Claims (14)

  1. Folding seat (1) including a seat (3), a backrest (4) and a hinge device mounted on a base (2), said backrest (4) and said seat (3) being manually movable between a folded position wherein they are arranged in contact and parallel to one another and an operating position, the device comprising:
    - a first connecting rod (8) connected to the seat (3) and mounted free to rotate on the base (2) about a first axis of rotation (10) and relative to the backrest (4) about a second axis of rotation (11), fixed with respect to the backrest (4),
    - a second connecting rod (9) mounted free to rotated on the base (2) about a third axis of rotation (12) and relative to the backrest (4) about a fourth axis of rotation (13), fixed with respect to the backrest (4), said seat (1) being characterized in that:
    the four axes of rotation (10, 11, 12, 13) form a deformable quadrilateral arranged to cause the upward displacement and rearward tilting of the backrest (4) by displacing the seat (3) toward its operating position, so as to position the seat (1) into its operating position.
  2. The folding seat (1) according to Claim 1, characterized in that that base (2) consists of a first and a second lateral element (18, 19) positioned on either side of the seat (3) and of the backrest (4).
  3. The folding seat according to Claim 2, characterized in that the first (8) and the second (9) connecting rods are mounted free to rotate on the first lateral element (18), said hinge device also including:
    - a third connecting rod (22) attached to the seat (3) and mounted free to rotate on the second lateral element (19) and relative to the backrest respectively about said first (10) and said second (11) axes of rotation.
    - a fourth connecting rod (23) mounted free to rotate in the second lateral element (19) and relative to the backrest (4) about said third (12) and said fourth (13) axes.
  4. The folding seat (1) according to one of Claims 2 or 3, characterized in that the lateral elements (18, 19) are positioned to constitute armrests when said seat (1) is in its operating position.
  5. The folding seat (1) according to Claim 3 or 4, characterized in that the lateral elements (18, 19) comprise joining parts (24, 25) positioned on either side of the hinge device, the connecting rods being mounted free to rotate on said protective parts (24, 25).
  6. The folding seat (1) according to Claim 5, characterized in that one joining part (25) has a slide (27) guiding a finger (27) attached to the seat (3) or to the hinge device to as to constitute a stop allowing the operating position and the folded position of said seat (1) to be defined.
  7. The folding seat (1) according to Claim 1, characterized in that it has armrests (15, 16) mounted free to rotate relative to the backrest (4), said armrests (15, 16) being movable between a deployed position and a retracted position.
  8. The folding seat (1) according to Claim 7, characterized in that the armrests (15, 16) are attached to the seat (3) so that a movement of the seat (3) toward its operating position allows deployment of the armrests (15, 16) and a movement of the seat (3) toward its folded position causes retraction of the armrests (15, 16).
  9. The folding seat according to Claim 8, characterized in that the armrests (15, 16) are attached to the seat (3) by means of curved slides (17) positioned in the armrests (15, 16) and wherein fingers attached to the seat (3) can move so that the distance between the armrests (15, 16) and the seat (3) varies during their respective movements.
  10. The folding seat (1) according to any one of Claims 1 through 9, characterized in that the base (2) encloses a gas cylinder (14) one end whereof is mounted free to rotate on the base (2) and the other end whereof is mounted free to rotate on the seat (3) or on the hinge device, said cylinder (14) enabling slowing of the displacement of the seat (3) and of the backrest (4) when they are moving toward their folded position.
  11. The folding seat (1) according to one of Claims 1 through 10, characterized in that the hinge device includes rigid plates (5, 6) allowing the backrest (4) and the seat (3) to be attached to said hinge device.
  12. The folding seat (1) according to Claim 11, characterized in that the first (8) and the second connecting rod (9) are mounted free to rotate relative to the backrest (4) on the second rigid plate (6).
  13. The folding seat (1) according to one of Claims 1 through 12, characterized in that the backrest (4) has a shape that is substantially complementary to that of the seat (3) in order to reduce the thickness of the seat (1) when it is in its folded position.
  14. The folding seat (1) according to one of Claims 1 through 13, characterized in that the deformable quadrilateral is a parallelogram.
