Die Greifer 18 befinden sich in dem vorliegenden Fall hinter dem hinteren Ende der Lebensmittelriegel 2. Vor oder während des Aufschneidens wird die zentrale Einheit 20, an der die Greifer angeordnet sind, mit einem Motor entlang der Führung 22 in Richtung der hinteren Enden der Lebensmittelriegel bewegt, bis ein Greifer 18 einen Lebensmittelriegel berührt. Die Krallen dieses Greifers werden dann mit diesem Lebensmittelriegel in Eingriff gebracht wird. Die Greifer 18 sind so relativ zu der Zentraleinheit 20 gelagert bzw. angetrieben, dass sie nacheinander oder gleichzeitig mit den jeweiligen Lebensmittelriegeln in Kontakt gebracht und mit diesen Verbunden werden können, ohne dass die Lebensmittelriegel nennenswert komprimiert werden. Diese Verfahrensweise hat insbesondere vor dem Beginn des Aufschneidens den Vorteil, dass die Lebensmittelriegel nicht nennenswert gegen den Anschlag 16 gedrückt werden, so dass der Anschlag entfernt werden kann, ohne die Lebensmittelriegel beschädigt werden. Die Greifer müssen die Lebensmittelriegel auch nicht zurückziehen, wie es beispielsweise in der DE 100 50713 A1 gelehrt wird, damit der Anschlag überhaupt entfernt werden kann. Ein weiter Vorteil der vorliegenden Erfindung ist, dass die parallel Ausrichtung der vorderen Enden der Lebensmittelriegel auch nach deren Verbund mit den Greifern erhalten bleibt.
