Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a dishwasher with steam generator and a method for its operation.
In conventional dishwashers, the cleaning process normally goes through four phases. In a pre-rinse phase, the dishes are usually wetted without the addition of detergent. In a main rinse phase, detergent is added to the water. In a final rinse phase, the dishes are prepared for spotless drying by rinsing with clean, hot water, with the rinse aid added to the water. Then follows a drying phase in which the heated dishes are dried.
The object is to provide a dishwasher with better cleaning effect and good energy efficiency.
This object is achieved by the dishwasher or the method according to the independent claims.
Accordingly, a steam generator is provided, with which the dishes can be acted upon in the rinse phase of steam. The water condensing directly on the dishes has virtually no impurities, so that it dries without residue. In addition, the condensation process makes it possible to supply the dishes with energy for the subsequent drying in an energetically efficient manner.
Preferably, to generate steam, the water is heated in the sump of the dishwasher and / or in the piping between the sump and the spray means of the dishwasher. This is simple in terms of apparatus. In addition, leaves Use a corresponding heating also for heating the water in the remaining cleaning phases.
In this case, there may be a direct release of steam from the sump into the tub. Preferably, the pump of the dishwasher is operated in at least part of the rinse phase with reduced flow rate at which the water exiting from the spraying water does not act on the dishes, but flows directly through the tub to the sump. As a result, the water surface and thus the heat transfer and the steam discharge are increased. At the same time overheating of the steam generator is prevented.
- in a first part of the final rinse phase or in an intermediate rinse phase sprayed water with rinse aid on the dishes and
- In a second part of the rinse phase, no water is sprayed on the dishes, but the dishes are steamed.
In this way, rinse aid can be applied to the dishes, which promotes drying without visible residues.
Further preferred embodiments will become apparent from the dependent claims and from the following description with reference to FIG 1. This figure shows a schematic section through a possible embodiment of the dishwasher.
The dishwasher has a housing 1, in which a
Below the dish receiving area, a
To collect the effluent water, a
At the
The processes in the dishwasher are controlled by a symbolically illustrated
- 1) First, the dishes are pre-rinsed by applying water to the dishes from the
5, 6, 7. Here, thesprays heater 13 can be used to heat the water. - 2) In a main purge phase, the
controller 14 adds detergent to the water in a known manner via a detergent dispenser. The water is further sprayed with the spraying means 5, 6, 7 directly on the dishes and heated with theheater 13, if necessary. At the end of the main rinsing phase, the polluted water is pumped out. - 3) The main rinse phase is followed by an intermediate rinse and final rinse phase. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, different variants are conceivable:
- Variant I: In the intermediate rinsing phase, the dishes are rinsed with fresh water to remove dirt residues from the cleaning phase. The
controller 14 operates thepump 10 at full capacity and the water is applied by all 5, 6, 7 directly to the dishes. At the same time, thespray controller 14 operates a known rinse aid dispenser. This adds rinse aid to the water introduced into the system which reduces its surface tension. In this variant, the water is preferably not heated in the intermediate rinse phase. At the end of the intermediate rinse phase, the water is pumped down to the evaporation level. - Variant II: As in variant I, an intermediate rinse phase takes place, but without the addition of rinse aid, and then the water is completely pumped out. Now fresh water is added again, which rinse aid is added. The water is applied at full capacity of the
pump 10 on the dishes. In this case, in a variant IIa the water can be heated to 50 ° C, whereby a first heating of the dishes for the following drying phase is possible and thus the dishes can be spared. Alternatively, the water is not heated in a variant IIb and then pumped off to the evaporation level. - Variant I is preferable if the dishes are little polluted or if it is determined by means of a turbidity sensor, for example, that the intermediate rinse water is sufficiently clean, otherwise variant II is selected.
- Variant I: In the intermediate rinsing phase, the dishes are rinsed with fresh water to remove dirt residues from the cleaning phase. The
- 4) In the following part of the final rinse phase, the process water is first pumped down to a predetermined steam generation level, if not already done is. Now the water is heated by the
heater 13 to at least 75 ° C, preferably at least 85 ° C. At the same time, thecontroller 14 operates thepump 10 with reduced delivery rate at which the water exits from the spraying means 5, 6, 7 in such a way that it drains through thetub 2 to thesump 8 without loading the dishes. In the embodiment shown, the reduced delivery rate of thepump 10 is so low, for example, that water exits only from the nozzles of thelower spray arm 5, but not from theupper spray arm 6 or thenozzle 7. In addition, the exit velocity is so low that the water is not splashes up to the dish receiving area, but dripping from thelower spray arm 5 directly to the bottom of the tub and drains from there into thesump 8. (Conceivable is also the use of an even lower flow rate at which no water exits from the spray arms, but the pump generates a certain flow in the area of theheater 13.) Steam enters thetub 2 from the heated water, which flows to the (cooler ) Condenses tableware and this heats up to a temperature of about 60 to 70 ° C. The condensed water forms drops that run off the dishes and dilute any residual salts left on the dishes. - 5) The final rinse phase is followed by a drying phase in which water is removed from the
tub 2 in a suitable manner. The dishes are drying.
When generating the steam in the final rinse phase, at least as much water should be present in the dishwasher that the
To protect components, the
To monitor and control the evaporation process, a temperature sensor is preferably provided in the water in the region of the
At steam temperatures above 60 ° C, an active locking of the door can be done, with which the door can be locked during at least part of the rinse phase to protect the user when exiting the door from escaping hot steam. For this purpose, the
Also, the user can be made aware of the vapor with suitable means of indication.
Pure steam may be able to attack certain dishes (knife blades, glass). in the above-mentioned phase 3a), at least one corrosion inhibitor (zinc oxide, silicate) can be added to the water. It is also conceivable to provide a sacrificial anode in electrical or electrolytic contact with the dishes, e.g. in the area of the cutlery basket.
Initial tests show that the use of, for example, 600 g of steam can improve the drying effect according to EN 50242 by approx. 14%, while reducing energy consumption by around 140 Wh.
The steaming of the dishes described here can either be integrated in the process flow with each program or programs that are particularly suitable for it (eg glass program), or actively selected and deselected by the user via the control panel of the device (via a button or in the adjustment mode).
