Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of thixotropy of reactive compositions, in particular of adhesives and sealants.
- Thixotropy is an important feature for the application of an adhesive or sealant.
- Adhesives and sealants are usually stored in cartridges, hobbocks or barrels. During application, they are removed from this storage vessel by pumping or by squeezing using a cartridge gun or follower plates and are typically applied to the substrate to be bonded or sealed using a nozzle, if appropriate using a static mixer.
- the adhesive or sealant has the lowest possible viscosity.
- the applied adhesive or sealant should remain in the applied shape after application and not flow away. This is of enormous importance, especially for thick layers or for vertical or overhead applications.
- thixotropy is known to the person skilled in the art. With this effect, a material becomes thinner as soon as it is moved and solidifies again after the movement stops. This effect is therefore used by the majority of commercial adhesives and sealants. It is usually the adhesive or the medium viscosity Binder, an additive added.
- thixotropic agents are, for example, inorganic substances such as bentonites or pyrogenic silicas or organic substances such as castor oil derivatives, special polyamides or polyureas.
- DE 23 60 019 describes a polyurea thixotropic agent which results from the reaction of primary and / or secondary polyamines, monofunctional alcohols and / or amines with diisocyanate compounds.
- a thixotropic agent for polyurethane compositions based on a urea derivative in a non-diffusing carrier material is described, for example, in EP 1 152019 A1.
- (Meth) acrylates with a functionality of more than two are mainly used for quick cross-linking and extremely resistant lacquers.
- No. 3,663,467 describes a porous polymer based on trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate, which is used for the absorption of phenol from hexane.
- EP 0 732348 A1 describes a moisture-curing polymer composition with fine particles of a copolymer of a mono (meth) acrylate with a monomer with two or more (meth) acryloyloxy groups, the proportion of the last being no more than 10 mol% of the copolymer and one increased elongation and impact resistance.
- the present invention relates to a thixotropic composition which comprises at least one compound A having at least two reactive groups which are selected from the group comprising isocyanate, epoxide, alkoxysilane and mixtures thereof, and at least one polymeric thixotropic agent B which is produced by homopolymerizing a (meth) acrylate B1 or by copolymerizing a (meth) acrylate B1 with at least one further (meth) acrylate.
- the (meth) acrylate mixture has an average (meth) acrylate functionality J of 2.5 to 4.5.
- (Meth) acrylaf is understood throughout the present document to mean an ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and therefore includes both methacrylates and acrylates.
- alkoxysilane is understood to mean an organosilicon compound in which at least one organic radical has a C-Si bond to the silicon atom and the at least one further organic radical which has an O-Si
- “epoxy” means the one oxirane group, formula (I), of which the glycidyl group, formula (II), is the preferred variant.
- “Poly” in “polyol”, “polyamine”, “polymercaptan” and “polyisocyanate” are understood in the present document to mean molecules which formally contain two or more of the respective functional groups.
- the term “polyurethane” in the present document encompasses all of them
- Polymers which are produced by the diisocyanate polyaddition process also includes those polymers which are almost or completely free of urethane groups, such as polyether polyurethanes, polyester polyurethane ne, polyether-polyureas, polyureas, polyester-polyureas, poly-isocyanurates, polycarbodiimides, etc.
- “(Meth) acrylate functionality” means the number of (meth) acrylate groups per molecule and is accordingly understood as “monofunctional” ",” Difunctional ",” trifunctional ",” tetrafunctional "and” penta-functional "(meth) acrylates.
- the "average (meth) acrylate functionality /" is calculated using the following formula:
- n t stands for the number of moles of the respective (meth) acrylate in the (meth) acrylate mixture and, - for its (meth) acrylate functionality.

For example, the compound A can simultaneously have alkoxysilane and isocyanate groups or at the same time alkoxysilane and epoxy groups or epoxy and isocyanate groups. It is even possible for compound A to have alkoxysilane, epoxy and isocyanate groups at the same time. However, it is preferred that the compound has at least two identical groups. Compound A is in particular a polymer or oligomer.
- compound A is a compound A3, which is a polyurethane prepolymer having at least two isocyanate groups.

- Viscosity at shear rate 1s "1 can no longer be measured
- Tables 6 to 9 show that even small amounts of the polymeric thixotropic agent B mean that the compositions formulated therewith become stable and the compositions formulated with them can be used as adhesives. In particular, it has been shown that the addition of the polymeric thixotopant B leads to no or no significant deterioration in the mechanical properties.
- Suitability as matting agent The gloss value was measured by means of light reflection on an applied layer with a thickness of 2 mm, which was applied flat to a glass plate using a wooden gap. Description
THIXOTROPE REAKTIVE ZUSAMMENSETZUNG
ne, Polyether-Polyharnstoffe, Polyharnstoffe, Polyester-Polyharnstoffe, Poly- isocyanurate, Polycarbodiimide, usw.
Verbindung A. Diese Verbindung A besitzt mindestens zwei reaktive Gruppen.

Tabelle 3.

1 = > 95 % Kohäsionsbruch 2 = 75 - 95 % Kohäsionsbruch 3 = 25 - 75 % Kohäsionsbruch 4 = < 25 % Kohäsionsbruch 5 = adhäsiver Bruch
