- Feeder insert for insertion into a mould used for casting metal, consisting of a feeder body having a feeder volume, the feeder body being made of an exothermic and/or insulating material and having a lower base surface facing the moulding region of the mould which forms the casting and in which base surface a base opening is provided, the feeder body having a feeder lower part positioned thereon, and which is movable relative thereto and which can be inserted into the feeder volume via the base opening when forming the feeder insert during the process of producing the mould, in which lower part a feeder opening is formed, promoting the formation of a predetermined breaking point for a feeder residue formed in the feeder volume comprising the feeder lower part and in which, during production of the mould, the feeder insert comprising the feeder lower part may be attached to a holding mandrel fixed to a pattern forming the shape of the casting, characterised in that, in the stand-by position, before the feeder insert (10) is inserted into the mould, with the base surface (15) facing upward, the feeder lower part (18) is arranged in the interior of the feeder volume (13) and is movable therein in such a way that on rotation of the feeder insert to its operational position, with its base surface (15) facing the moulding region of the mould, a portion of the length of the feeder lower part (18) protrudes from the feeder volume (13) and may be reinserted into the feeder volume (13) by means of the protruding portion during production of the mould, and in that a securing means (23, 30), which is effective in the operational position of the feeder body, is formed on the feeder body (11), to prevent the feeder lower part (18) from completely falling out of the feeder volume (13), whereby the securing means is configured as a material seat (23) narrowing the cross-section of the base opening (16) located in the base surface (15) of the feeder body (11) after the insertion of the feeder lower part (18) into the feeder volume (13) and the material seat (23) consists of adhesive points attached to the edge of the base opening (16).
- Feeder insert for insertion into a mould used for casting metal, consisting of a feeder body having a feeder volume, the feeder body being made of an exothermic and/or insulating material and having a lower base surface facing the moulding region of the mould which forms the casting and in which base surface a base opening is provided, the feeder body having a feeder lower part positioned thereon, and which is movable relative thereto and which can be inserted into the feeder volume via the base opening when forming the feeder insert during the process of producing the mould, in which lower part a feeder opening is formed, promoting the formation of a predetermined breaking point for a feeder residue formed in the feeder volume comprising the feeder lower part and in which, during production of the mould, the feeder insert comprising the feeder lower part may be attached to a holding mandrel fixed to a pattern forming the shape of the casting, characterised in that, in the stand-by position, before the feeder insert (10) is inserted into the mould, with the base surface (15) facing upward, the feeder lower part (18) is arranged in the interior of the feeder volume (13) and is movable therein in such a way that on rotation of the feeder insert to its operational position, with its base surface (15) facing the moulding region of the mould, a portion of the length of the feeder lower part (18) protrudes from the feeder volume (13) and may be reinserted into the feeder volume (13) by means of the protruding portion during production of the mould, and in that a securing means (23, 30), which is effective in the operational position of the feeder body, is formed on the feeder body (11) to prevent the feeder lower part (18) from completely falling out of the feeder volume (13) whereby the securing means is configured as a material seat (23) narrowing the cross-section of the base opening (16) located in the base surface (15) of the feeder body (11) after the insertion of the feeder lower part (18) into the feeder volume (13) and the material seat (23) consists of a peripheral adhesive ring attached to the edge of the base opening (16).
- Feeder insert for insertion into a mould used for casting metal, consisting of a feeder body having a feeder volume, the feeder body being made of an exothermic and/or insulating material and having a lower base surface facing the moulding region of the mould which forms the casting and in which base surface a base opening is provided, the feeder body having a feeder lower part positioned thereon, and which is movable relative thereto and which can be inserted into the feeder volume via the base opening when forming the feeder insert during the process of producing the mould, in which lower part a feeder opening is formed, promoting the formation of a predetermined breaking point for a feeder residue formed in the feeder volume comprising the feeder lower part and in which, during production of the mould, the feeder insert comprising the feeder lower part may be attached to a holding mandrel fixed to a pattern forming the shape of the casting, characterised in that, in the stand-by position, before the feeder insert (10) is inserted into the mould, with the base surface (15) facing upward, the feeder lower part (18) is arranged in the interior of the feeder volume (13) and is movable therein in such a way that on rotation of the feeder insert to its operational position, with its base surface (15) facing the moulding region of the mould, a portion of the length of the feeder lower part (18) protrudes from the feeder volume (13) and may be reinserted into the feeder volume (13) by means of the protruding portion during production of the mould, and in that a securing means (23, 30), which is effective in the operational position of the feeder body, is formed on the feeder body (11), to prevent the feeder lower part (18) from completely falling out of the feeder volume (13) whereby the securing means is configured as a material seat (23) narrowing the cross-section of the base opening (16) located in the base surface (15) of the feeder body (11) after the insertion of the feeder lower part (18) into the feeder volume (13) and the securing means is configured as ridges which are introduced into the base surface (15) and narrow in the cross-section of the base opening (16), located in the base surface (15) of the feeder body (11), after the insertion of the feeder lower part (18) into the feeder volume (13).
- Feeder insert for insertion into a mould used for casting metal, consisting of a feeder body having a feeder volume, the feeder body being made of an exothermic and/or insulating material and having a lower base surface facing the moulding region of the mould which forms the casting and in which base surface a base opening is provided, the feeder body having a feeder lower part positioned thereon, and which is movable relative thereto and which can be inserted into the feeder volume via the base opening when forming the feeder insert during the process of producing the mould, in which lower part a feeder opening is formed, promoting the formation of a predetermined breaking point for a feeder residue formed in the feeder volume comprising the feeder lower part and in which, during production of the mould, the feeder insert comprising the feeder lower part may be attached to a holding mandrel fixed to a pattern forming the shape of the casting, characterised in that, in the stand-by position, before the feeder insert (10) is inserted into the mould, with the base surface (15) facing upward, the feeder lower part (18) is arranged in the interior of the feeder volume (13) and is movable therein in such a way that on rotation of the feeder insert to its operational position, with its base surface (15) facing the moulding region of the mould, a portion of the length of the feeder lower part (18) protrudes from the feeder volume (13) and may be reinserted into the feeder volume (13) by means of the protruding portion during production of the mould, and in that a securing means (23, 30), which is effective in the operational position of the feeder body, is formed on the feeder body (11), to prevent the feeder lower part (18) from completely falling out of the feeder volume (13), whereby the securing means is configured as a retaining ring (30) inserted into the wall region of the feeder body (11) adjacent to the base opening (16).
- Feeder insert according to one of the claims 1 - 4, characterised in that the feeder lower part (18) is configured as a shaped body having a connecting channel (21) between the feeder volume (13) and the mould and is made of an exothermic and/or insulating material.
- Feeder insert according to one of the claims 1 - 5, characterised in that, in the standby position, the feeder lower part (18) is completely accommodated in the feeder volume (13) of the feeder body (11)
- Feeder insert according to one of the claims 1 - 5, characterised in that, in the standby position, the feeder lower part (18) protrudes from the base surface (15) of the feeder body (11)
- Feeder insert according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the feeder lower part (18) has at least one stop (20) cooperating with the securing means (23) in the region of the feeder lower part which can be moved in the feeder volume (13).
- Feeder insert according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the feeder lower part (18) has a conical portion (19) which narrows in the direction of the base surface (15) of the feeder body (11), and the stop (20) is configured at the upper edge of the conical portion (19)
- Feeder insert according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterised in that, centring configurations (22), fixing the feeder lower part (18) relative to the holding mandrel (24), are formed on the feeder lower part (18).
- Feeder insert according to claim 10, characterised in that the centring configurations are configured as centring ribs (22) which project into the connecting channel accommodating the holding mandrel (24) during production of the mould and which surround the holding mandrel (24)
