surface in the cut both in the head and foot cutting station as well as in the front cutting station in order to achieve high quality cut.

This three-knife trimmer can be a stand-alone machine or integrated in line in a system.

Preferably, in the material flow of the machine, the head and Fußschnittstation located in front of the front cutting station, so that head and foot knife at the flap edges still have support by the not yet cut front section and can cut clean.

The flap opening device may optionally be used or not used. There is no need for retrofitting, which is of particular importance in times of decreasing requirements. You just have to drive on Forgot blocks in stacks when traversing envelopes with folded envelopes, limiting the performance of the overall system to the performance of the trimmer in this type of product, while increasing performance with staple trimming in the trimmer.

Pressplatte geschoben. In the three-knife trimmer, the transport of the blocks is preferably carried out with spine first. The cut in the first station head and foot block is transported in the front cutting station with his back against a stop, first by a measure X1 beyond the end position and is then pushed back by the back stop by the amount X1 and aligned for the front section , The edges of the envelopes are singled up and down and pushed into a narrow escape channel in the cutting table or press plate.

Dabei ist der Überhub und der entsprechende Rückhub durch den Rückenanschlag so gewählt, dass die Klappenkante gerade über die Hinterkante der Schneidtischauflage zurückgezogen wird, der Block mit seinen Frontabschnitt aber noch auf der Auflage bleibt, um nachfolgend eine saubere Vereinzelung zu ermöglichenThe overstroke and the corresponding return stroke is selected by the back stop so that the flap edge is retracted just above the trailing edge of the cutting table support, the block with its front section but still on the support remains to allow subsequently a clean separation

The separation takes place, for example, with blown air on the effect of the hydrodynamic paradox (Koanda effect). By obliquely - preferably about 20 ° - escaping against the support surface blowing air from evenly distributed over the height of the block nozzle openings of the envelope is sucked to a curved or inclined surface without being sucked on it, so that friction-free contactless displacement of the envelope takes place against the deflection , The blown air blows only briefly during the Blockrückhubes.

The escape channels in the table and press plate, into which the envelopes are pushed, are only narrow and thus do not affect the entire surface Supporting effect of table and press plate. By a horizontal displacement of the blowing device up and down to the end of the return stroke, the relatively wide escape channels during the singling are narrowed as much as possible in order to achieve almost full-surface contact and hold during the cut.

In order for the front side of the block to be pushed back into the cutting position via the cutter bar during the return stroke, the block can be raised slightly during the return stroke.

For format changes in the height of the block, no format corrections need to be made to the nozzle openings. It can always blow all the nozzles.

Of course, the dynamic squeegee can also be replaced by a suction roll or correspondingly moving suckers.

In this case, the suction cups, which are not in the format range, must be shut off so as not to weaken the vacuum. For this purpose, all suckers are supplied by separately lockable lines. The suction roll is subdivided over the format height into several chambers, which are also supplied separately and lockable with vacuum.

Another alternative is to separate the envelope from the block by mechanical means, e.g. Parting tips which grasp the edge of the envelope on the return stroke and turn into evasion channels. It is advantageous to arrange the separating tips slightly oblique or slightly arrow-shaped to the cutting line of the front blade, so that the division process begins from one side or from the center.

After the frontcut has been made, the block is now transported farther back. The opened end of the turn ends again from the escape channels pulled out. The back stop has swung away and clears the way.

The invention offers the possibility of treating brochures with protruding or flush envelopes wrapped in the same way as normal products. Head and foot trimming and front trimming are done in one machine and in one pass.

It avoids cutting problems, as they occur in known devices.

This has created an optimal economic opportunity for the production of flap brochures, which at the same time offers optimum cut quality, regardless of the block thickness, envelope grammage and paper nature of the blocks.

The FIGS. 1 to 4 show an example of the possible construction of a three-knife trimmer for trimming flap brochures, in which the separation of the flaps takes place according to the Koanda effect.

The two-station three-knife trimmer consists of a head cutting station A, a foot trimming station B, which can be set to block height according to the format adjustment v, and the front trimming station C.

The blocks I are introduced to the import position D by hand or automatically. During normal production, stacks can be formed, while when trimming brochures with flaps taken, only individual products can be processed.

The workability of stacks, which is important for economic use of the machine, is made possible by the gripped transport via upper belt and lower belt.

The introduced into the position D block or stack is initially aligned via the slider 1 against the stops 2 in the direction block width and by the movement of the stops 2 against each other in the block height direction. The pincer belts 3a and 3b pivot on the block and transport it together with the main transport belts 4a, 4b in the cutting position E. There, the block is aligned by the slider 5 against the back stops 6 and at the same time on the side stops 7. The block is pressed by the pressure bars 8 via the drives 9 against the cutting tables 10. Thereafter, the cut is carried out by the knife 11 preferably in the inclined blade section as a crush cut against cutting strips 10 a.

The back stops 6 are located directly next to the cut and support the block back during the cut to avoid tearing the envelope material.

After the cut, the block is transported by the main transport belts 4a and 4b. When the block with the trailing edge leaves the main transfer belts 4a, 4b, it is transferred to the belts 12a and 12b, which are driven together with the export belts 13a and 13b, but at the time of transfer of the block, a speed synchronous to the main transport belts 4a and 4b to have.

By the belt 12a, 12b and the export belt 13a, 13b, the block is now transported in the front cutting station C to the stops 14 via the hub X1 on the cutting position E out and pushed back by the stops 14 again to the hub X1 in the cutting position against the pivoted stops 17, wherein the separation and initiation of the flaps K in escape channels 16a and 16b according to a first embodiment, for example, by the Blasluftdüsenplatten 15a and 15b.

The lower Blasluftdüsenplatte 15 a forms with the cutting support 18 a plane.

During the return stroke, the pressure bar 19 has a distance a from the block I, in order to enable a smooth shifting of the block I. The upper blast air nozzle plate 15b is a little less than the dimension a lower to make contact with the envelope.

The suction of the K takes place exactly in the overstroke position, as in FIG. 3 is shown. The cover edge of the flap K is located behind the cutting support 18, while the front portion F is still on the cutting support 18. As a result, a very secure separation can take place. The Envelope flap K is sucked by activating blown air by the effect of the hydrodynamic paradox, also known as Koanda effect around the curvature of the Blasluftdüsenplatten 15a, 15b .. During the return stroke, the sucked flap K is pushed into the escape channel 16a from the front Curvature of the Blasluftdüsenplatte 15 a and the arcuate recess 18 a of the cutting support 18 is formed.

At the top, the sucked flap K is pushed on the return stroke in the escape channel 16b. It is formed from the front curvature of the Blasluftdüsenplatte 15 b and the arcuate recess 19 a of the pressure bar 19th

During the return stroke, the air blast is turned off and the Blasluftdüsenplatten 15a and 15b make the stroke X2, for example by means of pneumatic cylinders 20 and 21, so that in order to achieve optimum block support the escape channel 16a is optimally narrowed, as compared Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 you can see.

The cylinder 20 generates at the lower Blasluftdüsenplatte 15 a purely horizontal movement, the upper edge of the cutting pad 18 and the Blasluftdüsenplatte 15 a are aligned.

The cylinder 21 generates on the upper Blasluftdüsenplatte 15b an oblique movement X3, which causes the first opposite the pressure bar 19 projecting Blasluftdüsenplatte 15b is also flush with the lower edge of the pressure bar and forms a plane.

The upper blown air nozzle plate 15b is mounted on the pressure bar 19 via a holder 22. With lowering of the pressure bar 19 on the block I so that the Blasluftdüsenplatte 15a is lowered onto the block and acts for flat Planhalten the block I for the front section.

The force is elastic, for example limited by suspension of the suspension (not shown) and the contact surface to the block is rigid to the edges the flaps K do not appear on the outside of the brochure as prints.

The Blasluftdüsenplatten 15a, 15b act according to the Koanda effect via obliquely exiting air nozzles 23, which are supplied by a channel 24 with compressed air of preferably 1.5..2 bar.

The blast air nozzle plates 15a, 15b are guided at the ends of the channel 24 and at rear suspension points 24 according to the desired strokes X2 at the bottom and X3 at the top by suitable means as shown in Figs Fig. 1 to 4 The special feature of the suction effect of the Koanda effect is that the material is not firmly sucked, but can be moved without friction. Hub X1 and Hub X2 or X3 therefore do not need to be in sync.

After the cut has been made by the knives 25, the pressure strip 19 is lifted and the export belts 13a and 13b transport the finished trimmed block out of the three-knife trimmer while the next block on the way out of the head and foot trimming stations A, B is already in the front trimming station C.

For transport, the stop 14 must fold down below the transport plane and fold up again after passing through the product to be executed in order to be ready for the next product.

The Fig. 5 and 6 show another exemplary embodiment, in which the separation of Umschiagkiappen is executed by a number of suckers 35 and 35, which are located on suction pads 36.

The block I is again fed beyond the stroke X1 beyond the cutting position by the export belts 13a and 13b, so that the flap edge of the flap K just over the trailing edge of the cutting pad 18 and the pressing bar 19 gets over, the front portion F but still rests. The vacuum of the suckers 35, 35a on the suction bars 36 is switched on and the envelope flap K sucked close to the flap edge. On the top of sucker 35a are used with a telescopic stroke, which bridge the distance a, by extending when the vacuum is switched on and retract on contact with the to be sucked flap K again. The suckers now make a pivoting movement α by about 45 ° about the pivot point 38 on the plates 39 and 39a, generated for example by two cylinders 37. By the stop 14 of the block I is then pushed back around the hub X1 in the cutting position. In this case, the plates 39 and 39a are moved synchronously only a piece of X2, for example via the cylinder 40th

In this case, the gently bent by the suckers 35 and 35a end of the flaps K is redirected into the recesses 18a and 19a. The plates 39 and 39a come close to the cutting support 18 and the pressing bar 19 zoom in to achieve a possible full-surface support of the block I during the cut.

While the lower plate 39 is rigidly guided horizontally and is aligned with the upper edge of the cutting support 18, the upper plate 39a is vertically suspended elastically, for example, can serve for this purpose an intermediate layer 41 of foam rubber.

The upper plate 39a is mounted on the pressure bar 19 via a holder 32. When closing the pressing of the pressure bar 19, the plate 39a is automatically lowered onto the book block and the block so kept up for the cut.

The elasticity in conjunction with the hard contact surface avoid marks on the envelope through the flap ends. At the end of the cut by knife 25, the pressure bar lifts by the dimension a and thus also the plate 39a and the export belts 13 and 13a transport the finished trimmed block out of the machine.

Adapted in terms of format, all suction cups 35 and 35a can be individually shut off.

The idea of the invention also extends to other ways of separating the envelope from the edge of the block. Instead of the suction row would be a suction roll, which would be divided into segments, conceivable as a common alternative to individual suckers.

Another solution is a purely mechanical separation of the flap K of the block I by the return stroke splits the envelope U at the edge of the block inner part and redirected by the return movement X1 in escape channels 16a, 16b, as in FIG. 7 shown.

On the cutting support 18 in the recess 18a and on the pressure bar 19 in the circular recess 19a thin spring plates 43 are mounted as dividers in the radius-shaped recesses 18a and 19a and secured by fastening screws 43a. They press in the overstroke position slightly against the front portion portion of the block while the edge of the flap K has passed the leading edge of the spring plate 43 during the overstroke and is now separated on the return stroke of the spring plate 43 from the block I and is deflected along the recesses 18 a and 19 a.

The separation effect can be improved by blowing air from tubes 44 distributed along the book height.

The lower plate 45 is vertically constantly in alignment with the cutting support 18. The upper plate 46 is always vertical to the pressing bar 19 in alignment.

The spring plate 43 can advantageously be arranged slightly obliquely against the cutting plane or the edge of the flap K. The separation then starts from one side. The risk of blunt advancing the edge of the flap K against the divider 43 can be avoided.

The same can be achieved by a slightly arrow-shaped arrangement. The separation then begins in the middle.

Advantageously, both plates 45, 46 make a horizontal stroke to optimally reduce the gap to cutting support 18 and pressing bar 19 for the cut, for example, as in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6 is shown for the separation with suckers.

As shown, the upper plate 46 may be formed with an elastic intermediate layer of foam rubber 41, or the plate 46 may be resiliently secured to the pressure bar 19 by other known resilient means to avoid pressure marks on the envelope

The mechanical separation after Fig. 7 can also be combined with the isolation according to the Koanda effect according to Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 , Both principles support each other and improve the separation function for the envelope flaps K.

The Fig. 1 to 7 each show the processes as they occur during transport backward progress.

Of course, the transport can also go ahead with the front cut. The furnishings after FIGS. 1 to 7 will then go backwards. For this purpose, the docking station D is arranged in front of the front cutting station C. The back-up transportation, however, is usually preferable to the transport cut.

Claims (10)

  1. Three-knife trimmer for trimming blocks and brochures in individual trimming or else in stacks and in particular brochures with folded-in, protruding or flush cover flaps K in individual trimming with combined head trimming station A and foot trimming station B for the head and foot trimming and a separate front trimming station C for the front trimming with a supporting surface (18) arranged below the block (I) to be trimmed and a pressing bar (19) arranged above the block (I) and with a common transporting device,
    characterised in that
the front trimming station has a flap-opening device which has a lower (blowing-air-nozzle) plate (15a, 39) arranged downstream of the supporting surface (18) in the passing-through direction of the block (I) and an upper (blowing-air-nozzle) plate (15b, 39a) arranged downstream of the pressing plate (19) in the passing-through direction of the block (I), the entire three-side trimming being performed in one pass also in the case of brochures with folded-in protruding cover flaps K, the transporting device in the front trimming station pushing the cover flaps before the front trimming, back-first or front-first, for the purpose of keeping them away from the trimming region, into diversion channels (16a, 16b), and in that at the end of the return stroke (X1) of the block (I) the (blowing-air-nozzle) plates (15a, 39, 15b, 39a) follow the return stroke of the block (I) by a displacement in the same direction, in order to bring about a reducibility of the height of the diversion channels (16a, 16b) for the trimming operation, so that the supporting surface (18) with the lower (blowing-air-nozzle) plate (15a, 39) and the pressing surface (19) with the upper (blowing-air-nozzle) plate (15b, 39a) during the front trimming form surfaces practically at the same level for pressing the block situated between the surfaces.
  2. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 1,
    characterised in that
the transporting device has in the front trimming station C an upper belt and a lower belt (13a, 13b), by which the block I is transported, back-first, beyond the trimming position until it is in front of a stop (14) and is then pushed back again by the latter by the overtravel into the cutting position, the edges of the cover flaps K being separated and pushed into the diversion channels (16a, 16b).
  3. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 1 and 2,
    characterised in that
at the front trimming station C there is arranged a blowing device which causes a separation of the cover flap edges owing to the Coanda effect, the blowing-air-nozzle plates (15a, 15b) having end curves at their free ends facing the respective diversion channels (16a, 16b), at which blowing air emerges at a shallow angle of preferably 20° and exerts a sucking action on the end of the cover flaps K and sucks this end onto the end curve of the blowing-air-nozzle plates (15a, 15b) without exerting friction, while the inner part of the block is held by the supporting surface (18) or the pressing bar (19).
  4. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that
the front trimming station C has suction bars (36) which are fastened pivotably to the plates (39, 39a) and cause a separation of the cover flap edges and which bend the cover flap edges away outwards and during the forward stroke lead them into the diversion channels (16a, 16b), the plates (39, 39a) executing a horizontal movement parallel to the return stroke (X1).
  5. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 1 and 2,
    characterised in that
the separation of the cover flap edges is performed by a suction roller, the regions not used formatwise being able to be blocked off segmentally.
  6. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 1 or 2,
    characterised in that
the separation is performed mechanically by separating points which during the return stroke support the inner part of the block, take hold of the cover edge and lead it outwards into the diversion channels (16a, 16b).
  7. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 1, 2 or 6,
    characterised in that
plates (45, 46) are moved along with the block (I) during the return stroke of the latter, so that the diversion channels (16a, 16b) are reduced to a minimum and in that the separation is assisted by small tubes (44) supplied with compressed air.
  8. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 6 or 7,
    characterised in that
the mechanical separating function is supplemented by the Coanda effect.
  9. Three-knife trimmer according to one or more of the preceding Claims 1 to 9,
    characterised in that
the upper belt of the transporting device adjusts automatically to the block thickness.
  10. Three-knife trimmer according to Claim 1,
    characterised in that
    the block is transported front-cut-first.
